Nioh - New PS4 Pro Gameplay - Ogress Boss Battle

Yup, I said most cause I wasn't sure if there was an enemy in the beta(didn't finish the beta due to real life obligations) that didn't play by the rules

I wouldn't mind if there was if they executed it well. Its fun to meet an enemy that forces you to rethink things. Just have to implement it properly into the confines of the game.

Well the idea of having to manually pick every item up by holding a button for a few seconds seems like it could become a bit of a chore. However if there is such an abundance of items, or a large amount of things that players would not be interested in, then it may be that players don't want to auto pick everything up. Alternatively, if you have limited inventory then you don't want to auto collect items to have to then dump them every so often.

Are there some items that you automatically collect? What sort of things do enemies drop?

Enemies drop just about everything you can think of: weapons, consumables, stat items, gear, etc. The game is very much a loot game like Diablo, You can get a basic indication of whether or not you would want the gear that gets dropped based on a little red down arrow or blue up arrow. Head, Torso, Legs, Hands, and Feet are the equipment slots. Two accessory slots as well.

200 item slots on your person. The only things that auto-collect are gold and amrita.

Honestly, gear can be used in a lot of different ways, so there is good reason to pick a lot of it up.

Never thought the game was a looker but these images now impressed me:

From Nioh's official Facebook page.

Looks good to me. I am honestly fine with the way the game looks.

And even though they're reportedly going to revise the "weight limit" aspect a bit, there's still likely going to be the merit of even deciding if you "should" use a certain piece of armor, or bother specing your William around it.

The beta pretty much made it clear if what you were wearing was too heavy for him, it was going to impede William's performance (re: more stamina use, etc). It was actually a thing I appreciated, especially if you wanted to play the game stylishly.

What, lots of loot to collect too? Almost like Diablo?!

Goddamn it, game's starting to sound better by the minute. I might have to get it day one after all.

The loot follows the same basis as most loot-crawlers and such, like Diablo etc. Items levels,"rarity" color codes, random bonus attributes and abilities, the whole works.

Someone needs to change the thread title--the words "Ogre" and "Battle" are too close together and I keep getting triggered every time I see the thread.

Kusarigama, aka the chain-sickle.

My prediction is that Naginata would be in the same weapon class as spears, similar to how axe and hammer are lump together.
Ah, cool. Sounds like it'd have quite the fun moveset.

I do hope naginata are in the game and separate from spears though. Naginata are slashing polearms, not spears, which are thrusting weapons, and you wouldn't use them the same way at all.

I'm noticing a lot of people in this thread who are talking like they didn't play the alpha OR (for the love of GOD) the BETA. The beta was WAY more refined holy shit.

You guys, this game is friggin amazing and you missed your chance (twice) to play one of the bestest action rpgs this gen. I hope they release another "demo" so you guys can try it before you buy it. I am gonna play this game until my eyes bleed. I'm gonna beat all twilight missions and will also probably PLAT this game.
Is about fucking time to play a game like that.
Enough of pretty games with bad gameplay.

You want Ninja Gaiden, but hated Bloodborne for it's difficulty?
Yeah, that made me raise an eyebrow, hah. I beat Dark Souls at SL1, but ragequit NG2 on the Xbox 360 so fast...

Giving you a deep combat system with a ton of options to play around with is artificial difficulty because it's confusing...?
Aye, truly a confusing post.

I didn't like the alpha but I love Souls games. After watching this my interest has piqued.
I was the same. Love Souls games, didn't like the alpha. But let me tell you that the beta was amazing. I loved it, played it for hours on. It fixed literally every problem I had with the alpha.

If i can beat bloodborne can i handle this game? I don't want to get a game thats out of my league.

I'm normally pretty good at action games but it depends on the games themselves mostly.

It really does look good and interesting thats why i'm curious.

Is the demo still available?
Sadly no longer available, but you'll be fine, I think. Worst case scenario, you could always coop or grind for a few extra levels if you're stuck.

I still don't know what to think of this. I'm a Dark Souls fan so this feels like something I should like, but it looks like a low budget copycat.

Plus I kind of grew bored of DS by the time I'd finished the third one since it seemed to just be yet another retread. The big switch up in lore is appealing but it doesn't look like the gameplay is there at all from what I've seen of it.
Should have played the beta. It's not a clone. It has major influences from Souls games, but it does its own thing too. It has arguably more depth to the combat, even.

Getting people that haven't played the alpha or beta to not misjudge this from a youtube video... I would say it'll be an uphill battle, but I'm starting to think it's one not worth it at all. Just /shrug and move on.

All it takes is fighting a boss (and beating it) to realize how Nioh is its own thing. I'm not even talking about the aesthetics or gear system or anything, just really down to gameplay.
Yeah, I'm with you.

The more Nioh got more and more popular over time, the more Soulsborne crowd coming and talk crap about Nioh
"I like my thing better than this thing. Therefore, fuck this thing."
Haters keep taking this L.
Huh? What are you guys even talking about? Most people excited for Nioh are also Souls fans... me included.

Is the stream at 4K? Is this 4K 60fps? I can't tell (no sound right now from my PC. Is it mentioned?

Still not able to pre-order this on Amazon.co.uk for some reason. Can't wait for this.

From what little I've saw, a lot of chain uses. And things like high stance increases the range you swing at.

The reason why I think the Naginata would be group with the spear is because the move set for the spear has slashing attacks as well, and it's not like you can't use the Naginata for stabbing even if it's a slashing weapon.

It's also ironic because one of the common criticisms of Soul were their graphics. Saying this looks Low Budget somehow implies Souls is some graphic powerhouse.

As this game gets closer to release there's an increase trend in people trying to downplay it in relations to Souls.

To be fair, Koei Tecmo hasn't been helping by making their gameplay look 'standard' Souls instead of playing it to its strengths.
