Alright, a big apology to my fellow New Yorkers but we're finally going to do a meetup at The Gaf West Bar on Saturday, February 18th. There's more interest in going to the Gaf Bar on the west side. Repeat: We are going to the Gaf Bar on 48th Street, not the one of 1st ave. Let's show other gaffers that New York class. We're meeting up at 8pm for pregaming. When it gets lame we're going bar hopping around the area. Just in case, bring your metrocards. For the Gaf West Bar, you can take the A, C, E to either 42nd St - Port Authority or 50 St station. The 1 and 2 trains also stop at 50th st. Driving? Ha, good luck with parking. The Gaf Bar seems like your typical dive bar. It says they serve food but I'm suggesting everyone should eat before meeting.

OP will be updated with subway service changes when we get closer to the date.

Details:
The Gaf West Bar at 8pm
401 W 48th St
(between 10th Ave & 9th Ave)
New York, NY 10036
http://www.yelp.com/biz/gaf-west-new-york

If it gets too packed, we're hitting up Latitude Bar and Lounge. This is the back up bar.
Latitude Bar & Lounge
783 8th Ave
(between 47th St & 48th St)
New York, NY 10036
(212) 245-3034
www.latitudebarnyc.com

If you're going by subway, you can take the A,C,E or 1,2 trains to the 50 st station or the A, C, E to 42nd street, Port Authority Bus Terminal. If you're driving, luls.

Here are some places around the area for food:
Luke's Lobster Food Truck
Guelaguetza
Sophie's Cuban Cuisine
Totto Ramen

There's going to be a SECOND meetup on Monday, February 13th at 9pm. The place will be at Third & Long, a sports bar. Come join us for $2 domestic beers. Unfortunately they do not do dollar beers on Mondays anymore. If you're not a beer drinker, they also do buy one get one free on any wine. Fuck your Valentines day plans, you don't have a date anyways. GAF will be your Valentines this year. Enough drinks in us and we'll put out. This place does not serve food so eat beforehand!

Details:
523 3rd Ave
(between 34th St & 35th St)
New York, NY 10016
http://www.yelp.com/biz/third-and-long-new-york

Directions:
You can get to that place by 4 5 6 and 7 train. If you come from the west side, ride it to time square station and take the shuttle to Grand Central.

*Big props for KCcitystar for the swag header.
*Bigger props to Bob Page for bringing the idea of a meetup to light. We were due for another one.

One thing you folks have over the good folks in LA is that none of you fuckers have to worry about driving.
Unless you live upstate like me and have to drive to the train station. Grumble.

I'd like to make an appearance. I may or may not be moving back to Columbus next month (I have a phone interview on Thursday), so this might be the first and last time I'd be able to meet NYC-GAF.

You're entirely too generous, Jason. I'll be buying you a SPECIAL drink when I meet you in person. Look forward to it.

Have you guys known in each other in real life for a while or something? I'd go but wouldn't want to intrude if it's like a personal party with friends or whatever.

As far as the main meet up I'll definitely try to go if I don't get last minute jitters. I missed the last meet up and felt bad about it, I want to meet people from here though. What's the average age of people who go to these meet ups?

We're going to the East Side one? Sheiiiiiit, I thought it was the West one. I think East isn't as accessible by subway but it's up to you guys.

Have fun on the 13th though- Can't make it since my gf is visiting for Valentine's.
You can take the 1/C/B to 86th street on the west side and catch the M86 bus to go across town ;)

Some of us from NYC-GAF have gotten to know each other through the RealPic community as well as through TinyChat/IRC. It won't be as awkward when we meet in person as we already have a general idea of what we all look like/how we sound/how we behave.

Definitely come. I know jason from the last meetup and everyone who came was really cool (20s-30s).

Nope! It's just a smaller Gaf meetup. I dont want to stress it because it's going to be on a weekday. Do come out.

Also, Bob I thought we decided on the East side Gaf on the previous failed meetup? It's the original one.

Hmm, sounds interesting. But I doubt I'd be able to stay for very long.

Then there's that whole potential "meeting strangers you barely know online in person" awkwardness.

Sorry for the double post. I'm doing this on my phone.

Getting into the pregame bar should be no issue. Most bars don't bouncer up until 11pm.

It's about damn time! Dude, count me in for both meet ups for sure. I've been saying I was gonna go to both for the longest.

Apparently, it turns there's no class next Monday (I think it's Lincoln's Birthday), so I'm going for sure. Again, if you need help with anything, send me a PM.

EDIT:

Dude, we post in the most video game forum ever. There's nothing awkward about that because I've met several GAFers myself in the past. In fact, that's what we have in common, so don't worry.
