omg

Its time for kotaku, the verge, polygon and eurogamer being responsible for their actions. They keep listening those whining bullshit on resetera and decide to make an article about, without care about consequences.
One of those dev team (10 members). He really need the money to pay his disability bills...

I agree with her:

I remember that Green Skeleton troll since I first heard about Ion Maiden. I actually think he was posting that Steam review he made on /v/ every time an Ion Maiden thread came up. What kind of severe autism do you have to have to keep trolling the same devs for 2-3 years straight just because you wanted to see more boobs?

Sounds very based and redpilled to me.

Never heard of this guy before, not Googled him. But my god Ree are a nasty bunch of cunts cheering his death.

As my mum said "If you've got nothing nice to say, better to say nothing at all".

Edit: where's the mods locking the topic becuse of no productive discussion or however they phrase that when its a topic that makes Ree look bad?

KHarvey16
It means no one should take her claims as the truth.
Falchion
Wait what? She needs to back up that accusation with some more examples if she wants anyone to take it seriously.
Steeped in a Sea of Games
Literally the last person to listen to about anything stan lee related.
Dragon1893
Holy crap, I had no idea his daughter was such a piece of shit. Poor Stan.
Coyote Starrk
Exactly. Her opinion means exactly squat in my book.

Is there any chance this is an idiotic Sony PR Move to try and take some of the (undeserved) heat off?

Or is she that much of an asshole for free?

Nothing to do with what he posted.

This sounds exactly what people, so convinced of their own righteousness that they they think anyone who has a differing opinion is trolling, would come up with.

Sealioning
A subtle form of trolling involving "bad-faith" questions. You disingenuously frame your conversation as a sincere request to be enlightened, placing the burden of educating you entirely on the other party. If your bait is successful, the other party may engage, painstakingly laying out their logic and evidence in the false hope of helping someone learn. In fact you are attempting to harass or waste the time of the other party, and have no intention of truly entertaining their point of view. Instead, you react to each piece of information by misinterpreting it or requesting further clarification, ad nauseum. The name "sea-lioning" comes from a Wondermark comic strip.

Well, here's a conundrum for Era, Trump supporter that's secretly trans. Surprisingly not many posts as they haven't worked out a narrative where they can be pro trans and hate Trup supporters. They are getting there though, "must be self hating" becuse all trans people hate Trump.

If it's a troll. Well done!

What's funny is we used to call that a 'distraction' back in the day. You'd get some overly argumentative asshole who's juggling multiple threads all at once, rapid-fire replying with giant walls of text. So you'd make a thread that asks that specific users a highly specific question that they can't just off the cuff reply to. This keeps them busy in one thread while everyone else moves the other discussions along so mr. know-it-all is forced to drop them.

The sealioning thing is weird. It's not to be used for someone asking you to back up your claims in the thread it was raised (however many times). The context of the strip is that every panel is a different scenario. If you want to use it metaphorically then it would refer to someone hounding you across different threads for an answer to the first argument or 'cross thread drama'.

They use it as yet another way to avoid actually answering legitimate questions, or when asked to back up ridiculous inflated claims.

e.g.

A: Public figure is a piece of trash
B: Well actually they bought vaccines for 15 local schools and opened a homeless shelter. Just because they lobbied once for Monsanto doesn't make them a piece of shit, unless you have other examples.
A: gtfo
B: Well, thats a compelling argument. Do you have any other examples?
A: The guy was a piece of shit and if you support people like him that makes you trash
B: How?
B: User banned (duration pending): sealioning

This is the perfect example of the dumbfucks that get to mod Era.

I'm confident I was 12 years before him and even then I knew at that age that if you wanted to get information printed on paper like a map for instance you'd go to a bookstore, convenience store or for a map obviously a gas station. Pretty telling here that tubby's first example is where the fuck can I get burgers? and not, where's the nearest sports center? Libarys didnt exists where this dumbfuck lived? "Well, I guess I've no choice but to stay ignorant until the internet is invented and it just tells me the answers". I'll bet he couldnt wipe his own ass without a walk through guide.

If we wanted to know where the nearest whatever was before the internet we would just ask someone. But that involved having a real conversation. Maybe that’s why he was always clueless.

There were also those massive phone books they dropped off at each house every 6 months.

People just love to have some kind of legit sounding buzzword that allows them to dismiss criticism or uncomfortable questions.

"Wouldn't it be great if there was some kind of word I could invoke when someone calls me out on the nonsense I say online?"
"How about Sealioning? It has a little comic strip and everything!"

At a place like Era they absolutely NEED these kind of tools because otherwise they are forced to take responsibility for their bullshit.

It amazing how many of these fucking dishonest tactics come with some "witty" comic strip that somehow bolsters their effectiveness.

When the waiter comes running over as you attempt to leave the restaurant, thinking that you are about to dine and dash, you say "woah, buddy, are you trying to shitrush me?"
The waiter goes, Shitrush? What?
You know, how a meal hasn't really been completed until I've shat out the waste remnants but the waiter is all like "but you have to pay now"? That's shitrushing. Don't fucking shitrush me!
*Proceeds to hand waiter a crappy comic that "hilariously" shows how food is not fully digested until the intestines have stopped drawing nutrients and so payment is not due until the customer is doing a shit*

Makes sense over there though that people who seem to be on a diet of crayola and play-doh get their all debating tactics from quirky comic strips.

Hahaha.

Want to know the lyrics to a song? Listen to it a few times then ask your friends.
I love how it's all or nothing with them.
Like you can either get what you want RIGHT NOW or NEVER and there is no in between.

If you are going to the same school everyday then you will know what exists in the surrounding area just by, you know, socializing. Oh wow, so and so went to BK for lunch? Where is the BK? Thanks for the directions.

Seeing shit like this makes me wonder if the internet hasn't just completely fucked over the younger generation. Jesus fuck. :)

Yep. Another good example I can name is Dan Olsen with his so-called "Thermian Argument". While he embellish his concept with fancy words (take a shot every time he says "diagetic" or "diagesis"), he's basically only saying "I don't like the way this story has *insert controversial element*. The author should change it to better fit my sensibilities".

These people always used the same recycled, rehashed arguments. As someone who is neither left or right, I have to say that of the two, left, specifically far left people are far and away the worst at debating. They specifically come up with these buzzwords and catch phrases to avoid arguing, because they know they'll get wrecked in any serious debate. It's why you always see right wing people go on left wing shows, and not the other way around.

They hate arguing outside of their home turf, because they need pandering and crowd backing to win arguments by shouting those down who can out-think them. They always resort to strawman arguments and generalizations

"So, you're saying that.....[something you didn't come close to saying]"
"You're one of those people who thinks...."
"You're privileged, you don't have a say in this"
"Oh, it's easy for you to say that being that you're _____"

They try to win debates by shutting people down because they are really fucking stupid most of the time. Like not just common sense stupid, but lack a fundamental understanding of so many basic things. They live in idealism, not realism.

This doesn't surprise me, Era is pretty much the only place that's still actively talking about it and has disclaimers in related thread.
And do you think the problem lies with everyone else or with Era? 🤔 🤔 🤔
