I've only played the standard Classic mode so far (both single-player and online), but, as expected, it's Dr. Mario, and I love Dr. Mario.

So I've got 13$ on the eShop. Thinking of picking up Mutant Mudds and Cave Story. I've already got these games elsewhere, but having them on a portable would be nice. But I'm wondering if I should drop one of them and pick up a few smaller things.
What features does Cave Story on the eShop have compared to all the other ports of the game that exist?
And in a slightly related matter, whatever happened to Guxt 3DS?

It's even worse when the NES Wii U Virtual Console games are poorly emulated. It makes me wonder why more people aren't being critical of Nintendo about this, especially since (for the most part) they had gotten it right the first time with the Wii in the past.

Mutant Mudds gains a lot from being 3D. Cave Story, not so much.

Yeah, if you don't like the core Dr. Mario gameplay, even with the different modes, probably not too much that would change your mind or make you feel differently.

Cave Story eShop has everything from Cave Story + except for the new visuals and music, which I didn't care for to begin with. So, 3 difficulties, 2 playable characters, bonus challenges, and a music jukebox.

Most of the time, VC launches same day as normal eShop update (Thursday). If you're from North America, we almost never know what will be added (outside of 3rd party eShop games that is) till the day of.

Ooh, nice. This should help me decide whether or not to pre-order. I went from overboard excitement to on the fence with the game.

What caused you to go on the fence? Impressions of the European release have been overwhelmingly positive.

How many more weeks will NA 3DS owners have to wait for SMB3. It's been out a full year in Japan and is already out in EU too.

I checked my CN account and they added 32 things to my to-do list. I filled them all out and for every one that asked what I think of the VC, I said that I'd buy more stuff if they put more stuff out faster. I doubt anyone reads those, but I hope so.

I wish they add N64 VC at the end of the month, with the January Direct and the investors conference :(

Yeah, that's pretty much what has lessened my interest in the game. Setting aside all the glowing reactions, the actual descriptions of the gameplay and story, along with the short bits of video I've allowed myself to watch, have kinda "meh-ed" me out. If there's one thing I've learned to do over the years when it comes to games, is to listen less to people's opinions and pay closer attention to the actual details they're discussing.

I appreciate the effort that goes into these these threads. They're very helpful.

I'm not going to make any next-gen purchases in January, so I spent my gaming budget on SMT IV, EO IV and Street Fighter IV.

Ugh, guys, I hate this. I went to Walmart to buy Super Mario 3D World (I had to not buy it in case I had got it for Christmas, which I didn't). Well, they DIDN'T HAVE IT. I was shocked. There was't even an empty spot for it. So, I went to Gamestop and they were closed which seemed weird for a retail place to close early on New Years Day, but whatever. Angry, I went all the way to another town close by to their Walmart which has a much more fleshed out video game section. THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT EITHER! No empty spot or anything. I could not believe it.

Finally, I was like, well, mall is closed too so I'll try Toys R Us. They didn't have it. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?! I was so mad. I checked Amazon and they weren't selling it either. What happened to this game? Did it disappear off the face of the earth?

Well, now I have to do something which I'm FURIOUS at myself for actually doing, which is buying a full retail game off of the Nintendo eShop. ARRRRRRRRRRRGGHH!!! I can't believe I am doing this.

Yeah. True. There's just two reasons for me not wanting to buy it on the eShop: the lack of a proper account system so that my purchase isn't tied to the console (that's the biggest), and I LOVE having a physical collection for my games.
