VC slows to a crawl once again.

Haven't heard of Exidia, but based on some Nintendo Life impressions, it looks like something I must buy, so I'll be there Minute 1 (assuming I don't have any classes to get to.)

Edit: The post above me is telling me to wait, so I'll wait for more impressions first.

yeah, alex kidd in shinobi is by far the worst of the bunch........... the best thing you can say about it is that the entire franchise (in america at least) is now available on VC.

What sucks about it is I NEVER saw the game in the store which always made it a curiosity for me. I finally paid a decent penny to actually get the complete cart and, needless to say, BIGGEST. LETDOWN. EVER!

You've got to be crazy! Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is WAY better than Lost Stars, Enchanted Castle and High Tech World.
The sound track is cool, Alex has some neat abilities, there are hidden paths and Alex controls well. I really love this game and am super excited to pick it up today.

Updated the OP. Has anyone checked to see if there are any new demos, or does their absence in the PR mean there's nothing to replace the ones that went up as part of the test program?

If there's new demos they probably won't go up until the shop updates in a couple hours.

Why does Nintendo hate VC so much?

Minus surprises the VC queue is looking like this:

[NES] Princess Tomato in Salad Kingdom
[NES] Mega Man 4
[N64] Ogre Battle 64
[GEN] Sonic and Knuckles
[TGCD] Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood
[C64] Iridium
[C64] International Karate+
[C64] Impossible Mission
[C64] Impossible Mission II
[C64] The Last Ninja 3
[C64] World Games
[C64] Paradroid
[C64] Jumpman
[C64] Mayhem in Monsterland
[C64] Winter Games
[ARC] Zaxxon

Hudson's VC site also doesn't say that Castlevania will be out this month so you might just forget that. This is what they have to work with for the foreseeable future. I honestly wouldn't expect a whole lot out of it right now, maybe even some non-release weeks soon. I really wonder why Namco-Bandai didn't move forward with it's promised arcade titles that would have helped a lot.

Is it true that Legends of Exidia is some sort of re-branded Might & Magic game?
If so, I might have to bite. Still... "Orb of Spell?" Seriously?

So, it's probably true that the upcoming Sonic DS compilation means the Sonic & Knuckles NA VC release (which will have full lock-on with all 3 other Genesis/MD Sonic's if you purchased them) is postponed for a long, long time, huh?
Fuck.

Very possible, I didn't even think about it.

At first, I read this as "Legends of Excite" and was like "the hell???"

At first, I read you saying "Legends of Excite" and thought "hell yes".

Then I realized it would probably be retro, not modern EXCITE, and decided to pass on this game that never existed in the first place. :lol

It's a port of some Might and Magic cell phone game... which from what I've heard didn't have anything to do with the M&M universe anyway.

The XBLA Sonic ports have full lock-on with S&K, that's a weird excuse...

Well, Backbone sort of botched the whole point of S3&K because of their shoddy menu system getting rid of the in-game file select/multiplayer/main menu system, effectively removing a way to replay levels as Hyper forms, go back for Super Emeralds, high scores, etc.

I and many other await the NA S&K VC release because it'll be the "pixel perfect" way to play S3&K besides playing on the original Genesis/MD. Except this time with Component connections.

And add to the fact that the XBLA Sonic ports released way before the whole DS Sonic compilation was even thought of by SEGA, more than likely. This DS port is really getting in the way here.

I only have Sonic 2 XBLA, I can't comment about the others.

I still think it's a wonky excuse, though.

There's a few others upcoming that you didn't list:

The Genesis versions of Super Street Fighter II and Pengo (Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers SEGA Teen Violence Wii) (Pengo SEGA Everyone No Descriptors Wii)

These have been up for quite a while though, so who knows about them...same goes for the JP/EU exclusive Crack Down and E-SWAT so far.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS '95

Platform: Wii

Rating: Teen

Content descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence

Rating summary:
This is a 2D arcade-style fighting game in which players compete in one-on-one combat with a large international cast of selectable characters. Players engage in hand-to-hand battles by mostly kicking, punching, and blocking their way to victory until the opposing player's life meter runs out. Players can also trigger special moves to cause larger amounts of damage to their opponents. Some female fighters wear outfits that reveal deep cleavage and portions of their buttocks. a few characters in the background are seen with (what appears to be) bottles of alcohol; a main character holds two sake bottles during battle, has rosy cheeks, and says, "To make things easier next time I'll fight drunk."

FINAL FANTASY II (IV, stupid US naming conventions)

Platform: Wii

Rating: Everyone

Content descriptors: Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes

Rating summary:
This is a 2D role-playing game (RPG) in which players embark on an adventure involving magic crystals and a quest to save the world from destruction. Players move small character icons across a field map and enter turn-based battles with an assortment of imps, dragons, and robots. Weapons and special attacks (e.g., "magic," "jump," and "kick"), accessed via a menu-screen, cause enemies to blink and disappear when defeated. One female enemy is depicted wearing a bikini top that exposes a moderate amount of cleavage.

Didn't notice FF2 and KoF'95 had ESRB ratings, those would be good bets. The rest was discounted since there has been nothing on it in a long time. At this point it'd be like Shadow Dancer, a surprise.

Most can be discounted for one reason or another. There's probably a couple of other ratings I missed. Maybe Captain Drake would know some more. Also, if it's not on here chances are it's not coming any time soon.

YES! NoA finally slows down!

Not to be a dick or anything, but I have no choice but to believe NoA and NoE are playing some fucking game where they take turns on who gives out better weeks. NoE better deliver something now.

I'm interested in hearing Exidia impressions. It looks awesome. But it's Gameloft. Not sure if want.

I'm basically in the same boat, but I'll probably bite tonight.
If so, I'll post back.

Didn't notice FF2 and KoF'95 had ESRB ratings, those would be good bets. The rest was discounted since there has been nothing on it in a long time. At this point it'd be like Shadow Dancer, a surprise.

Here's my full list of everything that's rated or has a release in some region (while having a previous release in the US):

[TG16] Parasol Stars

Sigh. I didn't realize until you posted this list -- and I did some digging -- that this game was added to the JPN VC in 2008. What do you think the hold up is?

Also, considering Hudson/Konami released the PC Engine version of Detana!! TwinBee in the States, it's weird that they have yet to release any version of Parodius, which I would guess is a more popular franchise.

Bought Exdia due to having a few hours I needed to kill and a lack of impressions.

Im not that far into it, so maybe it gets better but right now its like playing a korean MMO except from an overhead view. So many banal fetch quests.

EDIT- No way, an arbitrary escort mission right after an arbitrary stealth mission? I gotta be dreaming here. :lol

FF III was RATED???

I don't think so, but HYPE HYPE HYPE if it was.

I don't recall ever having seen it rated, nor is it (or V, for that matter) out in Japan yet. I wouldn't count on it for quite a while, if ever. FF II (IV) on the other hand I could see getting released in the US fairly soon.

I'd guess the issue with Parasol Stars (and Cadash as well) is that they were originally published in the US by Working Designs, even though they're both Taito games. Now that Gaijinworks is supporting it (at least via the Sunsoft and Telenet stuff), I'd think we could potentially see them at some point.
