Nintendo Switch Sports scores third No.1 | UK Boxed Charts Evil Dead: The Game debuts at No.5

Nintendo Switch Sports has secured its third consecutive No.1 in the UK boxed charts, despite a 54% drop in sales week-on-week.

The game has faced little competition since it has launched, and with little due out over the coming months, it is likely to hang around in the Top Five for some time to come.

Speaking of games likely to hang around, Lego Star Wars: The Skywaler Saga stays at No.2 following a 27% sales drop. The Warner Bros game has been in the Top Two for six weeks and will likely be a key title over the lean summer months.

It was a very slow week for boxed game sales, with just over 100,000 units sold in total. There was one new game in the charts, Evil Dead: The Game, which debuts in fifth spot. 79% of that game's sales were on PlayStation platforms (56% PS5/23% PS4), with the remainder on Xbox.

Horizon Forbidden West getting the last laugh and becoming the go-to game for new PS5 users.
I know we hate the speculation but Chris does believe a part of that is retailers bundling 1 game as a part of the sku and that sku being the most popular.

I also personally think it is more of the fact that users are picking up a game for the wow factor and that's being H:FW and that's why we aren't seeing the same increases of sales for Rachet and Miles Morales as before.

It's fairly easy to check the common UK electronics stores. Pretty much all PS5s come with a game bundled, so what Chris says is plausible.

It's literally bundled in the box of the ps5 in the majority of units that are available.

Has its own artwork and everything.
I don't think it's possible to buy a ps5 without this game currently haha

I remember at launch it was impossible to buy a PS5 without Myles Morales, huge shame as I would've been much happier with demon souls bundled with the console, as paying an extra £50 for a game I didn't really want soured me a bit, and sadly I didn't like the game that much.

You lying sod. 🤥

Last week I had an option to pick up from Coventry with no game.
And will you look at that. The game that people buys frequently with it
If you're frequently checking stores for PS5 availability, then you have definitely noticed that most of them come in bundles when available.

No they are not. You have option to buy with no game. No shit people will buy a new system with a game with it.
I have cex next to my house. I go often to get some used games. And they have all sorts. But regardless don't move goal posts. You said you can't buy without horizon which is bullshit

This is the bundle that's mostly available in the UK. I personally think it's a genius move by Sony.

lol at the people trying so hard to spin horizon sales.
We're actually interested in sales, for example whether (as claimed by someone) Horizon could be a new evergreen title for PS5 or not. So far it's inconclusive because bundles are a big part of the sales.

Where did you get this pic from?

I believe although unpictured it's probably the reason that game.co.uk often have stock of Horizon Bundled PS5's but not individual ones or bundles without horizon.

Example if you add this bundle to your cart

It allows you to buy it.

But try to buy

Which is the console by itself, It will error out and say there is no stock

So either Game only have the preboxed sets, or are forcing people to only buy the bundle with horizon thrown in. I thought this was just a common bundle, seems to be all over.

Is there a specific reason people don't want Horizon to be bundled?

Looks nice, i haven't seen that bundle yet in Germany. All local and online only stores have the normal PS5, but you are not allowed to buy it without two or three Sony games. Only exception is Amazon, but the Amazon drops are very rare and sold out in 5 seconds.

Yeah, that's what I mean. There are all sorts of ps5 bundles.
But the narrative 🙄

All the bundles linked there though come with Horizon though, some of which appear preboxed which I believe you said was not happening as there was always the option to buy separately.

Might want to avoid calling out goal post moving in future, because we all do it, normally just not in the actual post we claim someone else is moving the posts.

I don't get why some people get so mad about it. It just explains why some games are doing better in physical charts than in digital. That's it. It doesn't change anthing.

It's just a clever move, because right now people would buy a PS5 or XSX bundled with a turd for 599 Euro.

Sony wins, retailers win and the customers win, because those bundles are easier to get than naked consoles and yet some people act like this was a bad thing.

Jesus christ...they really ran in here.
In the end all these sales will still be a part of Horizon's overall sales. Does it matter if it's physical, digital, with or without bundles?
It's #3...period.

HFW still high up in the sales charts. Forza & Halo are dead & no where to be seen on sales charts

Not sure if people are acting like it's a bad thing. It might be an inconvenience for a group of users who don't want the game.

It's definitely still a factor for the games sales numbers. How much a factor is unknowable?

It just doesn't matter for the sales or charts if people bought the games voluntarily or had to buy them. Sony sold the amount of copies and so the chart position is legit. The only difference is that ebay and stuff are full of sealed copies starting at 25 Euro, but that doesn't affect Sony or the charts.

Again I am not saying the chart position isn't legit just like I wouldnt say the series s chart position isn't legit cause of the shortage of the other consoles.

I am just saying that there is an impact on its position due to the fact that there are bundles.

Now i get what you mean. I agree, of course it has an impact. I still don't get why some people here seem to think it makes Sony look bad or for whatever reason it makes them mad if people point it out.
it reminds me of the whole convo about just posting the uk physical sales numbers, it weirdly annoyed some people but fortunately we have moved on.

It was annoying because people used it to misrepresent the software market. The narrative was that Xbox doesn't sell any games, ignoring that Xbox gamers heavily favor digital over physical.
