Banned for basically saying innocent until proven guilty. Nice.
Honestly, his Trump Derangement Syndrome didn’t make me hate a legend like Robbie DeNiro, so even if he played fiddlesticks with some lady, he’s still gonna get the Michael Jackson pass from me.

Eventually they would have to compromise. I brought up prohibition because it had negative consequences yet didn't destroy the country, either. Social media is a paper tiger. The power people currently wield through social media is only as strong as the people who participate in the platform. After enough normies go "ouch, I don't like getting permanently smeared or lambasted on this fun social tool I'm using, I'm out of here" then the tool loses its power.

Somehow the USA even survived the rise of socialism and communism in our borders. We'll get by. Our own history proves that malicious ideologues never hold power in this country for too long. There are so many hurdles to overcome if one wanted to actually remove the EC anyway.

The point is that a surge of new voters rose up (women + immigrants) and pushed through one of the most insane social controls the modern world has seen. We banned alcohol. Yet it was rolled back within 13 years. Even if some new populist rising happens to get the EC suspended or removed, it will get rolled back and the party responsible will permanently fall out of power. Various groups and political parties have pushed against the constitution and even altered it (as in the case of Prohibition), yet the country self-corrected.

Just like I don't buy the idea of runaway climate change, I don't buy the idea of runaaway political damage. The country is designed to flex and self-correct. We'd find a way to fix it.

Running out of cheap food might do it. While alcohol isn't quite the same thing as a gross concentration of political power, the same force of moral authority was behind the ban.

You realize we are the longest running constitution in the world. You are taking for granted political stability. Only 8 countries have constitutions dating back to before the 20th century. Of the 156 countries with constitutions, the median age is only 28 years.

A study by Blattman and Miguel found that since 1960 around 30% of all countries are in a state of civil war at any given year.

By the way, this is why we should not discard Western Civilization in the name of diversity. It is western countries that tend to be the outliers for stability.

I'm not taking anything for granted. As you have pointed out yourself, we are the longest running constitution in the world. Evidently, there is something particularly stable about how our government and our citizens carry out their lives.

"Nothing lasts forever" is a nice truism, but it is worth our attention to ponder why the USA's system has lasted so long in spite of many upheavals and mistakes.

Banned for saying the truth. BBoy is absolutely right. He also doesn't dismiss the allegations as he wants the person to have a fair trial.

Just admit that you want to ban him for the other reason: Backseat Moderation where he's challenging the almighty mod powers that be. They banned him because they have the power to do so. That's all. Fuck them.

I put forward that our stability comes from a few areas:
  1. Economic prosperity
  2. Checks on pure democracy, and the tyranny of the majority
  3. Checks on the power of the national government, the union of the states
  4. Strong protections for the right of individuals over the rights of groups

Now what is the trend over the last 100+ years. It is to undermine 2-4. The 17th amendment, for example, was a big blow to states power and a step in the direction of direct democracy. The supremacy of the Supreme Court. Some of the biggest cultural changes have come not through the representatives of the poeple in the state and federal level, but from judicial fiat. The rights of individuals have been in decline for a long time. From the various environmental protection acts that destroy private property rights, to the Patriot Act and other laws that destroy due process and privacy, to the ever increasing amount of regulation over our choices (Obamacare, regulation in general, the federal register has grown from 2,600+ pages to 76,000+ pages in less than 90 years) it has been a steady march to putting the rights of the group above the rights of the individual, and an ever shrinking amount of permissible choices a person can make.

I don't believe in runaway political disasters. When governments fall into authoritarianism, it is because the people have willed it over a long period of time.

And from my perspective, the momentum is headed in the other direction. Our system prevents things from going too fast, which always gives the opposition time to observe and formulate their plan to counter it, and also for the populist to digest the topic and come up with an opinion. Sometimes the opposition fails to prevent such-and-such thing from going through, and sometimes they are successful.

I agree with all of your observations. Those things have been going on in the past 100 years, but that doesn't mean our country is doomed. The pendulum is more likely to swing than it is to snap (assuming we're not embroiled in disaster or civil war).

Trump still finding ways to troll the shit out of Resetera.

That said, screw the Democrats for creating this lame impeachment circus.

Edit: Also decided to take a look at the twitter thread, and the people there are just as dumb as Reset.

Damn, that's a special "Your facts and logic are not welcome here" ban.
LOL.

I like how some minorities will claim a hard nosed minority status of [insert ethnicity here] when the family tree can have a wide range of backgrounds.

Some guy might have every parent and ancestor being white, except for one random person 240 years ago being a dark guy, and somehow people claim he's from dark skinned heritage.

Tiger Woods is a good example. He's half black and half thai (I think). Yet, the number of times people bring up he's 50% thai is never.

Tiger Wood’s mother said she is of Thai, Chinese, and Dutch ancestry. His father said he is African, Chinese, and Native American descent. He’s more Asian than anything else.

I'm sorry, but he was claimed by the African Americans in the Racial Draft.

The deal has been done.

Tiger Woods is also considered an uncle tom by a lot of these crazy fucks because he's friends with Trump. Tiger Woods is also the most relevant black athlete of his time when you consider that he's a black dude that out of nowhere became the GOAT at fucking golf. Just to show how idiotic this obsession with politics is, when you stop appreciating Tiger because of some insane standards despite being a blacked.com obsessed fuckface then you're just a fucking moron goddamn typing that made me mad.

  5. Having only two borders.
  6. Coast to Coast territorial control.
  7. Genocide of indigenous population.

Geography matters. Wiping out the population who is not loyal to the republic matters.

It doesn't look pretty on a list tho.

Never knew that. All people bring up is Tiger is Black.

But media and social group wise that makes sense. Asians don't seem like the type of people craving for attention.

Name one Thai or Chinese person who ever came out saying Tiger should have recognition being part Thai or Chinese for sake of being a great golfer? Never.

Why are we talking about politics in a thread dedicated to ripping on the mentally insane? We have a politics forum for that.
We have consistently and repeatedly tried to get people to stop talking about politics in this thread and it always seeps back in. I don't know what the solution is at this point.

Here’s the thing, what if the next centrist Democrat becomes president and the Republicans find reason for impeachment?

After this shit show it might take hundreds of years before they stop trying to indict and impeach each other over every infraction.
Everyone wants to act like they are better then the gen before them, but right now they are acting more like people from the 1900s instead of the 1990s.

Time is a flat circle and we seem to be just rolling backwards.

Insanity. What pisses me off is how fucking cowardly the community is on REEEEEsetera. How can you even claim to be someone who believes in science (especially when it comes to climate issues) then also not even dare challenge this.
These fools are so afraid of being banned from posting shitty takes on some fucking video game forum, they're willing to let someone get banned with the most bullshit charge ever just for asking a sincere and logical question. Fucking seriously?

I just looked this guy up and see his ban is over now. I bet he went back after his absurd ban expired and started posting there again. Not only will no one stand up to the ban, but the banned posters always come back for more.

It's fucking sad. Humans really are social and tribal animals. We go to amazing lengths, much to the detriment of our own individuality and personal integrity, just to feel like we belong.

You know....ResetEra must think they are the Scanner's Evil guy who wish to suck other people's brains dry for an opinion.

Fortunately, most people ignore them or reflect like the guy in the Video!

Being bisexual myself, this clip was absolutely sickening to watch. No, bisexuals are not solely attracted to males/females, and pansexuals are not the only ones who can be attracted to trans people.

Really sad that some of the only pan representation in media has to be so awful.

Imagine getting worked up over a cartoon calling being bisexual boring.

Cartoon sort of has a point....but i suppose they need to classify that awkward period we all had when we fucked fruit/shoes/pillows until we figured out if we liked practising this on an female or male but i guess some of us still like frying pans like this person
and i instantly regret googling this for an image
