Capndrake - I've added your PEGI updates, but I can't find You, Me and the Cubes on the PEGI site anywhere. Has it been removed?

According to that Nintendo blog, Nintendo Power says FF IV: The After Years will release on June 1st. Hope it'll come to Europe soon too!

I haven't really been keeping up - what's the word on DSi getting a Virtual Console for portable games? Google only turns up some blog rumour from a month ago.

These monthly threads turned out to be a great Idea. I really love the design of the OP and the monthly structure. Keeps things simple.

I am pretty sure everyone is hoping Nintendo will announce it at E3. If they do have a VC i hope they add on the NES & SNES along with all of the handhelds.

Added Bit.Trip Core to the OP as a new announcement. If there are any more suggestions for new additions, fire them up and I'll add them as I have time - as long as they were new within the past few days, as I think the old thread had everything else up to date.

Thanks for the info. I don't know if they'd do the NES & SNES, but it would be a smart way for them to access another huge purchasing audience for those games.

Should there be a place in the OP for upcoming but unrated stuff like Mighty Flip Champs, or would it simply be too much clutter to include every TBA game?

IIRC, it was in the OP for April as it was announced then but I've obviously cleared out the announcements list for the new thread. What may be possible if there is enough interest would be to add another list linked into the OP of upcoming titles, regardless of whether they're rated or not. I still need to work on formatting, so if there is demand for it I can try and figure out how to incorporate it (again, keeping in mind that I want this to be portable so that if I stop doing it another poster can pick up the template and run with it)

Capndrake said:
Yeah, You, Me, and the Cubes was only listed on the PEGI for about half a day. Clearly they didn't want anyone knowing about it yet. It was listed as being published by Nintendo just like in Japan.

I'll leave it in the OP then. Great news if it is being localised, as from what I've seen of the Japanese version it looks really interesting.

I just bought Bit. Trip Beat and spent over an hour playing it non-stop. That game is all kinds of awesome!

I especially like how you can add more tune to the music by pressing random butons on the controller.
But man, the game is tough, it really has me... beat. :lol

I thought the April thread worked out really well and the OP had a really easy to navigate format - good to see that we'll continue in this fashion. Good job Cosmonaut (and any assistants).

Also, the Wii no Ma channel for the DS came out the same day as to Wii's Wii no Ma Channel. It's free to download.

I'll add it in the OP later today.

Thanks for the kind words - the format of the OP is really a joint effort, and I'm glad it's proving to be of use. Thanks to all who've contributed so far.

Cosmonaut, the ESRB list you have for the VC, that's only a partial list, right?

I was pretty sure there were a lot of games rated for the ESRB than that in regards to the VC.

As far as I'm aware, that is the current list of VC games rated but unreleased. There were other games that were rated only to be subsequently removed from the listings (Earthbound, for example). If there are any missing, I'd be glad to add them back in.

That's it? :(

Damn, there are really no games I want on that list. I thought there were at least some classic RPGs that have been rated, but have not been released yet.

And what about Majora's Mask? It's not even rated yet?

There weren't any classic RPGs as far as I remember, at least none I would identify as such (What were you thinking of anyway?). Also note that in most cases the ESRB ratings do not show up until AFTER the game is released as many publshers opt to keep it a secret. Especially with Nintendo you won't get much out of that.

Ok, that I did not know about the publishers keeping it secret.

As for RPG classics that are not out yet, there are quite a few.

Dragon Warrior I-IV
Illusion of Gaia
Soul Blazer
Terranigma (still hoping this will come to NA VC)
The Seventh Saga
Lufia I
Lufia II
Demon's Crest
Breath of Fire 1
Secret of Evermore
Battle of Olympus
Crystalis
Faxanadu

That's all I could think of right now, but I know there is more. Some may not be "classics" or may be more action/adventure than RPG, but all are worthy for the VC.

My brother just got a DSi and I only just found out that moving notepad isn't available in Europe(or America) yet, that was probably one of the main reasons I would of bought a DSi myself-is there a vague release date for it yet?

There's not even a hint of a release date for it as far as I've seen. Don't trust the Wikipedia date, as it seems whoever put it on there is just bumping the date up week by week.

Hopefully Nintendo is working out the uploading feature for NA and Europe, whether they expand the Hatena service the JP one uses, or partner up with Youtube or some other service.

Let me be pessimistic and say it's never coming with upload feature because NoA/NoE don't want to risk animated penises, and free makes them go wut.

I just noticed that there are some DSi games that are out, but aren't on the ESRB site yet. Maybe we'll get lucky and Nintendo will release some cool game(s) this week. :( not gonna happen ):

Added a couple of new ESRB listings:
We should have a thread for new ESRB ratings, descriptors, and summaries across all platforms. I find the rating summaries quite amusing to read. I'd make it myself if I weren't still a junior member. It could be like the monthly boxart thread.

Captain N said:

It's not just the DSi that has games not on its site, for example, I don't think Onslaught for WiiWare is listed on the ESRB site, and I'm sure other platforms have games that don't show up on the site.

That would probably be the banner image. I'm on a 1280x1024 display and it's OK there, but if people would prefer I can adjust the size of the image to better suit a range of displays.

DSiWARE

Is the consensus that the DSi classifications for Ghostbusters, Felix, and N+ are just Atari's peculiar way of submitting DS titles, and don't mean they'll see DSiWare releases, then?

Unrelated: NOA, toss me some interesting DSiWare this week, please. (Interestingly, I just saw Aquia—out for a month now—is not listed at esrb.org.)

At the moment I'm inclined to believe that may be the case, but what I'm waiting on is for another region to list these titles, as the other ratings boards separate DSiWare/WiiWare releases out from the listings for their respective consoles.

With that said, I suspect N+ and Felix may be DSi re-releases, but Ghostbusters is likely to be a retail release.

Just wanted to drop in and say the May thread is lookin' good. Thanks, Cosmonaught and keep up the good work. 8)

I won a $150 Target gift card at work recently. I'm tempted to use it towards a DSi but I have a Lite (of course) and the Ware shop is so dull right now. Any suggestions? I'm thinking either wait (a long time) until things pick up or use it for some other game shwag.

Puzzle League Express
That would be fantastic, an express version would be great to have around. Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64 is one of my favorite puzzle games of all time so to have a portable version that's not Planet Puzzle League but just a taste of it will be nice to have.
