Ubi got rid of Desmond, decimated the modern plot, historical references, the whole Church and Pope conspiracy to keep hidden artifact from the first civilization, others subject of testing in the animus like Subject 1 and 16, Abstergo, errors in the Animus, etc..... now it's all Medusas, Gods, and if a setting is popular we bring it to Assassins Creed...like

Viking Series is popular, we bring a Nordic Assassins
Medieval Series are popular, wich Movie with those setting was popular?, we bring it like Troy and 300, lets Make Odyssey
Pirate series and movies are popular?, let's bring them Black Flag

To me, it's no different than Call of Duty or Fifa.
Same tested formula.
Ubi said they are gonna let rest Assassins Creed with those annual releases, but in fact it's a lie because those formulas are every year in other games that Ubi release, for example, Watch Dogs.

OP, how is Odyssey " filled with obnoxious SJW bullshit in your face all the time" because it allows you to play as a gay or bisexual dude? You homophobic bruh?

You realize it also lets you play as a manly-man who gets down with hot Greek ladies left and right, right? You can basically be James Bond of the Aegean Sea, doesn't feel very SJW to me.

You also realize that this game was written by many people with a large variety of beliefs and personal preferences, right? To post a picture of one of the staff members on this game to cast judgement on them as a person and their work, well that's a pretty scummy thing to do, even if you backpedaled it. It's only fair you post a picture of yourself now so we can all see the face behind this thoughtful critique. :)

OP seems like the kind of person I'd want to stay far away from at a party if he somehow managed to get invited to one.

This is the worst shit really.
I don’t understand why it was even necessary to write anything, people wouldn’t have noticed.
But what was the point of creating a historically inaccurate item?

I thought the game was only ok and I didn't even finish it, but if it was far from the worst game I've played. Doubt it was the worst game I played the year it came out. Anyone who think it's the worst game ever must be very young and/or only buys a few games a year (basically limited gaming experience).

Huh? What Watchdogs released in 2019, last year?

Ubi said they are gonna let rest Assassins Creed with those annual releases, but in fact it's a lie

? What main AC came out in 2019 though? So I think they mean they are limiting those releases, as its clear its not a every year release because they likely have one of their teams now working on a different IP instead of 3 teams making AC at the same time like they normally do. Either way, you didn't get one last year, same with Watchdogs and I doubt you'll see a AC next year or watchdogs next year etc.

Its hard to argue something is annual when you didn't get either of those IP last year man..

I liked Origins, but hate this. Map is always the same, it's pointlessly big, and the grinding is tiresome and mandatory. Good way to feel you're playing a single player mmo.
Yeah, Origins was awesome and better in every sense, though I'm sure if there was no Origins before it, while still having problems with the things I argued about, I would enjoy Odyssey more. At least Valhalla will have lots of new assets, Odyssey sometimes looks like a (really) large expansion to Origins environment-wise.

The point is virtue signaling. Yes it's a bad practice that has been plaguing modern western media as of late unfortunately.

I preferred Origins.

Odyssey played well enough but despite the potentially great setting, they never quite nailed it like they did Egypt in Origins. It was okay...

I liked AC:O but I just got bored half way through, the landscape is incredible though and there's a ton to do, but it just felt too repetitive.

Can't say it was a fantastic game, it's an above average RPG-lite. I personally enjoyed the hell out of the gameplay.

The only thing Origins did better was the setting and story, really. Gamepaly really improved in Odyssey.

I didn't like Origins very much and I forced myself to finish that game and you are telling me that this one is even worse?

I'm finishing it off now before Valhalla and it's a strange one - I think I'm enjoying it but couldn't tell you why. Definitely mediocre and very easy to criticise but laughable to say it's one of the worst games ever though.

It has a huge world with 100s of quests yet somehow feels devoid of stuff to do. Much of the side content is really forgettable and I really hope they have focused on quality over quantity for Valhalla.

The RPG elements trivialised things to an extent as I'm at the stage I can just run around one hit killing mercenaries and sometimes bosses. If you don't cheese your build you can just as likely end up in 5 minute fights with mercs that are equally awful.

The combat animations are so strange with so few frames for both player and enemies that dodging sometimes looks like something out of Dragonball Z - I'd definitely prefer slower and more deliberate.

It's one of the best Assassin's Creed games I have ever played. My personal favourite. Once you go back to old AC games you really start to appreciate the new gameplay design. Can't wait for Valhalla. It's gonna be a blast.

And for fucks sake, can you stop with the "real" AC game? What do you people expect? The same shallow and boring as f gameplay from first games? Give me a break, you would be first to point out how the AC formula needs something new if Ubi made your "real" AC games.

That is only partially true, virtue signaling is (and always has been, it only now starts getting called out) a core piece of western white identity in every direction of the universal leftist approach this (cultural) part of the world is taking. It´s annoying yes, but easy to avoid and possible to make decisions which do not benefit those who use it.

edit: it is of course especially visible in all kinds of "cultural" things, be it music, games, literature, etc. all of which can be enjoable but ultimately obsolete, especially when people make their money with it, then it will be full of it, because since it is a core element of identity it also benefits making profits. But this is getting too ot if it isnt already.

I mean even tough it’s just a vase but just imagine some uptight rainbow haired skank looking at these 2000 year old vases and having a hissy fit because it has too many men

Not just a hissy fit, but she thinks she knows better than the Ancient Greeks, a culture from which we received philosophy, music, democracy, geometry, theater, poetry, historical study, medicine, and the plastic arts.

Looks are important. If a person looks that retarded, you just don't hire it (them, they, whatever the fuck pronoun these wackos use).

Feminists are retarded.

Also, all the ones calling out the posters who are talking about her looks must be fucking Adonises who look like Henry Cavill or some shit. lol :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm only speaking for myself, but I still enjoyed the formula before Origins. Unity and Syndicate are among my favorites of the franchise, along with AC1, AC2, AC 3 and Origins. So I would have no problems going back to that formula. Though I'm also ok with the current one, just let me play as an Assassin if I want, don't force me to neverending combats always.

I personally was never into the AC games as I just couldn't get into them for the most part.

Opinions are wild though, someone will say this is the absolute worse, and another will say it's the absolute best, that's just the way things go. But, from a gameplay perspective, I always heard it was really good. A lot of people flocked to Black Flag, Origins, and Odyssey.

Yeah, that picture is pretty dumb, and I'm sure it has some other other minor dumb things. But I personally wouldn't say the game is awful as a result. I personally wouldn't fuss about it. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, one thing is clear from this thread, it's a very polarizing game. What I'm glad about is that I'm not the only one who has these opinions about it. I was under the impression that it's one of the most popular instalments of the franchise and that was one of the reasons for me making this thread. I wanted to know if it was me or this game really has some issues that weren't talked about generally.

I played it at my pace, only doing activities that were fun to me (taking down forts wasn’t as much since i couldn’t go assassin style without speccing specifically for it to an extent, sadly).

i think the devs tried to have this game have varying degrees on involvement/investment. A heaven for completionists, yet you can pretty much go straight theu the story missions and that’s it. Really no need to grind unless you want to.

I truly wish they hadn’t gone the bullshit “let’s fix the past and teach bullshit” bullshit like in Origins, especially when you’re touting to be as authentic as you can be.

I actually enjoyed Odyssey a great deal. I didn't pay much attention to the writing, but it had a great sailing mechanic, and there were the animal legends. Basically you were doing the labors of Hercules and that was fun. I really enjoyed going to Elysium and the game there. I found that part fun. Finally Atlantis was cool too.

Yeah, no kidding. Honestly, I was surprised by that and wasn't expecting it. But again, I don't know much about the series at all as I never really bothered. Totally understandable. Feels nice knowing you're not the only one feeling that way, haha.

I love the history revisionism narrative that unity was the last GREAT ac game...

Maybe graphically or if people mean last classic AC (not true, that one is syndacate) because the game itself...i mean...lol.

Even with all his limits, origins piss in the head of unity every day of the week.

That parkour is still sublime, and parkour is arguably one of the core pillars of the franchise. I also liked the combat more there, though mostly for the nice animations (when it wasn't janky).

They did show those other areas of the world having assassins in 1 or 2 if you used eagle vision as desmond in the lab area.

It was the one with the dedicated button for high parkour and one dedicated button for down parkour (sorry for the english)?!

The combat was the same mediocre stuff they had since 1-2 with minor changes but yeah nice animations for the finishers i guess, at least they werent clunky like they are now.

I didn't lasted more that 7-8 hours before bailing out.

Yes. Though Syndicate also had the same parkour mechanics, but it was a bit downgraded compared to Unity. Was still good though.

And you are right, the combat mechanics were the same, but I liked that type of combat since the first game. If you are looking for deep combat mechanics that was not for you, for sure, but I liked it visually. At least Valhalla's combat looks better than Odyssey's so far.

So basically it stayed that way from unity up until now, the only thing that changed was the setting with its premise (some settings just have more and some have less possibilitites for parcour) and some animations. :D

Once I accepted the fact that I wouldn't see/do everything before I burnt out, I really enjoyed it.

Spent ~40 hours sailing, exploring, questing. I enjoyed my time. Didn't have any major bugs. Fighting system was a bit weird at first but I got used to it. Graphically I thought it looked incredible. Sometimes I'd have an edible and just sail around listening to music. Good shit.

So yeah, I voted good game. I'm fine with it being an AC game because to be honest I've never really felt like AC games have a strict foundation.

I'll be honest though that pot from Origins or that narrative director's appearance didn't factor into my scoring.

It really has some beatiful scenery, no argument there. I also enjoy those moments but they are a bit rare, all the time someone or something wants to kill me.

I made a thread asking the question of how the the current AssCreed games compare to Ghost of Tsushima.

Someone posted this clip there.

Odyssey must truly be laughable if it has that poor excuse of a combat system. Jesus Christ that brute is tanking more hits than the Hulk.

Nothing to do with the combat system, more to do with the dog shit player that plays the game.

level 5 vs level 5 mercenary hardest mode. I could probably overkill him 3 times over on a crit.

U can start 1 hit killing every single char after u get your first bow even on the hardest difficulty and stack assassin dmg on your gear and get the assassin talents.

The reason that guy is complete and utter dog shit is because he's probably fighting a skull mercenary that is not remotely even supposed to be killed early on or is straight up trolling with shit low level gear not using any of his ability's as he is already sitting endlessly on mixed adrenaline with that many hits to push a agenda. Because why hide all the information on the screen? there you go.

U can even 1 shot mythical beasts which are pretty much raid bosses if you want.

Anybody that says u can't 1 shot enemy's in odyssey are simple trolling. Yes odyssey is more complex then origin on this matter. But then origin is absolutely a full blown joke on difficulty. U can get at the start sleeping darts and basically u won the game already. Absolutely boring gameplay style. Odyssey makes so much builds possible its the most fun assassin creed i ever played combat wise . Witcher 3 is completely and utter dog shit in comparison towards it. No clue why anybody would compare it.

I have yet to encounter a open world game like odyssey that does combat so well, and if valhalla is expanding on this i can't wait to play it simple for the combat.
