I used to be super interested in what Nintendo was up to, but now I'm kinda "meh". Did I get old?

A
NeoGAF tech force!

So I'm going all in the the announcement of the Switch Pro.

If the actual system is going into production shortly(Digitimes stated quarter 1 this year) wouldn't developers
need development systems by now or could they just be using their current dev systems? Thanks!
Really depends what the PRO is; if it's just the current chip upclocked they would just have to update the profiles. If it is a completely new chip with substantially different performance this would require different devkits as well of course.

I also got old waiting for something to be hyped.

I mean even nintendo is doing new videos with footage of Mario odyssey. They have nothing to hype up in the horizon. Animal Crossing is a meme/niche game.

imo you are not serving a fine example with you directly attacking others for their opinions.

Aren´t all three games distinct from another? Each having it´s own style, atmosphere, characters and to an extent, even different systems in place? I can totally see why one would love XC1 but hate XC2 for instance or vice versa.

Subjective.
I get very angry when people are negative towards Xenoblade 1/2/X. Sorry. These games are my life blood, I'd sacrifice all other games for them. Seeing fellow Xeno-fans trash one of them makes me sad.

That's a good guess! The day before Valentine's Day. I think it's going to be the week after (the week of the 17th).

Why the hell is Spongebob: Battle For Bikini Bottom ReHydrated release date 12/31/2020 ......

Does it really take that long to put out an already made game?

Good job with that response, btw, but I find the Animal Crossing Wii sales kind of crazy.

Imagine being sandwiched between two ten-million sellers, in the prime of the Wii, and underperforming that much.

I liked City Folk, despite seeming like a Wild World remaster with additional content, but that’s a historic Nintendo misread on what the fanbase wanted.

Lets see how it does with a $60 price tag on a post stardew valley world. I bet it will do great, but not 12 mill great.

Maybe. :)

I think over time it's natural to just get tired of it.
It's the same routine over and over.

Speculation over when the Direct will be. It's today? Maybe it will be announced today? No? OK, tomorrow then!
Disappointment when there is a Direct but it's just for Pokemon or whatever new thing is coming up.
Speculation again. What will be announced and when.
Finally a date is announced. A bunch of leaks happen.
Then the Direct happens and everyone moans because it was the most boring one ever.
Repeat.

It's basically an advert for upcoming games.

I feel the same way about E3. A bunch of trailers for games coming next year, and beyond. That's it.

Even the indie directs have become nonsense with games being shown and then disappearing completely for months, sometimes years.

Lol

Animal Crossing is a completely different beast than Stardew.

The seasonal events in real time are what generally keeps Animal Crossing hot post launch.

I played Stardew Valley and enjoyed it but people gives too much credit to it. That game is literally a carbon copy of Story of Seasons (with some Rune Factory elements but not as interesting) and ported to PC. It hasn't exactly brought anything new, the thing is PC or even mobile players had never seen anything like that before so for them it was huge.

I think New Horizons will break 10 mln, not sure if it will outsell New Leaf only because:
1) New Leaf was a really big deal at the time.
2) We haven't seen the killer feature of this new entry yet besides the island package which really isn't anything new, it might just be a rehash of the same stuff.

I’m really excited for this DLC. Is this gonna be its own separate story same way Torna in XC2 was or is it side story within the main campaign?
I'm not sure, considering this is a secret house, i wonder if you can choose them at the very beginning or its like a new game plus type of deal where you have to have completed the main campaign once to access it.

It would be cool if you can access it at any point as a side story.

From the trailer I get the impression that they used to be full house like other 3 houses but they no longer are and just 4 of them left that you can recruit as your student.

Nintendo has clarified in the japanese website that it's a side story accessible from the main menu, and it works differently as it doesn't have the calendar system.

Once you beat it, you’ll be able to recruit the four new characters Balthus, Yuri, Hapi and Constance in the game’s main story.

Very nice! So it works like Torna in XC2, you can access it in main menu. Can’t wait!

Very excited for more information on Deadly Premonition 2. I hope Nintendo reveales more about the game in this coming direct. It's one of my most anticipated games of 2020. Original is a true cult classic.

Is Deadly Premonition good? I read about it, but I can't decide.
Deadly Premonition is a strange game, and quite hard to define whether it´s good or bad. It looks and runs like shit, stiff gunplay, the driving is horrible, repetitive boss fights and so on. If you look at it objectively, or at surface level, it is indeed a bad game. But underneath all that, is a game that captivates with a surprisingly solid script, that draws heavy influence from shows such as Twin Peaks. It has a surrealistic feel to it, the characters are fun and lovable and the music is atmospheric, which gives the game a sort of ambience feel to it, which goes hand in hand with the weird story.

In short, if high production values is something you expect when purchasing a game, Deadly Premonition is not for you. But if you want an original and strange game, that relies much on its story and characters, then maybe it is. Personally I have never played such an eccentric game before, that revels in its bizarrness with no fucks given, and makes you question whether or not it´s a wonderful gem or just complete garbage. it´s a true work of art.

I'm currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 (great game, too!). I'll be away from home in hospital for about 2 months starting February. I guess DQ would be the meatier, more relaxing game than DP?
Rotation? Which one?

Back to gaming. VC 4 is an awesome tactical game. It's a different type of game than DQ XI S, so that would be a nice change of pace. I highly recommend DQ XI S, but to each his own. Cheers, mate!

^ Don’t think I played a single video game when I was on my rotations lol. Electives are a different story.

I found a copy of Witcher 3 on switch for 55$ on Amazon Canada so I grabbed that. Plus a sale of Diablo 3. Might as well try Diablo 3, Witcher I liked but did not have the time on ps4 so I’m hoping I can get further than the opening section on Switch.

Damn, sounds great. This or DQ11S ... 🙈
I've both.

DQXI S is the better game, especially now that is on sale (is it still?).

It's a very cozy RPG, with a strong cast of characters, cool Toriyama designs, extremely cool towns (although with the same music theme shared) lots of polish in the details but also throwbacks to the old DQ games and in general to old RPGs.

It's such a great value that you can spend 20-40 hours in the casino alone.

Deadly Premonition is one of those where if the story can't get you, the rest definitely won't (besides fishing, that's fun!). But it's still something incredibly cool just for the amount of jokes, movie references and in general very good script.

So, I don't know where to ask this, but does anybody have a fix for the play activity log on your profile?

Mine always has Pokémon Shield at the top even if I've played other games since the last time I launched it.
