Official Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Demonstration YES YES ALL OVER MY OCTOCAM

look man, none of that explains the fact of why you go into every single ps3 thread and post negative comments, and never in any 360 thread.

There is zero doubt if this was on 360 you would be extremely positive.

But it is. :lol

This makes every other game where you shoot guns look so basic.

Laying down and shooting is absolutely brilliant.

That rifle he shot at the beginning sounded amazing.

Hey one thing we haven't heard of in quite a while is the weapons customization mode. I remember Kojima saying that guns would be heavily customizable.

You can tell that Meryl's gun in the E3 trailer is modified as is Snake's in this trailer.

This is a very important point.

AI designed for the benefit of fun gameplay is the most enjoyable to engage in combat. It's not stupid, but it does allow the player to perform a number of actions that would not be realistically possible. This adds to the enjoyable. It wouldn't be any fun if you were spotted too easily.

Okay, but when you have tools like Octocam, shouldn't you be able to better deal with a more realistic guard model?

I think the little knife cuts in Snake's suit on the back is a really cool little detail. DL-ing gamevideos file at 55kb/sec. 72% done. Can't wait.

With the apparent leaps in the amount of gameplay options, it's feeling like MGS2 all over again.

Well it's time for bed. I would love to stay and see Deepblue break down completely but I guess we've gotten more than our share of that lately.

Congrats Kojima and please have a HD trailer available when I wake up please.

In IRC I complained about the animations of my dearly beloved Halo 3. And of course, the unfinished graphics of Forza 2. Of course the system warriors on GAF like ignore small details and true discussion.

I did enjoy the on the back shooting bit, and I appreciate the detail of the delayed firing of the RPG. But there are issues with the game at hand that deserve to be discussed fairly rather than shoved aside in favor of masturbatory hyperbole. If such discussion is pushed aside, however, NeoFAQs indeed.

I agree with you, but the thing is you can address these things a little more subtle and not sound like somebody who is bitter...most things you state are true, but the game is like pre alpha or beta or whatever it's called. Lot's of things will be improved or has not even be implemented yet. And add the fact that you are apperantly anti-Sony you could expect this kind of reaction on your posts.

I have substantiated all of my comments. I am actually attempting to discuss elements of the game. Unfortunately the majority of people here couldn't care less about discussion from what I've read. Sad.

Yeah, you're also substantially f'in annoying

Anyways. DL'ing the video (Blim's torrent) now. Can't wait omgomgomg :D

Well, your point about the AI of the soldiers isn't necessaraly true. Given the environment they are in, there are several explanations as to why they did not turn around when the barrel was approaching them:

They can not hear well due to being in a combat scenario

Their gear prevented them from hearing.

They heard the barrel, but didn't react in time before being steamrolled

They heard the barrel but given the fact it was not a gunshot and it was the sound of a rolling barrel(especially since there is wind and they had just seen the barrel), they didn't even react to the sound

I would guess a HD version would be at LEAST around 800MB it would be worth it though.:D

MP4 would be around 1.2GB if its considered "great" quality (9400 bitrate). I weep for Blim's server.

Deepblue reminds me of this guy from IGN, davemilford, who claimed to work for IBM on PowerPC compilers. His forte was slamming everything Sony and praising everything Microsoft. 'Deepblue' is an IBM super-computer that makes extensive use of IBM's POWER architecture.

I know this will probably sound stupid, but it was just a random thing I found funny cause it reminded me of all those people in Battlefield 1942 running around Berlin or Stalingrad and soon as they spot you they lie down on the ground and fire.

Not a single jaggie anywhere?

There are some. You can see them on Snake's character model in the realtime cutscene.

IMO the gameplay actually looks much better than the cutscene....it's possible they are still tweaking and tuning up the cutscenes though. The game's textures are muuuuch sharper out of the cutscenes than in.

You have to understand, DB (and probably others) most likely stayed up this entire time, just waiting for the change to jump on any mention of mgs for another console and then to have that pulled out from under you has to suck and the only resort is trolling.

Anyway, on to the topic at hand... I am honestly blown away.
I had some reservations after kind of building this game up a bit too much in my head but honestly it exceeds everything I built up.
But damn you japan only beta!!!

Yeah, common tactic. It's how everybody played in COD2 online as well. Just one of those lame exploits that people abuse.

I'm really liking what they've done with the gameplay. The featureset of moves have been upgraded with alot more pratically and interaction (which is good, MGS3 had some gimmicky features such as the injury and food system). What has impressed me is the flow, I mean MGS gameplay has always had a pretty good flow because they're slightly arcadey in nature, but I'm liking what I'm seeing.

My only complain is that the real time cut scene at around 9 min dont look as good as the trailer.

But the rest is SICK!!!!
