Nintendo Jump was good this generation and will make very good sales & nice history.

By the way in the end i hope you give your comment in this thread to find out Nintendo How far Nintendo Jump.

Sorry for my bad english.

My point:

*Nintendo should make new team to control 3rd party.
*There should be team from nintendo organize DLC & release date for 3rd party because many month passes without games.
*Nintendo should update their game first to show 3rd party how far they are controlling DLC & patches.
*IOS big jump should be happened very soon to make 3rd party interested to developed games with cross chat & text specially for online gaming.
*Old port should be priced under 40$ and this should be ruled by nintendo.
*support all control type & TV-off play in all Wii U games and for old games they should release patches.

I will add more in my thread answering.

Yay Nintendo.

*Graphical Processing Power

+It has graphics
-It's about on par with the consoles its competitors released 7-8 years ago

Too much "+", your thread will not be very successfull.

Seriously, they did work on several things but it's still late and not very well done (eg. awfull OS speed that takes 2 updates to -maybe- fix). If at least they were 6 or 12 months behind but providing perfectly designed, user-friendly functionnalities... But it's not. Even the virtual console restart from scratch, and at a fee.
Most of those are secondary objectives. Sadly, they still need to work on the primary objective (games).

Wait what? There's only been Nintendoland and New Super Mario Bros U so far and they're not really titles I see as being extraordinary or must haves (minigames and Wii up-port).

No way.

I think that ship has sailed. It will be remembered as Nintendo's weakest performing console ever in the marketplace.

That is ridiculous.

The ship has sailed on it outselling the Wii. It has not sailed on it being a success.

That's honestly a bit too early to say. I mean I doubt it'll be near Wii levels, but there's a chance it can surpass the GC. We'll see though.

We need to define success. 70 million units WW? Outselling the GameCube in the same time frame?

That's honestly a bit too early to say. I mean I doubt it'll be near Wii levels, but there's a chance it can surpass the GC. We'll see though.
And Iwata said if all they are hoping to do is outsell the GameCube they are in the wrong business.
They can outsell the GC by just dropping the price over and over again and keeping it longer alive. That's not a success.

Its too early period. There is no negotiating on that point.

I remember the same dumb statements about the 3DS.

From a standpoint of pure numbers, maybe it'll surpass the GCN. But from a market share standpoint (not including handhelds or mobile gaming)? lol no way.

Oh geez, cut him some slack. The amount of threads we have right now that are repeating information and asking the same damn questions (how do you feel about DRM) are numerous to say the least.

On topic, I really want gifting back. Like, now.

I don't think it'll ever take off, it's not going to get any third party support after this year.

The online works really well. They finally got rid of friendcodes and the integration with Miiverse and all that is nice. So for that alone, good for Nintendo for taking a big jump for them.

Why not? We have no clue what the Xbone/PS4 will sell. I personally am of the opinion that both will underperform compared to current gen..... in which case beating the GCN's market share won't be all that difficult.

the download system really is nice and up to date. downloads, patches, and installs everything in background without need for attention. that's more then i can say about my ps3 which needs to constantly update itself just so i can play ps2 games.

I don't think so. The Gamecube was at least a powerful console, Wii U is not.

nah wii u is about on-par with the gamecube. the ps3 and xbox 360 were just like a generation and a half leap at the time, eager to pump enough power into their console to just barely touch HD with their $599 price tag.

A list of inevitable franchises isn't "excellent support." More first party titles should have been out by now.

I want Wii U to do well but you're not really making a compelling case here...

Somehow I cannot shake off the feeling that "powerwise" the Wii U will be the Wii of next-gen.

Also, unlike the Wii and motion control, Wii U gamepad has not exactly lighted the world on fire.

Maybe my perspective is skewed by being a multi console owner.

But Nintendo hasn't had 3 rd party support since the SNES really.

If you buy Nintendo console for third party games, you're doing it wrong.

That doesn't make it a "banal" complaint. And "Good luck with the games not made by Nintendo" is not a great marketing strat.

Yeah. I understand the criticism from the public, but from GAMERS it is ridiculous. Nintendo's lack of 3rd party support for their consoles has little to no negative impact on the average Gaffer.

That doesn't make it a "banal" complaint.

Complaining about something that doesn't actually effect you (in all likelihood) does seem rather banal to me.

they upgrading okay.....but still not controlling 3rd party, and so many engine not licensing by nintendo yet .

Okay i love my wii u and i have more than 24 games on it.

but come on online communication really old and has to get big update.

even DLC need to be followed by nintendo to fresh and update on same time with other.

Okay wii u graphics nice with other competitors right now but after 6 month we will be owned.

Nintendo should move quickly right now and not give the other consoles more chance to owned them this holiday season.

I wish nintendo heard their fans better and try to solve their problem as soon as possible.

There is no way that Nintendo is able to launch all those years the first year of the console. Zelda U and Mario 3D won't be releasing soon.

I'm glad you decide who this affects.

Bottom line, it's not a banal complaint. No matter who you are. Stop trying to make it ok.

At the very best it shows Nintendo cannot be trusted ever again with comments regarding 3rd party release prospects.

That's really not true. The GC had pretty good third party support. Certainly nothing compared to PS2, but it was far from ignored, and it had the best versions of many games.

Kamiya's new IP, sequel to relatively niche action game, crossover between two favorite franchises nobody saw coming, sequel to the last new IP from Miyamoto after 9 years and Retro's game which can be anything. What exactly is inevitable here?

I think Ninty can yet snatch victory from the jaws of defeat were they to implement live-instance virtual tabletop roleplaying. The GamePad would work pretty well as the Dungeon Master/Overseer/Controller's toolbox, with the other four players using conventional controllers. Of course, you'd need games that can be played adequately with a maximum of four players, but it's a manageable issue.
Sadly, I suspect such a notion is too radical for Nintendo upper management (composed of the worst possible executives in the world: late-middle-aged Japanese men), so I'm not sure we'll see anything like that. It would need a strong influx of European/US execs into the higher ranks, something the current leadership steadily refuses to accept.

I'm glad you decide who this affects.

Do you claim to only own a Nintendo console then (meaning lack of 3rd party support hurts you)? or am I right?

Seeing that you are posting in this thread on a gaming forum I am guessing that I know the answer.
