US, December 13, 2007 - Videogame software sales tracker NPD Group released November data and, unsurprisingly, Nintendo's DS handheld and Wii home console held the number-one and two spots respectively. More than 1.5 million gamers picked up the DS in November and about 981,000 players picked up a Wii, according to NPD data. Microsoft's Xbox 360 console pulled in another 770,000 gamers; PlayStation Portable 567,000; PlayStation 2 496,000 and PlayStation 3 466,000.

The top-selling game of the month was the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4, with nearly 1.5 million in sales. Nintendo's anticipated platformer, Super Mario Galaxy, took the second spot with upward of 1.1 million. Other notable Wii success stories for the month include Wii Play (at number five) with more than 560,000 units sold; the Wii version of Guitar Hero III (at number eight) with more than 425,000 additional units sold, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (at 11) with nearly 330,000 units sold, Lego Star Wars at nearly 180,000 units sold and High School Musical at roughly the same figure.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption has sold through almost 500,000 copies in America since it released. Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure continues to struggle at retail with less than 35,000 in sales.

IGN
Holy shit.

I was wondering wth was wrong with gaf, going slow and HTTP errors, and now I see it's NPD day.

It's been a while since Gaf suffered from this.

Nice numbers for COD4 and SMG (the latter I bet will have long-ass legs, while the front will be mainly front-loaded; typical for many huge 360 titles).

Hardware wise, well, nice all around. A little lower than I expected for the Wii however :p

Oh, and the DS is hangin' in :D

I'd say overall, Microsoft and Nintendo should be VERY pleases with these numbers.

christ, 1.5 million DS?

freaking incredible. Incredible.

Nice SMG numbers. I can see my initial prediction of six millions worldwide more plausible, but then again I wasn't doubting it

but but but...this was supposed to be the month that the PS3 would outsell the 360, lol. I guess we will have to wait until next month (which is what they say every month, whether it is a price drop or a big release, ie. Ratchet, Lair, Drake, etc.....)

Zack and Wiki mega bomba ;(

Good Mario Galaxy sales. insane CoD4 sales. Wii did what I predicted, as the the 360. PS3 is a failure. Worse than GameCube.

"If the year had ended on December 1st, 2007 would be up 5% versus last year," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier. "With the biggest month of the year yet to go, total industry sales are on track to achieve between $18B and $19B in the U.S."

Software numbers were equally encouraging, with Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (selling 3.5X more on Xbox 360 than PS3) and Nintendo of America's Super Mario Galaxy clearly pulling ahead of the pack. Unfortunately, November hopefuls Rock Band and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune both failed to break into the top 10. We'll have more on those games and others in an NPD follow-up tomorrow, and look forward to discussion on their numbers in the next 1UP Yours. November 2007 Software Sales

Less than a million Wii's sold? I blame Nintendo for not shipping enough.

They were 19k from a million, 19 fucking thousand, in NOVEMBER, December is going to be fun, also, DS selling 1.5million, thats frankly incredible, and yey for SMG, over a million first month, THATS how it should sell, are you listening JAPAN?

Nintendomination total, respectable yet not brilliant PS3 sales (Compared to October) and lower than expected 360 sales, nice CoD4, assassins creed and Guitar Hero sales too.

Yey for Mass Effect too, nearly 500k! :p

IGN

ok, so it took Metroid four months to reach something like 495k, what does that mean it sold this month? (since we have all the other numbers)

Mario and Sonic 330,000 (well that's not a bomb, but it sure won't reach 4 million with those numbers any time soon)

Lego Star Wars 180,000 (what demographic buys these?)

High School Musical ~180,000 (ewwww, now we'll see clones on an annual basis)
