Tell me Yoshi, is it your hobby to play teacher on all of us here and lecturing us on how phrasings should be? You are the only guy asking questions when everyone else got what i meant.
There is no teaching involved, I failed to get what you wanted to convey. Only after your explanation did I think that the idiom was used incorrectly.

I am not writing my posts to be Yoshi proof as they aren't written for you personally.
Feel free to continue using idioms in inadequate ways, but chances are that Yoshi will not be the only one who will then misunderstand (or not understand) what you want to convey. Though my lack of understanding of your initial post likely emenated from the fact that you did not use the idiom correctly, I was merely asking because I did not understand it and tried to match it to the situation to no avail. That I told you afterwards, why the usage was wrong was just something I did because I know that it is sometimes difficult to use idioms from other languages correctly and would have been glad to be explained the error if I was in your situation. But if you prefer to remain unaware of this, I have no issue with not pointing out such a misunderstanding to you again. This will only prevent the last post on the matter though, because the original post still was unintelligible to me.

You need to find a different hobby other than lecturing people on their usage of words or asking questions regarding obvious bans, Yoshi.

Play some Nintendo games, act non-German for a day. Do anything other than the aforementioned two things. You aren't clever, nobody likes a teacher and nobody certainly does not like a nitpicker where the only person interested is the guy addressing the point in the first place.

To get back on the topic:
ERA staff is clear regarding trans issues that they ''have no interest in allowing ignorance to thrive in these threads, nor do we wish to place an undue burden on our transgender community to educate people in threads like these. This policy will be enforced from this post onward and in any future threads or posts on this subject.'' . Why educate people right? This policy alone makes the agressive nature of The Names clear: They aren't there to actually advance the discussion, they just want people to ban since those folks are uneducated anyways.

So when you say: ''Why are people getting banned for "transphobia" here??? What is transphobic about stating there are clear body differences between men and women? One of my friends is trans female to male and we've had this same discussion before. He agrees there are clear advantages.... Does that make me transphobic because I agree with him?''

Then you obviously get banned. Because you don't understand.

RESETERA: HOME OF SJW AND TRANSGENDER SAFE SPACES.

How cheritable of you to give me such helpful advice on how to become more popular. However, I feel that @DeepEnigma would be the better tutor here. Always learn from the best!

It is charitbale that you proofread my postings, but in the best interests of other posters, I would recommend, as long as the errors are just orthographic mistakes that are unlikely to provoke a misunderstanding, to send the corrections via PM (and to be clear: I would be happy to receive the PMs for errors such as the quoted one; if merely a space is misplaced or another kind of typo occurs, then it would be less helpful of course).

Actually, Redz use of the idiom doesn't make any sense.
I can see why Yoshi had to inquire about it, and then question its use.
You are an idiom.

I don't think you need any advice on popularity.

Fuck idioms. I knew exactly what he meant and so should any non-brainwashed, non-idiot.

You see what you want to see and you get confused by what you wanna get confused by. NPC 101.

Nah, i don't agree with that, Scopa.

His idiom made no fuckin sense and i have no idea what the fuck he meant by it. Or what his earlier response to my post means.

And i am far from a brainwashed idiot.

Probably a P.E. or politics teacher, considering your potty mouth at display here!
IT for 2 years grades 1 -> 11 then primary grade 4 teacher for a year with occasional stints covering kindergarten classes (never ever do it - it's a living hell - how the fucking hell does anyone keep a class full of tiny little sods under control? They destroyed me.)

I know why I am sticking to university level ^^.
Did a bit of college lecturing back in the day and that was a good laugh, despite my being woefully underqualified at the time. University would probably be fun but tbh in IT I'd never match my current salary and I have a mortgage to pay. Maybe later in life I can semi-retire into academia...

Btw on a related note to the bolded bit.. it's very very hard not to swear when you're under a desk fixing a computer in a class full of 5 year olds and the bloody computer gives you a massive electric shock. Thai electrical safety is not good.

He was banned though in January. And there definitely has been some signficiant purge of left leaning posters around that time. Either way, I do not think that KingOfAfrica got a regular ban there. Considering no post is remotely offensive and he also has no post with a banned banner, I assume he is banned for requesting a ban.

EDIT: I have missed some crucial posts.
Interesting considering I am a left leaning poster and I haven't been banned or actioned by any mods. It is almost as if the people who are done so are repeatedly breaking rules, which AfricanKing, BraveOne, PheonixRising, Luigimario, and more are more than familiar with.

Your conspiracy theory is wholly unfounded. The moderation warned and removed people who actively did not want to have discussions and instead continuously push hot takes, drive bys, insults, and more. This isn't ResetEra where mods have a clear political bias.

I think it is also fair to note that there are potentially more (shall I postulate, a plethora?) "left-leaning" members on this site who may not be as vocal or hard-pressed about issues as their "right-wing" counterparts.

EDIT: Blegh, I hate how this sounds. I just think more of the outspoken member base tends to be "more right-leaning."

Are you left leaning on social justice issues? I cannot recall any posts that indicate this.

What specific "right" issues do you think are louder or more outspoken? I take no offense, as I'm a conservative person myself in most respects, but GAF seems far more middle/slightly Left leaning to me.

There's also the human tendency to focus on points that are starkly contrasted against your own rather than noticing (and keeping a mental tally) of all the points that agreed with your own.

That's a fair question, completely brought upon by my very loose statement. Honestly it's just my take on things, I'm not even sure what constitutes the right or left as much as an average PoliGAFfer since I tend to stray away from such conversation... but for the sake of the question, I guess it's less about "specific issues" but rather being open about what side one is on when in the middle of a discussion. I think (thought?) I usually see more of the "right" come out and say it than the "left."

I clearly don't really know what I'm saying though because I assumed you were aligned with the democrats up until now.

In any case, that phenomenon you mention tends to be at play in enough cases.

They did a study where a person actually sees an incoming baseball as larger if they are asked to hit it with a bat (as opposed to simply judging its size as it flies by). Our brains tend to magnify anything that is different, dangerous, or peculiar to our paradigm.

I don't mean that as a slam against you, I'm just trying to explain why you might perceive it that way.

That's quite interesting. Perhaps I should consider this idea when parsing that part of the forum from now on.

And no worries, my spirit remains at peace. I just find it bothersome that I'm near clueless when it comes to political matters, hence the bit of stammer.

The important thing is that we arguably have a healthy political medium here on GAF for discussion, with representation of many views allowing for fresh takes and perspectives. Clearly, it does us well versus the other place.

I think the poll results from the wall vs no wall thread show just how evenly split the forum is in terms of politics.

Yes, just not far-left like you. I also primarily use NeoGaf as a GAMING forum. So why would I need to bring up "left leaning issues"? Though given who and what you tend to defend, I am probably not "left-leaning" enough for you so therefore you consider me "right-leaning".

Kinda out there but I was watching this video about the Mind Body connection and there is this snippet about the addiction to the stress and the way he described it sounded a lot like the people who partake in Outrage Culture.

25:40 is where he starts. It’s a short part where he mentions the brain gets addicted to the stress.

Sorry, but have a look at the headlining on the politics subforum. The hate for "mainstream media", "regressive liberals" and "transgender activists" is pretty prominent there. At least judging by the active discussions and active posters in the politics section, it is far from middle/slightly left.

Though I do classify myself as far-left leaning, because I am on fiscal, ecological and social security issues, in terms of social justice issues, I do not think I am far left-leaning. At least by the discussion standards in US centric forums:
- I do not think misgendering should be illegal (but I think it is rude)
- I do not think trans women should be allowed in female sports competitions; it is a differentiation by sex, not by hormone level
- I am not in favour of affirmative action outside of very minor things (preferantial treatment if same formal qualification is reached, foregoing some softer criteria that are much harder to match for disabled people)
- I am not a fan of social media hate campaigns or throwing out people over allegations that reach back 30 or more years (outside of rape and murder and in these cases, it should be a matter of the courts, not the twitter brigade)
- I am very much for separation of artist and art. If a douchebag made a good game / movie / book, then it is a good game / movie / book. Why is it important what the person thinks, personally, as long as he does not try to indoctrinate me?
- I am against genderisation of language. Instead, a more precise understanding of language should be promoted that helps removing over interpretations (e.g. in German there is such a thing as a generic masculine. Words such as "Student" - with the obvious meaning - are male, grammatically. It should be promoted to understand that in almost all contexts, "Student" does not mean "male student", but "student [of any gender]".

That hardly qualifies as far left by the standards of current political discourse. I am opposed to racism, sexism and the various phobiae, yes, but in most cases I am not in favour of legal action against such behaviour.

None of those three points are right-exclusive points, though, and they damage the Left as much as they affect the Right.

You literally had a thread about Bernie within the last 48 hours and I didn't see any Right-wing dogpiling or any of the issues you are describing.
