Take this as a rumor for now I guess. This might be an early screen of Jackal Rebirth.

Here's a screen from the arcade version of Jackal for comparison:

Images were found on Eric Testroete's personal website (he's the guy who made the papercraft big head).

http://testroete.com/index.php?location=undisclosed

It's labeled as an undisclosed Wii project. There are more images at his site.

I know he's a GAFer, I hope this doesn't get him in trouble.

Ninja release of Space Invaders Extreme Z for Japanese DSi owners.

Awesome! I always thought that Space Invaders Extreme would've been perfect for DSi Ware!

Going by the screen shots, it seems to by styled after SIE2, which is a good thing (Faster paced and saving if you die against a boss :D)

It's only 500 points though, so it'll probably be shorter than the first two games :(

Ok, so I’m a big fan of VC games, and I was wondering if any third party vendor or hacker made any classic controllers that are Genesis pads. I know that there was a SNES classic controller for Japan, but there is nothing out there for Genesis/NES/N64. I know that there are adapters out there that can let you plug an older system controller into the GC port, but I would specifically like something that plugs into the Wii remote, thereby making it semi-wireless.

I’ve even thought about posting a thread here asking for someone to quote me a price to engineer something like this, because money really isn’t an issue. It just sucks that I would pay good money to buy something and it just simply doesn’t exist.

Can anyone help me out here?

Lead The Meerkats

Platform: Wii

Rating: Everyone 10+

Content descriptors: Animated Blood, Mild Violence

Rating summary:
This is a strategy game in which players help a meerkat form a new colony in the African Savanna. Players issue commands to their meerkats and watch as they burrow networks in the sand, hunt and forage for food/prey, and protect the colony against predators. Combat with hostile predators (cobras, jackals, eagles, etc.) involves surrounding the larger animal, then clawing and biting until it falls to the ground. When meerkats attack small prey (scorpions, spiders, beetles, etc.), tiny splashes of green blood sprinkle out of the insects.

Furry Legends

Platform: Wii

Rating: Everyone

Content descriptors: Comic Mischief, Mild Language

Rating summary:
This is a platformer game in which players guide a small "fluff ball" character through colorful levels. Players hop and roll through the 2D landscapes, solve environmental puzzles, and avoid hazards along the way—spiked balls, spinning blades, stone-block enemies, etc. If players run into an enemy or hazard, they squeal in pain and burst into a cloud of green fuzz. Characters sometimes use the expletive "hell" and may engage in a play on words (e.g., "What the fluff are you doing here?" and "I am a mushroom for fluff sake!"). [italics added]

Additionally, Rayman Advance (GBA) has been re-rated. Perhaps the DSiWare game is a conversion or port of it?

Got this news over from Gamefaqs:

Data East is bringing out games for the Virtual Console Arcade.

Bloodywolf is confirmed so far - http://tst.dataeastgames.com/

I'd been wondering about this since they announced Data East Aracde Collection. I'm glad to see they are giving VC love too. Nintendo has actually gotten a lot of new support lately for VC, I'm quite surprised.

I'm in the mood for the arcade version of Ghost's 'n' Goblins. I used to play it a lot BITD and am having nostalgic memnants* of the puking guys in some dungeon/tower level. Considering that the NES version is already up there, but VC has seen multiple versions of other games, I wonder how likely Capcom is to give us the arcade version too.

When Capcom starts putting up arcade games I'd presume. No word of Capcom VCA support as of yet.

Suppose this is good for those who only want a few games from the upcoming Data East Collection. Wonder if they're going to release anything on VC that isn't on the Collection?

Unless I'm mistaken, Bloodywolf isn't on the collection though.

I'm hoping VCA support will continue (along with more neogeo games) I'm thinking of getting the upcoming madcatz TvC stick for TvC and modding it with sanwa parts and it'd be nice to have some other wii games to use it with.

Wow I've been out of the loop. Zombies Ate My Neighbours out on VC? LIT finally out in Europe? Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ a DSiWare title? (thought it was a retail DS release)

Crazy times.

So when is SNK going to start releasing some of their other games as well? I mean it’s all good we are seeing their fighting games from the Neo Geo, but I would like to see them expand a bit. Mainly I am still hoping for Crystalis. I don’t even think it’s been ESRB rated.

Yeah, I'd love to see more too. Although I think that having a Neo Geo CD game coming to the Japanese VC this month means that there is always the possibility of some of the lesser known stuff/non-fighters getting a release.

Oh yeah totally forgot about the Data East Collection.
15 games for $20 ain't a bad deal. Especially when said games will be ported by M2 and include a host of extras.

It would be way cool if Crossed Swords 2 got a VC release. Actually nevermind SNK forget I brought it up. You'll just leave it in Japan for whatever reason and I'll cry.

It was a retail title in America but it seems like they just released it as DSiWare in Europe to avoid the risks of a retail game.

It's great to have a retail game like this as a download title!

Grabbing me Bomberman :D Shame it's just four player, but having a built-in portable Bomberman is music to my ears!

Hope the delay for DSi Uno isn't too long, as that's the format I want it on.

Did the first episode of Tales of MI ever received an update/frame-rate fix?

How are chapter 2 and 3 compared to that one technically?

It's a little less bad in 2 and 3, but still noticeable. They also crash more frequently, apparently.

Have to have a look what features bomberman has. If I can play wirelessly with non DSi owners (naturally not having the game) it's a buy. If not it's only a maybe (not got far with the DQ monsters game yet - it's a bit dull).

No. Nothing beats the main nemesis boomeranging your gun so it malfunctions, your avatar then bragging about taking down the boss with your knife and then actually knifing him down.

bought "Bomberman" and "Uno"(Wiiware)

Bomberman is highly recommended. It just feels good(gameplay wise), like the SNES ones, and graphics are also perfect(no 2,5D crap). for 500 points a no brainer

UNO is a steal IMO. It's just 500 points, full online mode, Mii support and voice chat.
must get (if you are into UNO). can't wait for the DSiware version :D

Nup, unlike the retail Bomberman games on DS, everyone needs their own copy of Bomberman Blitz for local multiplayer.

Can't wait to try some wiiware demos in the near future to see if I will buy any of them. Are they going to add demos for older games or just new ones?

For those of you wondering if I'm going to run Wii Secret Santa again this year: yes. I'll post a thread in a week or two.

DSiWare will NOT be included.

For those of you wondering if I'm going to run Wii Secret Santa again this year: yes. I'll post a thread in a week or two.

DSiWare will NOT be included.

Sweet! I enjoyed it so much last year. Go ahead and tally me in.

Maybe by then SSB and pilotwings will be available in NA.....yeah right. :(

DISCLAIMER: I was the lead on Carnival King

Carnival King got reviewed this week by Nintendo Life (7.0) and IGN (6.5). The writeup on Nintendo Life seems fair, and I think IGN didn't really spend much time with the title. But hey - it's nice to get coverage.

It's also currently at #14 in the top 20 WiiWare "Popular Downloads".

Yay.

Haha, nice. =) Are there any plans for a PAL release? I got pretty interested in it after reading the Nintendo Life review.

Oh yeah guys, I wrote up some sort of review for Bomberman Blitz if anyone is interested.

Can you even gift on DSiWare? If so, can there be a separate DSiWare Secret Santa (with a note to exclude applications)? Shantae Part 1 should be coming out soon.

I know that initial talks did discuss a PAL version (as opposed to BAGS, where it was felt that Cornhole is more of an American interest than it is in Europe). I don't get to make the final decision though, so I'm not entirely sure what the current plan is. I'll see what I can find out...
