According to the press release for the Korean version, early 2018 for Zelda BotW. Text is localised only, no localised VA.

Switch will launch in South Korea on December 1st for 360,000 won according to the article.

Here's a pic of the games that will release in that month including MHXX. edit: Link no longer works.

Here's a quick translation of the launch games:

Zelda's not one of the launch games lol

Launch titles include SMO, 1-2 Switch, Disgaea 5, Skyrim, MH XX, USF2, Bomberman R, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Sonic Forces, Fate Extella, Xenoblade 2 and Wonderboy.

Edit:

Okay, here's confirmation it is releasing officially in Taiwan as well on December 1st.

It says the Switch will cost NTD 9,780 in Taiwan.

Edit 2:

Here is the Nintendo Taiwan press release:

http://www.nintendo.tw/pressrelease/switch_20170920.html

Has details for hardware and software.

Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, Splatoon 2, 1-2 Switch, USF2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Puyo Puyo Tetris and a bunch of Nobunaga games will be available on launch day.

I noticed that games had been including Korean language options, so I figured it was only a matter of time. Sorely needed too, original Wii is still being sold at retail.

For Switch price in South Korea, 360,000 won is approximately $320.

For Switch price in Taiwan NTD 9,780 is approximately $324.

This is not including any taxes for either assuming there's any.

I am surprised South Korea is getting the Switch so soon.

Basically, Nintendo downsized their Korean branch but surprisingly the Switch is coming out in 8-9 months after the worldwide launch.

For comparison, the 3DS came out in South Korea on April 2012, over a year after it launched worldwide and of course the Wii U never launched in South Korea.

Nope. And it's not just Capcom!

Splatoon 2 and Xenoblade 2 are also not getting localized! HYPE!

Oh and almost forgot. Switch itself also doesn't come with Korean!

Oh wtf is this.

Can this be solved if they set the language based on the region? (Oh I missed the last sentence.) Hopefully both companies have the translation ready by then.

Lol, recall the early speculation of the Switch releasing with Mario instead of Zelda because we thought Skyrim was also gonna be at launch and Nintendo wouldn't want it to overlap? Guess it ended up happening one way or the other hah

Not sure how much it would take to launch in those two countries but I hope this is also a sign that Nintendo has the stock issues taken care of.

Seems weird that Zelda isn't at launch, but I guess they still have to do VA work?
They get XX, and west still gets jack shit :/

edit: no localizations on said games, and no KR system language support? wtf

What's really baffling is that 1-2 Switch is not getting localized...

Like seriously wth!? I feel like that's one of the easiest title to localize.

No Zelda at launch is weird, but Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 will likely more than make up for its absence.

Was thinking this too. Our predictions have an unexpected way of coming true sometimes :p

Taiwan getting the same line up as Korea or are they gonna actually get Zelda?

So according to this article Nintendo Korea solely exists so they can contact Nintendo HQ.

Korean publishers have to contact Nintendo directly for publishing games on Switch.

Yeah they were downgraded from subsidiary to distributor after the Wii U and 3DS era's profits weren't outweighing the cost of operation (Wii U didn't even launch in Korea).

Weird that Splatoon 2 isn't a launch title given how popular idols and stuff are there.

If botw, mk8dx and splatoon 2 were there it would be the best launch lineup ever.

I'm not surprised about that. I linked that article earlier that mentioned that in 2016, the Korean branch of Nintendo only had 10 employees remaining after being downsized.

And in the current Annual Report for 2017, Nintendo Korea is listed as a sales subsidiary. So they are just there as the salesman/distributor.

Compare this to Nintendo Hong Kong which has absorbed a bunch of subsidiaries, I refer to iQue which was for China, now absorbed by Nintendo Hong Kong. iQue was a sales subsidiary but they are now listed as a development subsidiary.

I'm guessing that they want to keep those for 2018 to flesh out the asian release line up. I mean it doesn't matter because you can just download the other versions incredibly easily but still.

Korea's traditional video game market is very unlike the west. There are a ton of untranslated Japanese video games and if they are they usually are rare. Some will come with the complete script of the game translated in a booklet form. Sometimes games like the Kiseki series will actually get an in-game localization. It's unsurprising to me that a game like MHXX is coming to Korea but untranslated. Koreans like those games but don't mind if it's untranslated as the community has dedicated boards on Ruli or whatnot with a decent amount of help.

Thanks, that's pretty interesting.

360,000₩ isn't a bad price since they don't charge tax here (unless there is an exception I'm not aware of because its an imported product). I may pick one up eventually, but I'm not sure when. The library isn't there yet for me to justify the purchase. I already have a Wii U for MK8 and Zelda and I won't buy those games again for Switch.

I'm guessing they wouldnt be bothering launching in new markets without at least some increase in manufacturing capacity so hopefully this is a sign they'll beat the 10 million for the year?

Nintendo Hong Kong (also responsible for Taiwan region) will make some new announcement on 27/9. It may be the long speculated local eshop and Chinese UI

It's here in the press release:

http://www.nintendo.tw/pressrelease/switch_20170920.html

I see Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, Splatoon 2, 1-2 Switch and a few others including third party games will be available on launch day.

Interesting to note, but Fire Emblem, Puyo Puyo, USF2, Odyssey, and MK8 (out Dec 15) are the only games with confirmed support for Chinese. Xenoblade 2 is shown as TBA for language options, Splatoon is Japanese only, and 1-2 Switch is Japanese, English, and 'others'.

That could be iQue doing the localisation since they are a development subsidiary now which is under Nintendo Hong Kong.

I guess we'll have to wait till the games release and see the credits to confirm who is localising the first party games.
