I doubt "big" announcements/reveals on games like that will come at this point, but TGS is not over.

Holy shit, White Knight looks amazing. Actually, the majority of these games look amazing, and not just graphically.

Still looking for impressions of Metal Gear Solid PO, Ace Combat X, Lunar Knights, Luminous Arc, Gyakuten Saiban 4, and that Naruto GNT-like Fighter in the portable realm as well.

" Amidst all the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hands-on impressions and high-resolution videos, Gamasutra sat in on a Q&A session with Epic Games' CEO Tim Sweeney during TGS, where he discussed the difficulties and benefits of working with the PlayStation 3 hardware, how game development will change in the future and his enthusiasm for Sony's "enlightened business model" when it comes to online gaming.

Sony's approach will enable Epic Games to grant fans access to create their own content for Unreal Tournament 2007 using Epic Games-released development tools and distribute them to PlayStation 3 users. Nothing like this has been attempted on consoles before because it wrestles control over content from the publishers, but Sweeny says he "would love to transfer this mod community over to the console platforms."

One of the key differences between online gaming in the PC space and the console world is the interaction between the gamer and the game itself. On the PC, developers typically release tools that open up entire communities to creating modifications, ranging from a new character to full-scale conversions of gameplay and assets. Previously, this hasn't been possible on consoles.

Microsoft has started taken steps towards this issue with the release of their XNA tools, but this limits fans to developing their own games, not producing additional content for existing releases. Considering how shooter-oriented the Xbox machines are, it's a little disheartening for the hardcore, and with the advent of microtransactions, it's a little difficult to remove cynicism that Microsoft simply doesn't want to take away from potential profit.

Even Sweeny agrees Microsoft hasn't been easy to negotiate with on the issue. "Unfortunately it's [Xbox Live] more of a closed platform," and says they've even been "quite negative toward user-created content."

If Sony's gamble is successful, we could see an interesting balance between user-created content and developer-driven, more polished, purchasable releases. The model works on the PC -- why else do you think companies are able to sell expansion packs while users continue to crank out their own content? The question is whether Microsoft will end up following suit."

Woah ... sweet news on the Sony side of things ...

... and bogus news to hear MS's general stance towards 'user-created content'.

Shit, don't let MS find out that
in Far Cry you can create your own maps and share them with other players

I was, until I saw more of it. Seems to be a trend. Now it still appears to be a glorified tech demo, the "Feel the Magic" of the Wii launch if you will.

Right, but see all those 2007 games? 2008 games? PS3 isn't out yet, and I already know so much about the amazing software in the pipeline. Nintendo has done exactly zero to show what i should be anticipating, outside of yet MORE games in the same old franchises they make and maybe a Squareenix FF:CC sequel.

Ah sweet, sweet denial, why dont you take a few deep breaths and calm down for a moment before you spew some more insane gibberish? Nintendo is currently running laps around Sony and yet you refuse to admit it. Take a hint Amir0x, everyone in here is making fun of you.

holy shit :lol

wow, if this is denial it's the best denial ever. It's ok, Azure, Nintendo needs to shape the **** up for Wii and they haven't yet. I'm sure they'll still deliver in the end though.

Stop it. Please.

Anyway, after looking back at the OP, one really realizes the massive disparity of news in favour of the PS3. Guess it really was that console's time to shine.:)

sorry for a stupid question

Is there any official announcement about the price change in US/Europe yet ?

Apparently, price drop is limited to Japan.

Possibility of European price drop, but don't count on it.

Also: Which of the four is the Black Wizard in your avatar?

it's confirmed at the moment that the price drop is JAPAN only. But, the entire world will be getting the HDMI in the 20gig pack.

Which is absolutely useless to someone like me. :(

Stupid Bluray. And stupid hi-def.

Not useless to me. What it means is that essentially the PS3 got a 100 dollar price drop since the 20gb pack is no longer retard :D

Look at Peach's shadow, looks really bad compared with Mario's (cut in)... but honestly, I have no clue where this is from. Looks too good to be fake.

I'd expect an official press release from Sony about an all-region price drop. At this point it would be foolish just to do one territory- and choosing the territory that would buy the higher price without a fuss anyway just doesn't make sense.
The US and EU are where the real battles will be fought- and Sony's gonna want to push systems past launch as furiously as they can to catch up with MS. Dropping the prices in March/April would be a massive kick to the balls of roughly 2 million consumers that bought a PS3 @ launch. @_@

...oh... and where in the hell is the FFXIII and FFvsXIII media? ****in' Square-Enix...

I thought there was a new trailer for FFXIII?

Regardless, from what I can tell, this TGS they were rather DS-centric.

There is an extended FFXIII trailer and, from what I heard, one for FFvsXIII as well.

They just haven't been made readily available to the public... -_-

I don't know, man... MS got ****ing SLAMMED by the Japanese press over the price of the X360. I don't think they're that big spenders anymore.
