Operating Income: 32,881 million yen (up 32,7%)
Net Income: 16,505 million yen (down 60,6%)

Financial Overview - Q4 FY3 2016

Net Income: 24,503 million yen (loss)

-------------------------------------------------

So, what's new for this fiscal year is that we have enhanced information about Nintendos revenue streams!

azj0s3c.jpg

Nintendos amiibo - business starts to contribute a lot of money, they increased their revenue from 38 billion yen to 52 billion yen (468.000.000 $).

For the first time, we see the new entry Smart devices, IP related income, etc., which contributed 5,7 billion yen to their revenue (which is around 51.600.000 $)

Their digital business is at an all time high at 44 billion yen (394.000.000 $), it amounts 19% of their software revenue.

While all of this is good their 3DS and Wii U business is shrinking further. (but Wii U is quite constant lol)

Wow, those are actually pretty surprising numbers of SM3DW, NSMBU, and Nintendo Land.

That number for digital is great, hope it motivates Nintendo to have a better account system next time when the NXs arrive. (most importantly, allow users to switch accounts on their own, not being required to go through the customer service) They have to, right?

On the other hand, 1.8 million copies of Fates before even releasing in Europe? That's some total insanity.

Other than that, the WiiU and 3DS seems as dead as ever. It doesn't help the NX isn't coming out until March next year. Nintendo is 90% screwed.

Actually, looking at the numbers now, I understand Nintendos decisions a bit better.

Digital business, amiibo, mobile and stuff are going to hold their revenue up while 3DS and Wii U go down, operating income in % is going to increase because of digital business and decreased production cost for 3DS / Wii U.

Look at their forecasts, it's bascially the same for this fiscal year while increasing income.

Then they open the next fiscal year with the NX and an enhanced digital, mobile and IP - business.

Pretty amazing that Amiibos are bringing in about half the revenue of the Wii U.

Also, incredible sales for MK8 at 7.5 million copies. Something something Polygon something.

Thanks immensely for compiling and posting this, Cap!

Today I expect we get info on Nintendo's second mobile game. In 14 hrs at the investor briefing.

Exactly this. Nintendo's choice to launch NX next year may anger those on gaming forums wanting fresh blood now but the choice is perfect for the company. Having these new digital and collectible outlets will easily float them through to next year, allowing more time to get the NX ready for a major Nintendo comeback.

Thanks, It would be nice to have all the hw data in the op like these threads used to have. I think a lot of people are interested in how 2DS did in Japan. Looking at the pdf (which is a pain on mobile) it looks like 100k.

Yeah, I wanted to include more stuff, but I'm at work currently.

I'll update it later though.

That's nice and all, but how can anyone justify effectively skipping the biggest gaming event of the year and holding off on the announcement? It's insanity and why I strongly believe that Kimishima is trying to make a transition to mobile as their core business. Giving investors more power supports this even more, since everyone knows that's what they want more than anything else. Mark my words: If NX flops, Nintendo will never release a hardware platform again. Your theory even supports this as they are more focused on high margins than high revenue.

Mobile isn't their core business, it helps to drive the awareness about their IPs, furthermore, the mobile market is so fragile, if you really want to rely on this.. good luck.

If they land a hit, even better.

Even a company like Nintendo can't be sure to have one hit after another and if you know Nintendos business, it's all about sustainability.

And investors don't have more power.

And E3 isn't as important as it used to be... it's just in our forum gaming hype hearts. ;__;

Saying: NX can very well be introduced without the E3, while it would be really cool.

If I read the financial sheet right, there's something I didn't understand. They posted a profit for the year, but tgeir cash and assets dropped compared to last year. Is there somethings that aren't included on the report that would cause this or am I not reading it correctly?

The LTD data is Japan + USA.

The numbers for Q1 2016 are just USA because you can't tell the japanese numbers for that timeframe from the papers. ^^

Fates almost at Awakenings LTD with only 2 regions. With the European release and continued NA sales I think it has a shot at 3M.

Miitomo reached 10 million users in lil over a month...But the Wii U has sold 12 million consoles to date?

I can see where this will go already with topics....get your popcorn ready....

I do like the 3DS SKU break down. We can see exactly how much the n3DS is selling.

Last quarter, Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold more than 3 times the amount Super Smash Bros. for Wii U did in Q1 2016. Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Wii sold the same amount. Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Galaxy sold around the same amount. New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold twice as much as New Super Mario Bros. U did in Q1 2016. Wii Party and Mario Party sold the same amount.

Am I reading this right?

You need to add holiday sales to the Wii U games to make that comparison.

I would imagine that Nintendo evergreen titles (ie stuff more than a year old) do the majority of their annual sales during calendar Q4.
