Nintendo press release says 3DS software up 89% in Sept, with no mention that combined 3DS/DS software was down 18%. That's NOT a good trend

Nintendo 3DS Software Sales Increase Nintendo 3DS XL continued to impact the video game market in September as overall sales of Nintendo 3DS software increased by 89 percent from the same period a year ago. Standout titles include New Super Mario Bros. 2, which sold more than 295,000 units in its second month, as well as Mario Kart 7, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which all saw sales increases compared to last month.

“Nintendo 3DS XL continues to galvanize our Nintendo 3DS business,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Hardware sales are up, software sales are increasing exponentially and the attach rate is growing stronger every month. With a great slate of upcoming games, including Paper Mario: Sticker Star, which arrives exactly one month from today, we like our position heading into the crucial holiday selling season.”

In another milestone, Super Mario 64 DS for the Nintendo DS family of systems has now sold more than 5 million units in the United States alone. This is the third Nintendo DS game to reach the 5 million mark, joining New Super Mario Bros. (10.6 million) and Mario Kart DS (8.5 million).

Super Mario 64 DS has almost done as good as the original if I don't get wrong.

Darksiders 2 already out of the top 10 after selling just a quarter of a million units in its first month. The game is a complete flop, poor THQ.

U.S. retail video game sales declined 24 percent year-over-year in Sepetember 2012 from $1.11 billion to $848.3 million, according to NPD.

Video game hardware saw the biggest decline, over 39 percent from last September. 2K Games' popular coop shooter sold 1.48 million units for the month, though it wasn't enough to stop Madden, which had the benefit of a full month of sales tracking.

Xbox 360 was the highest-selling console for the month with 270,000 units sold. Sony and Nintendo did not release hardware sales numbers at this time.

After that massive ad campaign (seriously I saw that commercial about the same amount as I do Call of Duty commercials) I'm not surprised and kind of expected a little more. Still a massive opening and looks to be a continuing series.
Interesting that FIFA Vita sold better than the Wii (and 3DS) versions, but that Madden sold worse than the Wii version.

The listing order showing the sales was confirmed?
