Official Two Worlds thread - the Oblivion killer?

@ D.Cowboys:
*shrugs* Maybe, but without any official word from either side, all I can do is speculate.

@ Lonesome_Raod:
For Germany it differs between June 8th and June 22nd, but without any official...

@ Scalemail Ted:
Yes it is. Both PvP in an Arena mode, and co-op to solve quests together with others.

Is this still slated for a 360 release? If yes, I might try it out.

But by the looks of it, I would say that they are no longer planning a 360 version. The game has failed to launch as it seems, I think that it has become yet another shallow Gothic clone with no real substance.

Will wait for the Witcher.

Huh? Game is still in MS certification. So this is "failed to launch" nowadays?!

They are selling it on the German Amazon.com and it is slated for a June 4th release according to the site.

Yesterday I discovered that the girl on the game's cover is an homage to Zuxxex's CEO, Alexandra Constandache:

God she looks like a Russian(or German) spy you need to tie up and whip with a daisy until she talks or OTHER things happen...:) Without a doubt the hottest girl in gaming

Anyway About the game it "SEEMS" that the graphics have been dialed back about two notchs from when I first saw this. The Reviews looked good, but someone said they finished this game in under 20 hours, looking at the map that seems hard to believe, I need MORE GAF personal reviews, I don't know this might be a new Arx Fatalis, not sure how I feel about that?

That's not bad at all. Lurking over on the official boards, I couldn't really get an accurate gauge as to if the game is actually good or not. The consensus seems to be that you either love it or absolutely hate it. One guy named it his personal GOTY across all platforms, while another went on a tirade and questioned how such garbage could even get through certification.

If you like Oblivion, you will prefer Two Worlds :) It's just better.

Do u know what kind of program I should use for making screens? Cuz I can't just press "Print Screen" cuz then I get a big black screens with the Two Worlds Logo :/

@ Bigmit:
All 360 versions are delayed - its still in MS certification.
But the IGN link above talks about mid-July...

BLIIIIM - we need your help here! :)

Hammer24 said:
Well, I asked Blim and he thinks, we should give Snagit or Fraps a try.
Thx again, Blim! :)
Snagit didn't seem to work, but maybe I have to change the settings, I'll try again when I get back from the gym :)

Fraps works great, I've made some screens of the menu's etc too. No comments on the outfit that doesn't really fit together (due to the merging of items each seperate item has become immensly powerfull (and worth a fortune), later on in the game I'll look for an outfit that fits together xD Also, robes do look better, but they're just not that strong, but worth a lot of money, so I prefer selling them. The fire you see on some screens is a magic spell that litteraly burns everything (incl grass). I have no screens of desert areas cuz I've not been there yet.

Any multiplayer impressions would be great as well. How many players does it support and how deep is the online component?
Sorry didn't see your post. I know you can play with 8 players and that you can take quests together (even make quests I heard), but the PC I'm playing the game on has a broken wireless network adapter, so my brother will have to buy one first after he gets back. I'll give impressions of the MP then :)

Thanks XSamu, your shots look ALOT better than earlier ones. The cities could use better/more interesting ground textures. But it Definitely(looking at the player customization screens) looks deep.

Yeah, just went to the gamefaq boards. The US version is mid-July. Closed server too!
I look forward to this game, but I really need to update my rig.

Thanks for the pics and the impressions. I'm definitely picking it up in July. :)

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but several people have claimed that there's a major game-breaking mechanic that allows players to get to the first town and kill the end-game boss, finishing the main quest in ten minutes. And, unlike Oblivion, once you kill the final boss character, the game kicks you back to the menu screen and ends... you can't continue playing.

Probably a key reason why Microsoft has it stuck in certification purgatory for the next several months.

Don't know if he's the end boss or anything, but at first you can't beat him (when beginning the game), he's way too powerfull. But I played a lot before starting the main quest and when I started it, I saved the game first, and killed him than to look if he had some nice things I could take.... to my surprise I got 2 movies (am not gonna spoil it) and I got indeed back to the main menu. But care, I just loaded my game and let the guy live.

I just saw all those pics. It's looks like lots of player customization in terms of skills and weapons. *drool*. Man I really need to upgrade!!

Thanks for sharing.

Thx for the pics, highly appreciated! :)
Would you say its more of a "Diablo 3D" (because of the fighting system), or more like an "Oblivion-clone"?

PS: Oh, and any interest for a 360-GAF Clan, guys?

I never played Diablo (I was never into PC gaming), but the combat system isn't really that much different from Oblivion no. Yeah magic plays a bigger part because magic attacks are actually usefull. But it's just slashing with you weapons and as your allowed to wear 3 weapons at the same time, you can switch the type of weapon for the type of enemy (most of the animals can't come near if you're using a lance) but it's not rly deeper, just like Oblivion.

Thanks a lot for the info and screens Hammer24 & XSamu. The only game I had for the 360 was Oblivion for several months and I loved it (minus the bugs admittedly) and Two Worlds is looking better and better every time I pop into the thread.

If I get Gold membership, I'll definitely be in. Even if I don't I've got three months of free Gold membership saved up in offers because of my broken 360s. :lol

Thx for the impressions. Oh, and please do another screengrab when you see a dragon, please! :)
Will do :)

That's also a strange thing in Two Worlds. Overall you see a lot of the same type of adversaries, but then you encounter a whole army of creatures you've never seen before, then you encounter 2 giant stone golems, etc. but most of them you probably won't see again. Kinda strange/fun.

Some new screens including the desert area. I really like the change of scenery, but unline in the normal forest like world, the villages and cities are not noted on the map, so you'll have to scout the area until you find one.

As for the dragons, I found lava dragons around an Orc city and a sand dragon at the entrance of the desert. But a lot of my recent quests mention huge dragons, but I haven't found them yet (haven't done the quests).

BTW: On one screen you see two scorpions floating in the air, but that's because I frose them with a spell.

It's nothing at all like Oblivon. You can't fight in first person, blocking is automatic, control is more like a top-down game, special attacks are hotkeyed, etc...

It's definitely more Diablo or Gothic than Oblivion (in just about every way, not just combat).

Well I haven't played Diablo so I don't know. But the game itself resembles Oblivion quite a lot.

The game seems much more like Gothic than Oblivion. If you happen to like this game, try to pick of Gothic 2 if you haven't already.

Is that a dungeon shot? I love the Egyptian flavor

The desert area is great, and is exactly what was missing from Oblivion. More variety in scenery is a welcome change.

Yep a dungeon. The whole desert area is in the Egyptian style.

Hey, something I meant to ask you about the other day. I know that you can only fight in third person perspective, but can you run around the country in first person? Not really a big deal if you can't, but it would be a nice addition to have.

I'm loving the fact that you have to do all the exploring and find everything by yourself, without some compass showing you where all the cities/dungeons are located in the game world.

Solid. Orcs have deserved their own cities for ages, and have had to make do with caves and ruins and the like. This game looks so over the top that I am going to have to give it a shot. I can get my fix of polish from this year's later games, but raw 'WTF AM I GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT THAT ?' moments are good enough. Does it look better in motion, though ?

XSamu, thanks for the pics! :) These blueish shining swords look just sick.
Keep them coming! (some snowy woods would make a nice change ;))

IGN had another game update yesterday. After revealing the achievements last week, this week they explain all the (active and passive) skills:

Note that skills marked with an * are skills that you start with in the single-player game.

::The Skills::

Accuracy - Quite simply, this skill increases an archer's general accuracy. The higher this skill is, the better you'll be at firing a bow.

*Air Magic - This school of magic focuses on increasing the attributes of its practitioner. Points put into Air Magic allow you to cast higher level air spells.

Alchemy - Even if you don't have any points in this skill, you can still throw ingredients into a pot and create potions and items. However, those who do increase their Alchemy skill will find their creations becoming more effective.

Balance - The defense against the Knock Down skill, the higher your Balance, the less likely you are to be felled by someone trying to put you to the ground.

Berserking - When you're berserking, an enemy cannot stop your series of attacks with a counterattack. However, this ability can only be used for a limited time. Increasing Berserking will make your periods of rage last longer.

Blinding Arrow - With this skill, you can aim at opponent's eyes. A successful use of this skill will blind your target. The more you invest in Blinding Arrow, the higher the percentage chance of success.

Break Sword - This skill actually works against any weapon, not just swords. The more points you have invested, the better your chance of shattering a foe's weapon.

Burn - A skill that's especially handy when exploring underground, Burn allows you to push a lit torch into an opponent's face - both blinding them and dealing damage. Putting points in this skill makes it more likely your foe will be left defenseless and increases the damage dealt.

*Critical Hit - With this skill, every melee attack will have a chance of dealing a hefty amount of damage. When you put skill points into Critical Hit, your chance of dealing one of these mighty blows increases, as does the amount of damage you'll deal.

Deadly Pirouette - With a two-handed weapon and this skill, you can make a deadly spinning attack that will strike everyone surrounding you. The better you are at this skill, the more accurate this attack will be, and the more damage it will deal.

Death Strike - An assassin's best friend, this skill allows you to deal massive damage to unsuspecting foes. You must be sneaking and using a knife for there to even be a chance of this skill succeeding, but the higher your skill level, the more deadly a successful Death Strike will be.

*Defensive Combat - When you use this skill, incoming attacks score less damage, but you deal less damage with your own attacks as well. Increasing this skill causes incoming attacks to cause even less damage while at the same time allowing you to deal more damage with your strikes.

*Dirty Trick - For those who want to win by any means necessary, Dirty Trick teaches you the fine art of kicking dirt in your opponents' eyes. The higher your skill, the more likely you are to blind adversaries with this feat. However, no matter how high your skill is, Dirty Trick never works against those using a shield.

Disarming Arrow - With this skill, you're given a percentage chance to knock a weapon out of an opponent's hand. The higher the skill, the better the chance of disarming.

Double Blade - This skill allows you to use two weapons at once, but at the cost of each weapon dealing less damage. As you increase Double Blade, these penalties disappear.

Earth Magic - This school of magic focuses on defense. Points put into Earth Magic give you spells that make it harder and harder for your opponents to even scratch you.

*Fast Aiming - When firing a bow in Two Worlds, as you pull back the string, the camera will zoom in on your target. The farther you zoom in, the more damage your bow attack will do. Fast Aiming causes zooming to happen faster, thus allowing you to fire off more damaging missile attacks in less time.

*Fire Magic - This magic school is all about offense. Increasing this skill gives you access to even more damaging spells.

Knock Down - With this skill, every hit you score against an opponent will have a chance to throw them to the ground, making them defenseless until they get up. The skill Balance is the defense against this skill.

*Lockpicking - Every lock in Two Worlds is given a rating from easy to impossible. Even one point in Lockpicking will give you a chance to open every lock, but the harder the lock is, the less likely you are to succeed (and you break a lockpick with every failure). The higher your skill level, the better your chances of opening more difficult locks.

Multi-Arrows - Using this skill lets you fire multiple arrows with a single shot at the cost of accuracy. However, as you put points into this skill, you'll be able to fire even more arrows with one shot and they will all become more accurate.

Necromancy - The forbidden art that allows users to steal life from others and summon undead creatures. As your skill level increases, the most deadly of this school's spells become available.

Overdraw - Whereas Fast Aiming increases how fast the camera zooms in on an opponent, Overdraw increases the amount you zoom in. The higher this skill, the farther you'll zero in on a target, and the more damage you'll deal to them.

Parrying - You can parry incoming attacks with either a shield or a second weapon in your off hand. Though some of your success in this action is equipment-based, it's points in this skill that determines most how well you block melee attacks.

Piercing Arrow - If you have this skill, not only will you harm your target, you'll also have a chance of your arrow going right through your opponent and piercing the other behind them. The better you are at this skill, the higher chance you have of shooting through your first target, and the more damage you'll deal to your secondary target.

*Precise Aiming - This skill allows you to hit the unprotected weak spots of a target. The better you are at it, the more likely it is your arrows will bypass an opponent's defense.

Pull Shield - A special attack for axe users, this skill rips the shield out of your enemy's hand and flings it to the ground. The better you are at this skill, the more likely this maneuver is to succeed.

*Riding - Allows you to ride on the various mounts in Two Worlds. The higher your skill level, the more damage you'll deal to non-mounted opponents when you're in the saddle.

*Setting Traps - The more damage or effects a trap deals, the more complicated it is. A higher skill rank in Setting Traps allows you to use more deadly devices.

Shield Trick - By using your shield to perform a feint, you land a blow that slips through all your opponent's defenses. The better you are at Shield Trick, the more likely you are to fool your enemy and land a deadly strike.

*Sneaking - When you go into sneak mode, eyes appear over others to let you know how well they see you. A green eye means they have no clue you're there, yellow means they're getting suspicious, red indicates that you've been spotted. The higher your sneaking skill, the less likely you are to be spotted while skulking about.

Stealing - This skill goes hand in hand with Sneaking, since you can only pick pockets while unseen. The more points you put into Stealing, the more likely you are to nab an item off someone without them noticing.

Stone Skin - This represents a natural toughness, and the higher this skill is, the less damage all attacks do against you.

*Strong Hand - Quite simply, this skill makes all your melee attacks deal more damage. The higher your skill, the greater the percentage of damage increase.

Stun - If you're using a blunt weapon and your opponent isn't wearing a helmet, then this skill will allow you to strike them in the head and leave them completely defenseless. The higher your skill, the more likely you are to stun your enemy and the longer they'll be in la la land.

*Swimming - Skill points put into swimming increase your speed across water and allow you to carry more weight while in the wet stuff.

Unseat - You'll need a long reach weapon, such as a spear, to use this skill. A successful unseat knocks mounted opponents off their horse. The better your skill, the more likely you are to bring them to the ground.

Water Magic - This school focuses on healing and summoning. Higher skill levels in Water Magic allow you to cast ever more powerful healing spells and call greater creatures to aid you.

Sounds pretty solid to me. Damn, I just hope we´ll here some news regarding the 360 version soon...

Well all the main cities in the forest part are already marked on the map, not the small villages and dungeons etc. The desert area is however completely undiscovered, but it's also much smaller than the normal area. The Orc territory is as far as I've seen (not that much tbh) without normal villages etc.

IGN got us another "Two Worlds Tuesday" update, this time regarding the combat in 2W; mainly talking about the differences of melee, missile and mounted combat.

They also offer a new one minute trailer. Download on IGN or see it on Gametrailers here.
