Notes:
- "The launch of Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch, and month 2 sales of Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy drove software gains"
- ”Nintendo's Splatoon 2 was the best-selling title of the month," said Piscatella. ”Three of the month's top seven best-selling games are published by Nintendo. Nintendo was also the best-selling software publisher in July."
- In June, Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 fought their way to the top of charts. Since then, Tekken 7 has cratered from its No. 1 position to No. 20. Injustice 2 is still in the top 10
- Though Horizon Zero Dawn has slipped off the overall charts, Piscatella says that it contributed to a resurgence of role-playing games. Along with titles like Nier: Automata, Persona 5, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the RPG year-to-date sales have grown over 50 percent year-over-year.

Hardware:

Nintendo Switch: #1

Notes:
- ”The Nintendo Switch was July's best-selling hardware platform," NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. ”[That was] driven by new inventory released in support of the launch of Splatoon 2."
- "New supply of Nintendo Switch and continued strength of PlayStation 4 pushed hardware higher."
- ”Year to date, hardware spending has grown 20 percent versus 2016 to $1.6 billion," Mat Piscatella said. ”Performance of the Nintendo Switch continues to be the primary cause of the year-on-year gains."
- Of course, none of this means folks have forgot about the PS4. That system doesn't have supply problems, and Sony has built up an impressive lineup of games for it this year. That has led to it outselling all other hardware platforms year-to-date, according to Piscatella.

ARMS hanging on for dear life.

People buying more sun than moon makes me sad because that means fewer of the ultra beasts I need in circulation.

What's the lowest GTA5 has been this year? Seems to always be around the top, just insane at this point.

Happy Crash and Splatoon are doing well.

I'm around if people have questions.
Any reason Xbox One accessories would drive stronger growth over PS4 accessories? Seeing as this is spending, I don't see a sale on gamepads driving so many more units than what would be normal.

Fantastic numbers all around. Software and hardware are up. There are some great games charting. Crash is killing it. Horizon's still in the PS4 charts and has done remarkable this year. A relatively new Nintendo IP does extremely well on a new console.

Love it.

It finally happened - everyone on Earth now owns a copy of Grand Theft Auto V. Now we'll all start buying it for our pets.

Great to see sales for both software and hardware go up after a pretty slow and potentially dangerous period last year. I will give Switch credit where its due. Their games are selling well and the console launch has breath life back into this gen.

Maybe mid gen Nintendo launches is exactly what we need.

You see that Square! TZA age sold well! Now make a new XII sequel or a new Ivalice game, you don't have anymore excuses.
