Now that Tiger has won the Masters

Maybe EA can get the fking PGA license back and get TW Golf back in gear.

TW14 was so good, especially from an online perspective. The Country Clubs were so much fun; invite friends, organize daily & weekly tournaments among them, just perfect. The gameplay was magnificent, it had excellent course variety, great customization options, and then...

Not only did Tiger fall, but so did the game. And the schlock EA came back with for Rory McIlroy, well... I'd rather swim in vomit, and not my own.

So let's go, EA. If Tiger can find redemption, so can you. 👉

They should have a career mode where you rise to fame, then play a minigame where you bang a pile of pornstars (it could be a rhythm game maybe EDIT: It could be that mini-game from Wario Ware where your mom is trying to catch you not sleeping, but replace the mom with Tiger's wife, and replace your character with Tiger banging a pornstar). Then your wife takes half of everything and you have to play a graphic novel style game where you go into sex rehab and become a tabloid celebrity. Then you rise to the top again and everyone forgets what a scumbag you are because you Golf well.

Well, let me clarify:

I'm not necessarily saying I need Tiger to be the face of the game. He might still be a scumbag. I don't know.

But there hasn't been a good golf game since TW14, and that's what I want back, with or without Tiger.

I wouldn't even call Tiger a scumbag. He just cheated on his wife. Like are we really judging people's whole character based on that now?

Don't forget the fighting game part.

Was gonna say the same thing there. Like how many people make mistakes like that, men and women alike. But I guess it's in these days to make sure no public person (or perhaps not even public) is ever forgiven for their "sins". His ex-wife took half his wealth to which she contributed nothing anyways, he paid his dues.

Tiger has never been a scumbag. His dad dying sent him off the rails and he sabotaged his marriage, the media was desperate to portray him as a villain. Even when he was driving on his prescribed back medicine, they stuck the boot in.

I watched him all weekend, delighted he won. If i were him, I'd stick a big fat finger up to all his doubters, and not give them a single interview or moment of his time. Anyway pardon me, I'll get back to the jokes.

To be honest....not all media members treated him that way. And many thought Tiger got too much love the first time around for being the "perfect" athlete. As if he had no flaws. His image was almost too clean.

Of course, the more trashy ones like tabloids and the bbc were poor, people in golf knew the truth. He's showing people who he really is now , he never celebrated like he did yesterday.

The Rory McIlroy game a few years ago was solid, if a little lean on features and bells and whistles. I'd like to see another, more fleshed out entry, sure.

I want a really good golf game that looks similar to Everbody’s Golf, is more realistic, has a really good course designer, and maybe even comes with a custom controller built for the job. Maybe even MS bring back Links, you hear me Mr Spencer!....I love a good golf game!

The old TW games were great. A bit too easy mind, but still very good.

You just describe The Golf Club. I liked TWG as well, the TGC2 is a solid golf game.

Didn't know he won, so that's what the tweet was about.
I saw some tweet from the old days and him wearing the masters jacket or whatever again.
Kinda incredible honestly to still have "it" after many years, as for the rest I do find golf games fun but can't say I know all the details about him or his ex.

My friend would be so happy if EA just did that, he loves golf games. Ireland is fairly into it in general....

I remember playing golf games years ago and enjoying them. I wouldn't mind another.

I don't watch golf, but always wanted to find a good golf game. Seeing the scenes of Tiger Woods winning made look up his games on the Xbox 360. From what little I've read, it seems PGA Tour 14 is the best one to pick up.

I don't think Tiger is back. He's now just one of a bunch of mediocre golfers that can put together a good weekend and win a major here and there.

It is, but the online features are long dead. 😢

I can't tell if this is a serious post or not, because it's pretty damn clear you don't watch golf if so.

He just won on one of the hardest course to play 4 rounds on, with 6 top 10 in their prime players(13 majors combined between them) all separated by only 2 shots heading into the final round & the final 7 holes. Tiger faced a much stiffer field then in the early 90's/2000's coupled w/ all the pressure in the world on him.

Tiger had 4 back surgerys, a torn acl & ruptured achilles over the past 12 years. 4th surgery on back was spinal fusion which luckily allowed him to walk & stand with no pain, it was his final option. Nevermind all the numerous personal issues. 1 year of rehabilitation later & he wins a tournament his first year back on top of nearly winning the British Open along with the FedEx Cup championship (last year). Mind you, this is after he never thought he'd ever play golf again. 2nd year back, he's already got the best major in the bag, the Masters. First major in 11 years, 14 years since his last Masters title & 12 years since his health issues arose.

Winning a major is one of the hardest things a golfer can do, no matter how good you are. Winning a tournament is hard enough, winning a major or two for that matter is on a whole other level. There's a reason why you only have an extremely small minority of golfers who have done so since the inception of golf. Only 35 golfers have won 2 majors, 10 with 5 or more & only 3 with 10 or more. That doesn't make the rest mediocre, it just shows you how damn hard it is. If you actually golfed, you would know this.

The scary thing is he keeps getting better. Sincerely one of the best, if not the greatest comeback story of all-time. Nevertheless, I'll just chalk up your post as ignorance.

How is cheating on your wife not make you a scumbag if she herself also wasn't cheating? Also he did it multiple times.

There's one thing to criminalize him likes hes some kind of evil demon, sure, but let's not pretend he wasn't a scumbag.

I'd love a new Tiger Woods game, especially if they finally released a new one for the PC. Thing is though, I'm not sure I trust EA to do it right any more. A lot (most?) of the games in the series were centred around unlocking stuff, and I don't trust EA to do that these days without going all in on microtransactions. Their other sports titles have Ultimate Team, and I'm sure they'd try to monetize the heck out of a new PGA game. Hell, perhaps the lack of an easy way to do that was why they dropped the PGA license.

Okay, fine he is a scumbag. That makes him no different than almost every major athlete on multiple teams in multiple leagues and many celebrities out there. So what?

That doesn't diminish what he accomplished.

Yeah as people have said it isn't just his personal hardship it was his injuries over the past decade. It was a really big accomplishment that he just pulled off. I thought he would have done this a long time ago but the injuries really put a pause on it. His comeback and first ever win being behind on a Sunday Is one of the biggest accomplishments by an athlete ever.

Actually many of them didn't cheat on their wives.

Again there's one thing to say "he did bad stuff" but is still a major player and then another to go "he did nothing wrong because I like him"

but many of them did....and still do....and will in the future. Or are we going to seriously pretend that adultery is unique to Tiger Woods?

Not sure why Tiger is the one athlete where this is a factor we can't let go.

It's called sex addiction, & he even went to to rehab for it. People make mistakes, it's life.

Him & his ex-wife are on great terms. In fact, she even went to his after party for the Masters to celebrate with him.

It's one thing to kick someone while their down, it's another to hold it against the person for the rest of their life after he's made amends.

One has to wonder, what kind of person is the one continuing to judge someone even after the fact, truly are?

Food for thought.

They should never of dropped him in the first place. The TW games were decent sellers every year, and the new game with sweetheart Rory (who is also supposed to be a dick in real life), bombed so hard that we havent had a PGA Tour golf game since and EA dropped the license.
Once again, they listened to SJW's, and now EA dont have a golf franchise anymore.

Sorry this doesn't work.

You aren't even doing what you're stating. You aren't forgiving tiger because he went to rehab and supposedly fixed himself up, you're acting like he did NOTHING wrong at anything which is why you believe he was never a scumbag because of his achievements. You're acting like it never happened. It has nothing to do with judging, he WAS a scumbag. Period. Your fan goggles are in the way.

Whether he changed and should be forgiven doesn't mean it didn't happen.

TBH, I prefer the Hot Shots Golf/Everybody Golf games over the Tiger Woods releases. They felt like they had more passion and content put into them.

Sure it does. He had an illness, an uncontrollable urge & sought help when his life imploded around him. Simple as that.

In similar fashion to people w/ eating disorders/gambling/alcohol/drugs etc., the only way to fix it is to hit rock bottom and/or seek help to manage it. The way the mind computes for people with such illnesses can never be understood by the people who are judging them.

Whether you want to acknowledge it is in fact an illness which affects quite a few people, hence why there are rehab clinics, is on you. However you want to quantify that he WAS a scumbag, that's your choice as well. Just know, not everything is as clear cut as it appears.

I agree with you and I don't know why its hard for people to understand despite all that with the injuries, the state of his physical body and not even being able to walk to then winning the masters is still one of the biggest comebacks in sports history.

I'm definitely in the Bill Burr school of thought on this.

*mind the channel, it's the first one that came up in YT search 'Bill Burr Tiger Woods'.

He isn't a villain, but he's not a victim either. He made bad choices, and it hurt his likeability. Did you expect people to still love the guy? Loosing popularity for doing stupid shit is part of the fame game. Just like everyone loves a good comeback. It's all drama. Think of fans like stockbrokers they still win if Tiger's stock goes up or down because both equal entertainment.

Where is this nonsense coming from? No one is saying what he did is okay, or that it didn't happen.

The OP just wanted golf games back. You're worried about our "fan goggles" when it's very clear you're blinded by hatred for this guy. Why is that?

nani17

are in a big trouble
The game has been shit for years. Putting Tiger back on the cover doesn't mean the game will be better.

However if they market it right if he returns it could sell copies but again doesn't mean it will be better

How am I blinded by hatred for stating a fact that he "was" a scumbag and that it happened?

Again, this is nothing more than fan googles, your not adding irrelevant hyperbole to the conversation. All I'm saying is you can't erase history because he's your favorite guy and pretend he had a perfect record, and the discussion ends there, you're trying to spin it into an extended argument by pulling "hatred" out of nowhere in a desperate attempt to be a defense force for no reason.

As of now the other poster has already agreed it happened, all I'm saying is that we shouldn't try erasing things as if they didn't happen, because that usually tends to come back.

Scumbag just seems like a strong word for someone who cheated on his wife (repeatedly). I can still understand someone using it to call somone that but mostly if it is the person who was cheated on or a close friend and family member of the victim using it.
