Stumpokapow

listen to the mad man
of note from the supplemental data release:
- wander donkey not on 2009 ds release list. shitcanned? (edit: removed kirby, it is on the list)
- mario tennis and pikmin gcn->wii ports confirmed for us
- valkyrie profile ds confirmed for us.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

well that's what i get for reading a list reported second-hand instead of clicking on the pdf myself. consider me ashamed. i'll put myself in a 30 minute time out in the corner.

I still think you may be on to something. Wasn't Kirby in the 08 financial reports all last year as well?

Huge numbers for the big three (SSBB, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii)... with Nintendogs and other DS games just reaching for 15 million and beyond.

It's time to count some pixels. xD

Europe Hardware:

p12.gif

Chart Track / Elspa = UK
GfK = France
Media Control = Germany
AC Nielsen = Spain

1 pixel = 71,428

2008 Europe Hardware Jan. - Sep.:
Wii = 48 pixels = 3,428,571
PS3 = 21 pixels = 1,500,000
360 = 14 pixels = 1,000,000
PS2 = 06 pixels = 428,571

There will be wiimote implementation. Pikmin 1+2 should be even more awesome with Wii Controls.

Sony marketing friendly statistics below (using 1 pixel = 71,428.57 units).

USA 2007 (Jan 1 - Sep 30):

Wii: 3,392,857 (37.3% share)
360: 2,250,000 (24.7% share)
PS2: 2,142,857 (23.5% share)
PS3: 1,142,857 (12.5% share)
GCN: 178,571 (2% share)
All: 9,107,142

USA 2008 (Jan 1 - Sep 30):

Wii: 5,107,143 +50.5% (45.8% share)
PS3: 2,214,286 +93.8% (19.9% share)
360: 2,107,143 -6.35% (18.9% share)
PS2: 1,678,571 -21.7% (15.1% share)
GCN: 35,714 -80% (0.3% share)
All: 11,142,857

+22.4% year-on-year growth for USA hardware

Actually... that's a fairly good way of testing the pixel theory because we have released NPD data to cover those periods.

USA 2008 (Jan - Aug Inclusive NPD):

Wii: 4,491,000
PS3: 2,018,400
360: 1,741,000

Are we sure it's not to the end of September which would give us:

USA 2008 (Jan - Sep Inclusive NPD):

Wii: 5,178,000
PS3: 2,250,800
360: 2,088,200

[Edit - It must be... which means that the pixel theory is pretty accurate]

Guys, are you even aware of how the pixel theory came about?
I seem to remember counting pixels long before Captain Smoker's contribution to this thread (with my Mario charts, etc), but if you'd like to speak about the origins of this dark art, then go right ahead.

Good news for Nintendo: Or how Wii and DS are #1 and #2 in hardware and software in US and Other

DS creams PSP in Europe.
p06.gif

Wii software sales defeat 360 and PS3 software sales in US.
p13.gif

Wii and DS the software kings in US. More evidence that the top 10 NPD are useless to guesstimate relative total software sales.
p15.gif

Wii and DS software account for more than half of total software market in Europe. Sonyland is no more.
p20.gif

Wii and DS software sales reaching the half way mark of total US software market.
p17.gif

DS #1, Wii #2 in Europe.
p26.gif

p25.gif

Wii strongest platform for third parties for US at respective points since launch.
p35.gif

First party sales strongest in Wii in US (ultra-obvious one).
p36.gif

Add them together, Wii the clear software winner in US, launches aligned.
p33.gif

Additionally:

Global million sellers:
DS: 69 (39 third party million sellers)
Wii: 36 (21 third party million sellers)

Bad news for Nintendo: Japanese market

DS increases its installed base at a slower rate this year in Japan.
p41.gif

Still on par with previous precedent though.

Good news for Nintendo:

WII = 29.800.000
360 = 16.000.000 - 17.000.000
PS3 = 12.600.000

29.800.000 > 28.600.000 - 29.600.000

But that's without Canada, Australia, Russia, Korea and the Rest of the World.

Concerning Europe, if I see it correctly, the Nintendo has sold around a million more Wii consoles if you count the sales of both competitors together.

As far as we know, wasn't the plan to release Metroid Prime 1 and 2 -individually- on the Wii?

If they are going to bundle 'em, I'd buy the package immediately.

Thx to BKK2 for the analysis.

All I needed to see was Wii de Asobu Mario Tennis GC.

If we can't get a decent Wii tennis game aside from Wii Sports, I am all for Mario Power Tennis to have Wii controls. :D

I haven't realized this. I hope they improve the visuals a bit on Wii. But I would prefer a straight Wii developed version.

I look at this and go WOW, that's with the absolute shit tripe that third parties have released on the Wii so far. Imagine if they had put some fucking effort into their shit, and released games of the same caliber as what they're doing on the PS360. Third parties really need to wake the fuck up already.

Well, the message Nintendo is sending to third party is pretty clear.
"We have plenty of money, so be our guest while we take a rest"

And the message from third-party on wii to Nintendo is also pretty clear.
"Nah Nintendo, we don't like money, so we will just release another 20 Animalzzz and multiplatform-games with shitty graphics and without online features"

Never finished Pikmin 2 so I'll be looking forward to that with Wiimote controls. Definitely looking forward to Metroid Prime 2 and may even give 1 a replay for the right price.
