Nintendo Wii Private Launch Party, has nothing to do with this thread.

Ok, source is GameLife Melissa - so, let's spare those comments - but primary source of info here is an e-mail sent by Nintendo which says a private launch party will be held on November 17th. Since these launch parties are usually very close or on the actual day of the launch (usually!), does that mean it's gonna be a late November launch for Wii?

think of the wii party that day as an avenue fo rnintendo to sell more consoles. think about wii lunches early. then on the 17th have a big party inviting people who can't get ps3 to try the way and then use 70 out of that 600 plus to get a wii.

I don't think necessarily launching before or after the PS3 means anything for the wii as they are in different stratospheres in terms of pricing. All days before black friday might as well be the same day, cause they really don't matter outside of hardcore circles. Unfortunately everyone waits for the actual season to start due to the deals and all that. Anyway, I don't want to wait that long I hope they release this in Japan first.

It could be the following Monday. Like Zero Hour...exclusive for the cool people. Then everybody else gets it later.

It would be incredibly ****ing stupid for Wii to launch any later than two weeks or so before the PS3 launch. At least we shouldn't need to wait more than a few weeks for the suspense to be over (maybe less than 36 hours, if we're lucky...)

Too late for what? The systems are all going to sell out initially, and Wii is in a totally different price range than PS3 and certainly it won't be stepping on 360's toes this christmas. Would it really matter if the launched three weeks earlier? I highly doubt it. The hype trains are going to overlap somewhat regardless.

I still find it shocking that people doubt the inevitable success of Wii. Regardless of what you feel on the platform, Nintendo has put this shit on the rocket path.
