If the PS4 is at 550k, although it's not confirmed, that puts the X1 at 520k, assuming Bruce isn't just being sarcastic.

Just a question do you ever feel the slightest bit of shame about being consistently wrong? Cause watching it from the sidelines is just painful.

ya but Ps4 theoretically has twice the install base of xbone to begin with, so you'd think more people with with black Ps4s would also have interest in Destiny given the exclusive DLC and more time with the beta and alpha
Yeah, twice! But not in the US. And we are talking about US (NA) sales here.

I would say that Sony charging for online play really harmed MS more than Sony. People are migrating to PS4 in droves, they are not willing to pay for two subscriptions. MS should remove the paywall from Xbl.

LOL! MS would sooner leave the gaming business entirely before giving up that XBLG money.

Sony isn't a magician that hypnotizes XBL holders in droves. The problem Microsoft is having is those subs are remaining on 360.

Thats generally true but its not this time I assure you. Just harkens back to some old NPD days when people would come in asking for numbers without checking the OP and running off thinking all kinds of cataclysms were befalling the industry.
People read.

Not you Bruce btw. :p

So for a different topic of discussion, do we have any info on Infinity 2.0?

Last year the title did somewhere in the realm of 200-270K from a quick look at old threads.

There seemed to be a lot of sentiment that it was going to drop a lot? And it's fallen a bit in chart position, but it's hard to draw info from that.

Also platform mix is sort of interesting. They dropped the Wii this year, so did that put a big dent in sales or have the new platforms made up for it?

The XBO falling behind the PS4 on the title is also somewhat interesting, as the former was performing better on family friendly titles last year from memory. Installed base disparity perhaps.

(It's a title that will probably have a slow burn though, so first month may not be as significant.)

Actually, the XBone is the largest console for Destiny =)

Microsoft Xbox One is the largest console for Destiny in month of September. And we can already tell you Xbox One will also be the biggest console for every mutli platform release throughout the Holiday season.

Now that would have been some good spin.

As great as this is for Sony, I wish they would come good on their promises, the OS is still the same as it was on launch, the media functions are near non existent, and the network is still unstable despite many many 'stability' updates.

I am one disappointed PlayStation fan

US only. There was only like a 700K gap between PS4 and Xbox One sales in the US before September. It's easy to think a lot of those people who owned a PS4 had no interest in Destiny.

I think it's A LOT more likely that PS4 Destiny people just bought digital. Because it had that exclusive to the BETA on PS4 first. Weren't the number of people playing that thing in the millions? They all got to play it because they bought in digitally, which isn't tabulated in NPD numbers.

The box copies are the late comers to Destiny and only accounts for retail copies.

All those sold were Destiny SKU's?

it means they won with approx 500k sold.

we all know what games came out in september.

yeah, such a coincidence that ps4 sold triple the month destiny came out. /s

besides, it was axtivision who placed destiny with ps4 and cod advanced with xbone.

the real kicker would be if xbone loses november.

Well Hyrule Warriors, unless heavily digital, suggests it can't be that far off the last one.

That said, these types of games overwhelmingly sell primarily in the holiday season as they're bought as Christmas gifts.

The last one ended up in #10 best selling for the year, no?

This is the key. I know a good amount of people that still only have 360s. Waiting til this holiday to upgrade to the XBone. The 360 was just so dominant for so long, people aren't moving from it quickly.

No the problem is that those subs are converting to PS4. They are bleeding subscribers. Where do you think thy massive % of PS4 owners that didn't own a PS3 that Yosp was talking about is coming from exactly? Most are likely 360 owners from last gen who have switched over to the console that will run their multiplat FPS and Sports games best.

Umm...So how would that go:

WE'RE NOT AS BAD AS WE THOUGHT WE WERE!!!!! GOOOO TEAM!!!!!!!!:)

over 500k this month, or "best month in 2014"

obviously that didn't happen though, so lol

I think we might have to wait for an Aquamarine megaleak for that just like last time :p

Agreed, but this is really only important to hardcore gamers. Most people buying a console during the holiday season will get the console that has the games they like (basically Halo/SSO vs LBP3/?, can't think of any other PS4 first party games).

I feel like this holiday season is where a large chunk of the 360 owners will upgrade to XBone's finally. May not be enough to get them ahead of PS4 for a month, but should get some better console numbers at least.

And man how many people are there out there than can own PS4's. Are people starting to buy a backup or something...

Wrong. Most people buying a console buy for third party titles, choose based on what their friends have, and are affected more by marketing impact than any other group.

XBO probably sold sub 310k units, otherwise MS pr could have mentioned it was their biggest month of the year. Gap between the two consoles seems pretty big for september.

Didn't Verendus state the PS4/XB1 gap is almost one million now? Figure out the gap through August 2014 and then we should have a XB1 estimate.
