Hello guys,
I thought I would open a new thread. So I just read that the remasters of tomb raider I, II, III are cancelled. Which is a pity, I was really looking forward to them. Nowadays I don't really play many games anymore (it's hard to find much time between work, family, and so on) apart from wrpgs, action/adventure or walking simulator and a few others genres (maybe one or two per month if I'm lucky). So I will start saying I don't like at all the new tomb raiders. Finished the first one and it was a slog for me, and the second one I didn't even want to finish it (arrived halfway and was bored and uninstalled it).
So now that the remasters are cancelled, is there any game you could recommend that can scratch that itch:
- Puzzle platforming ?
- Large tombs to explore?
- "Archeological" theme if possible.
- Not too much combat. If there is something I hated from the reboots, is how much combat there is. I don't like fighting thousands of enemies one after the other. It's just not for me It's ok having some combat, but not hundreds of enemies. I don't want to play a shooter or a game focused only on action.
- No open world filled with thousands of icons, markers and boring side activities. I got the open world fatigue and I especially don't like the maps filled with thousands of repetitive side activities and collectibles. It's okay for the map to have some secrets and some collectables to find, but these should be rare, with a lot of space to explore in-between (negative space to feel isolation), not too many of them and hard to reach or find.
- Not too much hand holding, especially with maps telling you exactly what to do and how to reach every location. I loved games when you didn't have any maps, or at least maps didn't hand hold you.
Games like old tomb raiders or even indiana jones and the infernal machine to sum it up. Even if it doesn't have an archeological theme, it's ok.
I'm thinking of replaying anniversary or a few of the latest tomb raiders (before the reboots). But the old ones are hard, with no support controller, and I'm not sure if they even work on windows 10. I tried the adam venture game on steam, but they were mediocre or plainly bad in many parts, but that is the type of game I was looking for, just made better (because that adam venture remake was mediocre or bad) .
