*Karen mode engaged* I don't do Twitter and in all likleyhood they will ignore this email. For those that do tweet. Then you should tweet that post he made (That includes you offsite non GAF bros). You can try emailing as well as a backup. But we all know companies respond to Twitter more that anything. Go for it, get creative.

I don’t mind pointing out things over there that are funny. I really don’t want to get into contacting people’s employers over it though. I always think that’s a really shitty thing to do.

I’m not a fan of Jason myself so I think the best thing I can do is ignore his articles and move on with life.

Shit, did you guys hear we're almost 8Chan and that we're Hitler's Germany? Apparently I didn't get the memo.

You got a link for that?

Funny thing is that when I visit this place I feel freedom but on era it’s like living under a dictatorship.

When I read era I fart all time. Its like my brain is wanting to delete the nonsense so hard that even my bowels respond to that.

My official ban reason:

You have been banned for the following reason: Downplaying hate and intolerance, history of infractions. Ban changed to permanent after review..

Basically was ripping on last Jedi and of course they assumed it was because I must be bigoted in some way even though I never mentioned anything of the sort.

Past infractions would have been mocking the people who cut off their family members etc due to the 2016 election fallout.

Honestly didn’t do anything bad they just didn’t like my tone.

It's on a different forum, they're Reee--ing for what I did, and because 1 mod quit, the other mod decided to abuse their power to ban me. I got it challenged, I got unbanned, that mod who abused their power got his mod status revoked. Blames me and the other mod that caught him. Now all of the other Era posters are calling me out and saying how we are worst like 8chan

They have some really unbelievably tryhard TLJ fanboys there. At first, when they were getting drowned by criticism, disney's white knights started to openly entertain the idea of banning users with "problematic" anti-TLJ posts, but were simply pointed at and laughed. Somehow things evolved to the current situation, where thinking that the movie is not good is as if were fully admitting yourself to be a hateful alt-right bigot.

It just shows how some prominient members can and will contaminate the site's moderation philosophy sooner or later. What was once a highly debated topic 1 or 2 years ago is now heavily biased towards one side. What's the correct opinion has since then been decided, and the fanboys have become "too tired" to keep arguing the same points over and over with older posters that "refuse to learn" or newer posters who are "too ignorant" to know that those discussions have already been had and that the correct opinion has already been determined as the only one that is acceptable. So it's just so much easier to ban.

I'm always blaffled when I read ERA members are defined as leftist, or progressive, or woke or other. This would mean these people have a political stance. For me, their vision is so simplified they can be defined just as stupid.

They desperately want to be on the good side of everything, but they don't undestand complex discussions are made of multiple shades of gray, 'cause they only understand binary opinions: if you don't agree with me, you are against me. Since they aren't smart enough to understand complex reasoning, they will never find a solution for the problems they face, so they're always expecting some other to fix issues for them. Feminism? Men, do this! Racism? White guys, do that! Sexism? Devs, don't draw like this!
The only man who never makes mistakes is the man who never does anything. Resetera in a nutshell. They can't be bad cause they do nothing and cannot be wrong. The times they expose themself with some flicker of an idea turned out to be shit, they feel very uncomfortable to fail under the rigid judgement of their similars.

To be better, or rather, to feel themselves better, they need to find someone who they think is worse than them, an enemy. But since they are stupid, they need a simple, very identifiable enemy.
First, what is bad? NAZI! But not the real National Socialism, because it is clear they never open a history book. NAZI seen as the bad guy in the cartoons, a bidimensional evil character!
Check!
Probably many of them have a right-wind ideologies and they don't even know, but Alt-Right word sounds really bad. Check!
What else? Feminism is good, so since everything is black or white, White Men has to be bad... but only because someone said that. Check!
What is white man and alt right an anti-feminism? Trump! Check!
And so on.

And they also want to be smart. Or, as someone said, they need to SOUND smart using words they ripping off somewhere and they don't fully understand, using tons of meaningless hyperboles, as the infamous inflammatory false equivalence: they don't clearly know what a false equivalence is, with inflammatory adding that spicy flavour to a nonsense sentence.

They live in a bubble without any sort of discussion, because discussion means to be able to handle a conversation and they aren't use to. They enjoy give a pat on the back each other: You are good! No, you are good too! Hey, how can I be good as you? But at some point, REALITY break into their bubble. It's the time they learn, sometimes with violence, in the real world, word have conseguence, and it's the moment they feel very ashamed. See the PedoEra and the Etika and Holowka controversies.

Yeah they have simplistic mentalities, that's where the NPC meme comes from and, frankly, it is pretty accurate. Their religious moralism doesn't accept debate or questioning because they don't have real arguments, they have a manual about what's good and what's bad and how to react to challenges by a script. I used to think this type of simplistic worldview was exclusive to the right but I was mistaken, this is where the "useful idiot" term comes from and it originated on the left. The reality is that humans tend to choose the path of least resistance, most just choose their own type of religious recipes and refuse to question them because it is cognitively less demanding and tiresome but in the end we are all susceptible to it, left, right, middle, whatever. Resetera is just a textbook example of this coming from the "left".

Not even that. They hate their own community. They hate the "gamers" that "dismiss their concerns" in their own forum. They hate however disagrees with them, and they spend their time on discord channels talking about era members they hate and hope to see banned. Everytime there's some sort of meta comentary on how they view themselves as a community, it's always negative.

They don't pat on the back of each other. They group up to share their hatred towards something else, and that's as close as they get to each other. Their forum's buddies (which they call "allies") are merely weaponized and disposable tools to make their shared hatred louder. Ultimately, they are alone, together.

It's sad and miserable.

was laughing at this this morning. this is a man who wants to play as a girl but is intimidated by the question. he feels the question is aimed at him, the player, and the game is talking directly to him, rather than the game avatar. he is afraid that the character is judging him for picking the gender he wants to use, rather than what he actually identifies as. i guess he thinks the character is literally talking to him, which is mentally on the level of some 4 year olds.

when you are so soy that a pixellated character asking you your gender renders you paralyzed beyond rational thought.

I ate soy today, but I also finished building a rock wall in the garden (made from rocks i broke off bigger rocks with a sledgehammer etc). Gaf tells me I'm a soyboy pussy, but my work make me think I might be able to tip you over with nothing but my pinky.

I'm confused. Please advice.

Maybe don’t take the soy meme seriously and learn to laugh at it

The fact that you think you need to prove your masculinity to random denizens of a video game forum means you’re a soyboy by default.

School Sucks!
Sure, you were miserable and unpopular in high school, just like this eighteen-year-old. But he used his frustration to write a novel, one that got him a three-book deal, and you're still paying for therapy.

"We have never failed school -- it was school that failed us."
This line was taken from my current project, a sequel to my first novel, Truancy. It reflects my feelings and my experiences after twelve years of public education. In Truancy, rebellious students take up arms against a tyrannical system. I found my voice when I raised my pen against a broken system.
I began creative writing at the age of thirteen, first as a curiosity, and then as a hobby. I had fun writing fan fiction for my favorite videogames and television shows, and this introduced me to the joys of creation. During my first year I was fascinated with my own literary experimentation and growth. I flitted in and out of fan fiction communities where I could observe the efforts of others, and learn from their mistakes and successes. Each new discovery as a writer excited me, and as a consequence I learned much faster than I ever had in school.
After a little over a year, my abilities abruptly reached a chasm that needed to be bridged. I was now convinced that I had some measure of talent. However, it was one thing to apply that to an already existing universe, with established characters and plot. It was quite another to create my own from scratch.
My first attempt to leap across the chasm ended in failure. I started off by attempting a fantasy novel, a genre I was familiar with. I had an interesting premise, a lengthy outline, and an original and detailed world. But by the time I'd gotten a couple hundred pages in, I decided that what I had simply was not good enough. I abandoned the project at a crossroads in my life -- the point where parents and teachers start to explain that the goal of your existence should be to get into college. But in school I was suffering. I was unpopular, unappreciated -- even by my English teachers -- and struck every day with the feeling that I did not belong.
Only today, after years of contemplation, can I quantify what it was that bothered me: compulsory schooling punished independent thought, demanded passivity, rewarded uniformity, and sought to make me dependent upon instruction rather than confident in my own ability to grow and learn. College, unlike much of high school, is noncompulsory -- and I hope that it might be better.
Thanks to my writing I knew that, contrary to what some of my teachers told me, I was capable of growing and learning on my own. The time had come for me to either prove it to the world, or else slip through the cracks, another casualty of the system.
Thus Truancy was born. As I planned this novel, which would embody my frustrations with school, I felt that I was literally writing for my life. Then on summer vacation after my freshman year, at the age of fifteen, a mere two years after I first started writing, I completed my first novel at the rate of one chapter per day. I told the story of a student uprising against an oppressive educational system -- I depicted school harming others as it had harmed me.
This time it was not an experiment, but a passion piece. My experiences became the fuel that drove my writing, and ever since then I have returned to school intent on collecting more. The writing of Truancy was a defining point in my life. Had I failed, I'm not sure that I would ever have tried again. I couldn't afford to fail, and in the end I think that is why I succeeded.
I am eighteen years old now, and I've since written a second book, a prequel to Truancy, which is to be published next year. I have also begun work on a third, for school has not changed, even if I have.
I find myself much more relaxed now. Unlike the typical student, I work hard during my summers and tend to be as lax as possible during the school year. Writing has become an annual spiritual journey for me, derived from my family's traditional vacations. I travel somewhere isolated (usually the forests of Maine) and within a day my mind and body settle into a routine -- wake up, revise, write, sleep, repeat. Methodically I take my notes and outlines, accumulated over the past year, and then transform them into a complete novel. Each year I note my own improvement. In spite of being a high school student, I am still learning by myself, still growing -- and I don't ever intent to stop.
About the author: Isamu Fukui attends Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He first started writing for fun at the age of thirteen. The following year, he won a National Gold Award and a Regional Gold Key in the Science Fiction/Fantasy category of the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. The first book in his trilogy, Truancy, was recently released by Tor. Esquire 2008.
