Okay since we're talking about Horizon, what is the original's LTD? Aqua, do you have that info? I'm really curious.

^^ Well that was convenient timing. Thanks for the info. or not. Chartzzz. Come on now.

Yep, check the OP of the predictions thread where I made the list of new software / hardware releases.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=906254

I love how Chartz just takes GAF leaks and parrots them over there without sourcing anyone on GAF.

Like when Creamsugar says "XYZ = 42K"

they're like:

"XYZ = 42K"

...almost immediately...like they're watching this thread constantly or something.

If they're so intent on taking stuff revealed and talked about on GAF...why don't they just discuss it here? Why make a thread using entirely GAF information when you could be on GAF doing it?

I just don't get it.

Because they have members there thinking their numbers are legit.

Even if total October hardware sales end up being the same as this month, 1.2 million units sold, total hardware sales will not surpass 2012, which are the second lowest in the last decade after last year. Keep in mind hardware sales typically drop from September to October.

I thought it was possible the market would return to 2002-2005 hardware sales, but even 2015 is uncertain. Last year November and December composed roughly 57% of the entire hardware sales for 2013, which was the highest in the last decade. In 2006 when the Wii and PS3 launched the two months made up 49% of total sales, with the following year the percentage dropping by six. I could see November and December being half of total hardware sales for this year, meaning 17 million consoles and handhelds being sold in 2014.

So overall hardware sales this year as other have said doesn't look particularly healthy thanks to a weak handheld market.

Do people really consider word of mouth a real thing?

We don't live in the 90s anymore...

I don't consider things said over the internet "word of mouth".

Tell that to Apple and the 'bendable' iPhone 6+ that I heard handfuls of comments about from co workers. And popped up on the news.

Lets not forget where all that started....

See the Antonio Banderas gif done by company execs and at console launch events, game award shows.

Also ....see XBO policy reversals. Its a real thing because:

Word of mouth is even more potent now given how significant a role social media plays in our lives now.

Youtube, Facebook, Twitter (take your pick or use them all) is all you need to spread it.

I hopped over to see what you were talking about, and this is the first post I saw -

Really interesting that Destiny performed better on Xbox One despite all of that marketing and promotion by Sony. That fucking game hogged up so much time at 2 Sony E3's.

It was the worst selling 360 Forza game (out of Forza 2, Forza 3, Forza 4, Forza Horizon).

It did...just okay. Not great...not bad...just okay.

I figured that would be the case. Shame too, because it was such a good game.

I wonder if we'll get a FH3.

Also the FH2 promted you to pre order the digital version. Its not going to be easy to track how 2 is actually doing.

Hmm, I imagine WW Destiny must have topped 4M through September then, with something like 200K in Japan, more than half a million in the UK, probably closer to 600K there. Continental Europe and other PAL should presumably bring it past the mark easily.

I'd suggest you remove the above. Either Aqua will assault you in your sleep, or you will be asked to do so by a mod.

Food for thought.

I not seeing how that's gonna get people to buy there console, it's 2 different market's. Wiiu and 3ds have a similar line up when it comes to Nintendo games, yet the 3ds is selling far better then the Wiiu ever will.

well the idea is to have profitable hardware. right now they don't. if they have a library people want, that's the attraction, and theoretically both the hardware and software make money.

edit: This may sound stupid, but there is a precedent.

Long long ago when GT3 came out, it was released around the same time as when the fast and furious exploded, and interest in import cars was huge. Not directly related, but it sure as hell boosted interest in driving.

That's actually an interesting point.

I think we're witnessing something similar given the boost FIFA has recieved this year, largely from World Cup hype.

Youtube, Facebook, Twitter (take your pick or use them all) is all you need to spread it.

Agreed.

Sorry, I just googled it and that popped up. Is it bad?

Chartz numberz are completely made up by some crazy madman who wants to get rich off of people's ignorance.

NPD + GfK + Famitsu numbers are real numbers sourced from real sell-through data.

NPD numbers are oftentimes very different from Chartz numbers.

The ps4 is not the PS3 is not the ps2. Bumps do not a healthy market make. See: Wii U
Comparing the Wii U to the PS4 is silly for a lot of reasons outside the scope of this thread.

You're convinced JRPGs on consoles are dead. I'm not, and I'm willing to bet the market in 2016 will show what I'm predicting. Big titles are coming. Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV alone will be system-sellers.

All things considered, Destiny sold really well on Xbox platforms, when you consider that for most people, the game was seen as a de-facto PS exclusive.

Where's this MS PR from:

“We believe this will be one of our biggest holiday seasons ever. We’re offering great Xbox One bundles aligned with the most anticipated game launches of the year, including ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity,’ ‘Sunset Overdrive’ and ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,’ and incredible deals for fans. Combined with blockbusters like ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto 5,’ ‘Destiny’ and ‘Forza Horizon 2,’ we are committed to making Xbox One a great place to play this holiday.”

That's it? Is this supposed to be the NPD sales day PR?

Numbers tell me most people knew it was a multiplatform title but sure, create whatever narrative you want if it helps you sleep.

Pretty disappointing numbers for Sony tbh. With all the positive buzz around the console and hype surrounding Destiny I would guessed for about twice that. Xbox One really isn't that far behind considering the rough start they got. Pachter may not have been right but he was pretty close, and October NPDs should be interesting.
I got it because of the bolded. Ultimate self-aware call out. Believe it or not, X NPD's should be (very) interesting were in every NPD thread from November 2013 to March 2014.

NPD will be very interesting.
