We know since before a bit of NERD's business; from their webpage:

Nintendo European Research & Development (formerly Mobiclip) is a subsidiary of Nintendo located in Paris, specialized in the field of highly optimised software technologies. We are committed to providing the gaming industry with the latest innovations in middleware.
I haven't seen mention of vector rendering in NERD context before however. Exactly what they mean by vector rendering I don't know, but it usually means something like this (from Autodesk):

You can use the Maya Vector renderer to create stylized renderings (for example, cartoon, tonal art, line art, hidden line, wireframe) in various bitmap image formats (for example, IFF, TIFF, and so on) or in the following 2D vector formats:

Adobe® Flash® (non-interactive) version 3, 4 or 5 (SWF)
Adobe® Illustrator® version 8 (AI)
Encapsulated PostScript Level 2 (EPS)
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).

As to why they are filing a trademark for this particular name I don't really understand (since that company is now called NERD). But there you have it anyway.

Maybe it has something to do with mobile middleware, given that's what Mobiclip did earlier, I think?
