Hey, now that we are talking about this usual the usual third-pillar strategy, is a good time to post this.
This is how Nintendo introduced NX (Switch) to developers, and was leaked in some dev documents yesterday.
This is how Nintendo introduced NX (Switch) to developers, and was leaked in some dev documents yesterday.
The biggest advantage of the NX is that it is a portable video game system. You can use it as a console to connect to your television, or you can leave the living room and play using the LCD screen.
One of our goals with the NX is to change a gaming experience that was previously restricted to using a television to one that enables taking that experience with you when you walk away from the TV.
As a result, there are major differences between the NX and so-called handheld systems:
- A system on a chip (SoC) that affords much better performance and much larger amounts of memory when compared to traditional Nintendo handheld systems
- A focus on large-screen gaming experiences instead of a focus on easy handheld operations
- The possibility of stand-based gaming, where you play with the screen raised and the controllers separated from the system
These differences are intended to provide users with new gaming experiences that enable them, in ways that were not previously possible for console devices, to take games that can be played by multiple people in front of a single screen, games that use motion control, and games that offer abundant performance and large-screen features out into the world so users can keep playing.
Games that previously could only be played in front of a television can now be used with a handheld system that enables gameplay while moving from place to place, or when you are away from home, without the need for complex procedures or additional peripherals.
We believe that the NX offers a gaming experience that enables players to have fun with their favorite games whenever and wherever they want.

Mario and Zelda cartoons were the shit back in the day. I even had the Mario/Zelda cereal. It was pretty good, and then it was discontinued. Can't hurt getting back into that stuff.
I see kids wearing Nintendo and Pokemon shirts all the time. They definitely have a strong grasp on the kid market these days even without that stuff.
