Well, I would suggest that year 2008, the GAF_spec are chosen like this :
- Only person in the Top30 2007, whole year list
- During 2008, for every month, if that member did not get into Top 30%, he will not get additional weight value. If he did get into Top30%, then he get additional value.
GAF_spec are calculated by considering the weight value.

Example :
Say Person A & Person B both show up in Year 2007 Top 30.
In January, since there was no history yet, both A & B Have Weight Value of 1.
Jan 2008, there are 200 predictor, so the 30% value is 60.
A prediction is ranked #24, while B is #70.
A's Weight Value became 2, while B's weight value remain the same = 1

In Feb 2008 prediction, for calculation of GAF_spec, A's prediction is multiplied by 2, while B;s prediction is multiplied by 1 (and the total calculation is divided by total weight, which is 2+1=3)

Feb 2008, there are 300 predictor, so the 30% value is 90.
A prediction is ranked #85, while B is #95.
A's Weight value became 3, while B's weight value remain the same = 1

In March 2008 prediction, for calculation of GAF_spec, A's prediction is multiplied by 3, while B's prediction is multiplied by 1 (and total calculation is divided by total weight, which is 3+1 = 4).

The purpose of the complex calculation of GAF_spec is to take into account that not everyone on the Top30 can predict consistently well. The weight value made those who perform consistently well (always inside the Top 30% cut-off point) to have more influence compared to those who are not as consistent.

Oh well, I may not get a big boost from the ordinal position bonus, since so many (47%) got them right.

As Brakara said, you have more months of predictions than most. The prediction thread really started to pick up with the March/April NPDs. Also for the rankings, you only have to do better than those around you.

I'm still hoping to come back some in the rankings, but I think JoshuaJSlone's got this year wrapped up.
