Official Two Worlds thread - the Oblivion killer?

Found this:

Highly Estimeed MR XY
(this is just the greeting).

I can certainly understand why you were upset at this news.
(or I can understand you upheaval/anger/amazement/excitement over this news).

However, we (at zuxxex) were just as surprised to learn about this delay that you were, and we are just as disappointed at you. (källt erwischt acrually means simething like 'coldly surprised' or something like that, but you really can't translate this well to English).

We would like to have told you the reason behind the dealy, but, as already mentioned in the press-release, we cannot do so. (or more correctly: 'we are not allowed to do so, or we may not do so).

This probably sounds strange (or odd/weird), however, this is due to (or has background in) high-ranking external interests which have an interest in the publication (or official announcement) of console-version, which is to to be released by a third-party publisher (gesehen geworden.) [And that's how far I got with this sentence, I hope it does make sense, I've tried my best...].
PS: The game is as good as finished. (meaning it is finished). :ranting:

The second email:
The new release date is probably May 17, 2007. (or 5/17/07 - in the US date).
I hope, in spte of all this trouble, that you still will be (or stay) loyal to Two Worlds. The game as well as the developers (or the developing team)have certainly deserved it.

Well, at least the PC version already shipped (prematurely).

Found an interesting statement on the official forums, regarding the rumors that TW is delayed indefinitely, because Sony bouht the rights for a PS3 timed exclusive. The quote is from Dirk Hassinger, VP Business Development:

Rough translation:
What bullshit - Reality Pump doesn´t even have a press officer, neither someone named "Belic". And Reality Pump is not holding press conferences.
The X360 version is finished from a developer point of view, and has a multiplayer part. For a PS3 version the concept-approval has not been requested. We are investigating the possibility of developing a PS3 version, and if we decide to, Sony has to investigate if they want that too. To enable us to find out, we -or, to be more precise, our US company- bought PS3 dev kits half a year ago.
If there will be a PS3 version it will for sure not be a port, but a further developed version, an enhancement.
And to add this right away: we also have Nintendo Wii and DS dev kits - but this doesn´t mean necessarily that we are developing a DS version. We think its absolutely normal, to try out new platforms to find out if it makes any sense to develop on them.
On consoles the respective console manufacturer decides what and when anything shows up as a game on their platform. And if this manufacturer doesn´t like what he gets from a developer or publisher, he can force them to change whatever he wants. Alternatively the game never sees the light of day. It happens, that this manufacturers have other interests, priorities and wishes than the publisher and developer.
Regarding purchasability - while I think there aren´t any offers like this, we would f.i. for no money in the world make a DX10-only game, because we want our games to be played. Therefore a platform has to have an installed base.

I just hope this game hits soon, Has DECENT ENGLISH Voice acting/good multiplayer, and I hope it get's some more hype(If it's deserved) because God only knows we need more quality Western RPG's.

That would be dumb, it's not like Two Worlds was on everyone's radar.
More like a niche title for the Morrowind/D&D crowd.

So anyways anymore reviews of this game anywhere other than that European 360 magazine.

Nope, just found a couple more previews. But the reviews should be coming in starting tomorrow - the PC version will be unlocked from tomorrow on.

This is like what was told me: the game is stuck in the certification process. I'd like to know what MS wanted to be changed...

Are there any PC version reviews yet? Except that one that called Oblivion already killed ;)

Patching the game before it's is even out?

The game is already out, some shops sell it since saturday (the PC version that is). But the registration just started yesterday noon (GMT).

The patch, whilst there is no official changelog, is said to improve the MP netcode, add several new MP quests, weapons and two species of monsters.

Yesterday I discovered that the girl on the game's cover is an homage to Zuxxex's CEO, Alexandra Constandache:

Word on German forums so far is that it's decent - no masterpiece, but entertaining and not nearly as bug ridden as Gothic 3. I do wonder if there will be a modding community for this game, since there seems to be much untapped potential...

Lol, who wrote that. What is that even saying? That doesn't say anything about a PS3 timed exclusive. So you're saying they may make a PS3 version yet they will hold back on the 360 version until that is done and released. That certainly not what I just got from that. Sounds more like MS cert process than anything which is supposedly where the game is right now. And/or working out the rumors of potential cross platform play.

Wait what? I think we´ve got a complete misunderstanding, so let´s try to put it back together:

- 360 version gets delayed, no reason given
- on a polish forum a rumor surfaces, stating that the reason for the delay is Sony, paying the publisher to hold it and make it timed exclusive for PS3, citing a guy named "Belic" as the press officer of the publisher as source
- on the official forum the VP Business Development goes online, denying this rumor as FUD, and his very statement got quoted by me
- but he fails to deliver the REAL reason for the delay, so some speculation about a rift between MS and the publisher over the Live-Anywhere implementation wont die

Right, gotcha. So what is this so called rift exactly? The cross-platform itself? Shouldn't be too hard although they would have to make it for gold members only I believe at least that is the outline in which MS stated in their PR on live anywhere.

Rumor has it, that they implemented LiveAnywhere from the getgo - and MS forces them to take it out, because they want to be the first ones themselves with Shadowrun to offer this functionality. The compromise seems to be to add this later as a download (microrapement?). And the unhappy publisher/developer leaked this to the media, so MS is unhappy and thus the game stuck in "certification".
BUT, like I said, thats a rumor.

"intuitives kampfsystem"

Well, that's a a relief.

The lists of Pro and Kontra are both unusually long - I kind of like the format.

Something crazy's going on in that screen with the blood, the magic flares, the surprised-looking fellow whose head is vanishing into his shoulders, and the wolves. I think our protagonist is winning the fight, but f*ck knows how.

PS: updated OP, title change

Sad how these unofficial screenshots look miles better than the official ones. I'd like some impressions from Gothic 2 fans. After a few patches it might turn out to be a decent game after all.

Next review of the PC version, by Game7:

PRO:
+ huge free world

+ interesting combination system
+ free character system
+ nice animations
+ dynamic fights
+ many weapons and armor parts
+ well done voice acting
+ good magic system
+ well done Collectors Edition

+ pad layout integrated
CON:
- horses hard to steer

Result: 6 of 7, Hot Buy
Graphics 5/7, Sound 6/7, Gameplay 6/7, SP 6/7, MP 5/7

(updated OP)

Wow, that Eurogamer review stated it took the author 17 hours to complete the game - and not only including the main quest but most of the sub quests and thorough exploration of the map. Disappointment total.

Some questions, I know they were probably answered, but i'm trying to be as spoilers free as possible when it comes to interesting games..

Is the combat real time like in Oblivion? It looked kind of weird in the videos..

How about the game is a buggy piece of shit that would take tons of patches to get up to speed on a console? My Cert process has some leniency but not Star Wars Galaxies leniency.

Maybe the game just isn't up tp spec for any console regardless of which it is?

Ok so FINALLY my little brother is gone for a week and I get to play this game (on his PC of course, mine isn't strong enough). He's got 1500MB RAM, Athlon 3000+, Geforce 8600 and he's running the game at max settings without any trouble.

I've been playing for a couple of hours now (lots of hours xD) and to be honest, at first it felt a little weird (compared to Oblivion), but then you realize this is how it should feel. The cities are alive, the medieval atmosphere is everywhere and the looting is much better too. There are A LOT MORE different weapons, clothes, armors etc. And I mean, A LOT MORE.

The combat could be better, but it's not bad (I mean, there's dual wielding). But the Magic is awesome. There are lots of spells and it's just awesome. I mean, Bethesda, THIS IS HOW MAGIC SHOULD BE, LEARN PLZ.

Well the map is HUGE and it's filled with bandits, gnoms, city's, etc etc. Lot's and lot's of quests of course.

I mean, I'm a real Oblivion lover, spend more than 200 hours on Oblivion (incl Shivering Isles) but this game is really an Oblivion killer :D
