How come one Pokemon game does better than the other? They're both the same game...

Pokémon Pearl shouldn't have had a pink Pokémon on the cover.

Bah, real men don't let covers dissuade them...but at least the cartridge ain't pic eh? :p

Anyway, how often have these charts been posted? I honestly didn't know the WIFI Connection was actually that busy especially considering how dead Diddy Kong Racing's WIFI is. (but I guess the fact it's not on the list answers my question)

Funny how every game went up in numbers since last week. And Pokemon is a beast in just about any way possible, and it has yet to come out in Europe and is just out in the US.

These Animal Crossing numbers amaze me. Really, It's only friend codes shit and is passing Mario Kart which has "free" online game (no friends needed I mean).

Pokémon confirms that the method is working.

Which is exactly why - despite all the whining here and at gaming sites - Nintendo have stuck with Friend Codes for their titles.

Hopefully the Wii system for third parties will be more relaxed thanks to the lack of hardware limitations - Elebits using the Wii address book for swapping of maps and pictures is kinda promising - but I'm certain all future Nintendo games will retain Friend Codes.

I wish Mario Strikers was coming out in the US this month. I saw the video on the gameplay and online function. It looks pretty good.

Great thread BTW. Good info to have.

This has been my thought ever since the info was given that there had been more than three million users for the DS WIFI Connection that Nintendo gave out back in January. With numbers like these that concern weekly connections it kind of gives some justification for Nintendo to continue using the system when it actually seems to be working.

I'd certainly want something a hell of a lot more flexible, but just as money talks so do results and there are quite a few people out there that don't seem to give too much a damn about Friend Codes with one of the highest played online DS games is one that can only be played online through friend codes as it is.

This is the third week I've posted these. Diddy Kong Racing DS this week had 18,730 connections.

Ya, but every game in the Top 10 went down last week, except Pokémon Diamond & Pearl.

I'm having a bit of trouble 'decoding' games running off the Wii Number, but they seem to work. Other Wii games, like Strikers, should be tracked :)

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
If you can get Wii games like PBR, has there been aynthing on how often the WFC mode in Elebits has been used?

That's it, that's it.

The friend codes is something that hardcore gamers are hating, but we all know that videogame industry isn't leaded by hardcore gamers.

It's pretty impressive that games that uses "Friend only" modes are doing so well, moreover because I have not a lot of actual friends with a DS and these games.

I suppose I should go and meet new friends in the real life and bring them into the gaming world :D

And well, with the Wii the future is promising. Thanks to the Wii's own friend code we well see games which doesn't asks for friend codes to play with, but on the other hand... every player in Mario Strikers will have it's own code... so who knows?

Well, it can be bothersome, but nothing that will not be easily overcome here in NEOGAF.

Nice charts again!

Due to you and these charts (and Picross next week :) )I actually made an effort and got my DS online!

I played Clubhouse Games mostly, which got me to thinking - these are the number of connections right? Is the tool flexible enough to allow you to see how many unique users there were? Naturally it'd only work on individual games, but it'd be cool to see whether the amount of connections and the amount of users are close (few games played each) or distant (each player connects many times).

Keep up the great stats!

Ya, that is the biggest deviance in here. But I'm sorry, I can't provide that information :(

Me wants to know too. It would make a difference.

Well, in the end, the difference is knowing how much different people is actually playing the game. Your data shows how many connections which is fine enough to know which games are more popular and which games aren't popular at all.

I like to check the stats before checkin official Nintendo WiFi tables.

Yes it tracks Wii games too. That is, if the game's serial number is known so it can be added in the game DAT and loaded in WFCStatus :)
