MSRP for a standard New 3DS XL is $199.99. This is $219.99 and comes with a game ($40 on release) and two sets of faceplates (~$20 each).
Well, we don't know the MSRP of cover plates in NA but judging by other regions they'll probably be around $20 and it comes with an extra set, plus it comes with a game.
My MH4 nXL (with game) was $230 and the AC:HHD n3DS is $220
Don't know but its on amazon. Guess you want to use your red card and get a bit of discount.
Yeah I was disappointed too. I already have a white jpn version.
...all my portables are black (except special versions) and i want to keep it like that... my hands tend to sweat so white hardware is a no-go for me.

Just give it some time, guys. If Fire Emblem Fates shows up in NA without a black N3DS bundle, I think that's where it's time to bite.

There's no reason why it shouldn't. It's just a plastic base with a connector where you plug the power supply. In terms of the connectors all 3DSes (of the same form factors) from all regions are the same. So no problems i think.

Yes, the charging stands have always been "region free". I ordered two white ones, but now I am wondering if I should have bought mint and pink. I see in photos that the white plastic doesn't quite match the white of the system. Oh well.

At first, I was questioning the Isabelle cover plate, but after seeing the photos posted here, I think it looks great! I really hope NOA decides to release st least the Animal Crossing related cover plates here. I would buy them all in a heartbeat.
I already thought the included "happy home" cover plate looked fantastic just from the box art, so I bet it will look even better in person.
I don't have a problem with being embarrassed or too much of bro gamer to use any of the cover plates out there. If you want to hide the fact that you are playing Nintendo games behind a 1990's beige cover plate, then I feel sorry for you.
I strongly suggest you don't do anything. Nintendo is fast with shipping and repairs, but there is a very high chance you will receive your system back unfixed. Their refurbished system are indistinguishable from new, however. It is also a crap shoot if you get your data transferred. It is not worth it if the pixel is stuck on the edge.
If Kmart won't exchange for you, then simply buy a new system (take out of box, power on, check for flaws before buying), transfer your system, and return the defective one using the new receipt.

Bought mine from play-asia, and they arrived in four days. Warning: stock from most import sources is low due to imminent release in NA, I assume. I imagine trying to find cover plates after this weekend may be even more difficult.
eBay also has a good selection from exporters with free shipping, but cost is a bit above retail.

Yes. I posted the 3DSXL as an example of what I feel would be "limited", but I see now that this bundle is not being promoted as a limited or special edition.
I have no actual gripes with the functionality of the product.

I think I'm going to go to Target first thing in the morning on Friday just to see if they have stock. If they do, I'll grab it then. If not, well I'm up early enough for McDonald's breakfast!
I can't see why they wouldn't. Unless they're getting 1 unit per store.

It's not unusual for Target too get low stock and it sells out in minutes for special 3DS models.

but the box has the serial number and the system should match the box, so I am not sure if I can do that. The serial number appears on the receipt
You have to find a store selling the system that does not track the serial number. There are fewer such stores these days. As I said, you should probably just accept your system the way it is. A stuck pixel on the edge is minor.
Buy a new 3DS on Friday and sell your XL.

Usually if Target has an item in their flyer, they will have stock of said item. That said, when I got my Pikachu 3DS XL from them, they received 3 systems (which was 1 box) to sell. Needless to say, the system sold out within minutes of the store opening.

I bought my mom a Pikachu XL, it was mid-afternoon when we got there and Target didn't have any left, but we went to Wal-Mart and they had one left so we price matched there. Several employees came over as we were checking out and said how jealous they were and that they didn't realize they still had one. I guess that model was just seriously limited.

Thanks! I'm going to aim to be there when they open, and hope they get at least a few. When I went early morning when the original XL released, I think I recall seeing three or four of each color (red and blue) and I was the only one waiting.
That was in Florida though, I'm in Chicago now, so we shall see how it all works out!
Animal Crossing is the type of game that's best digital, though!

If they're selling it at midnight, I'll definitely be there. No reason why they wouldn't unless they're getting delivery on Friday. Hopefully I can pick up the amiibo retro 3-pack at the same time. Don't want to leave the house Friday as I'll be expecting the new iPhone to be delivered.
