That's being President I guess, but that's not really sustainable. He's going go to back to normal hours once he's done.

He sustained it for 8 years. I've always been interested in the work habits of the greats, and many of the great ones survived on very little sleep. This isn't surprising, but I wish I had the ability to function at full capacity on this little sleep for sustained periods of time.

Four to five hours of sleep a night.

Obama gets it. Any more is just indulging.

For some reason I assumed that every president was similar and was lucky to get even that much consistently.

I imagine every two term president leaving office just sleeps for a week.

Obama is seriously the best, no-bullshitting-around president that we've had in a long time. Too bad he had to put up with the zealot fuckheads on the other side of the isle. If he had more cooperation (i.e., more rational, less bigoted counterparts), I have no doubt he would have gotten even more amazing stuff done on behalf of the vast majority of citizens.

It's a real shame we only had about a 2 year period where the legislature was willing to do things to improve the country under Obama's watch. The other 6 years have been Republicans stalling in order to prevent Obama and the democratic party from gaining further mindshare.

Has there ever been an Obama story in the Times that hasn't quoted David Axelrod, David Plouffe, or Jon Favreau? It's funny how they've basically become the Obama whisperers.

Thread title makes it sound like a porno.
The description sounds like he's watching a porno.

Mr. Obama calls himself a “night guy,” and as president, he has come to consider the long, solitary hours after dark as essential as his time in the Oval Office. Almost every night that he is in the White House, Mr. Obama has dinner at 6:30 with his wife and daughters and then withdraws to the Treaty Room, his private office down the hall from his bedroom on the second floor of the White House residence.

There, his closest aides say, he spends four or five hours largely by himself.

The White House seems like a creepy place to be in when you're the only one up, but I bet Obama climbs up to the roof to chat with the sniper perched up there.

Interesting, I didn't realize the president had that kind of space in his schedule. I have the same affinity for solitary night hours. It seems like the best time of day to think, recharge, and get things done.
