What's funnier about that thread is all the people that said they wouldn't buy it because of the price, that probably bought it within the first year.

so, erm, why don't you put a probability to that?VAIL said:My prediction: It runs Android OS.

AceBandage said:Still betting on $180, myself.
The new price drops for the DS models seem to suggest this as well.

DonMigs85 said:It took over 3 years, but my DS Lite has just developed a stress fracture on its left hinge.
The touchscreen also has some static pixels too. I hope the 3DS really comes out no later than March next year, otherwise I'll probably pick up a regular DSi.

Since I was the one who had that wild thought that it might be iOS4 (iPhone) compatible, I'll start.blu said:so, erm, why don't you put a probability to that?

Same as DS and Wii.
Think about it. Has Opera got Flash functionality built in to it?Brettison said:That doesn't tell me much though.
Vinterbird said:Since it can be turned on and off, I'm starting to believe that might be the case.
Willy105 said:Yeah. The Xbox 360 and PS3 can turn off their HD, so it is a good observation.
Vinterbird said:If 3D was the thing for the system, then Nintendo wouldn't give the user the ability to just turn it off at will. They would have forced it upon everyone.
And that is an insanely stupid analogy you bring.
GCX said:I wonder if LA Times will "leak" 3DS on their Tuesday morning paper.
It happened with both DS and Wii.
Well, that's true, and Nintendo seems to think the same way since they probably gave LA Times a permission to publish the news with DS and Wii.vgamer1 said:At that point it wouldn't really matter, considering the conference would be in a few hours.
Snakeyes said:Finished my mockup.
No power or start button since the home button does all of those things.

Stumpokapow said:That's not really true.
Willy105 said:If you check on the system's options menu, you can change the screen resolution from 1080, 720, or 480.
It changes the screen resolution, which you can notice on an HDTV.
Stabbie said:3DS will be the only affordable way to watch 3D porn. Everyone will want one!
Stumpokapow said:Yes, I'm not daft. I meant that rendering at an sd resolution doesn't really turn off hd so to speak. The 360 outputs all content at 720p. It uses a hardware scaler to scale that output resolution to the resolution of your tv--whether that's an sdtv at 480i or an HDTV at 1080p.
The picture is the same, just the clarity is different. Playing Gears of War in SD doesn't tone down the textures or geometry rendered, it just makes it harder to see on your tv.
Insofar as 3d can trivially be used to actually implement gameplay possibilities that will not be possible with the 3d slider turned off, the comparison doesn't make sense.

itd be nice if it could play movies but that would be the next generation after

far beyond Wii-level?

You may be oversimplifying a little. The 360 renders everything at a resolution set by the developers. Typically it's 1280x720, but occasionally it's different.Stumpokapow said:Yes, I'm not daft.
