As far as i know, the sword is just in the Royal Edition for PC.

Another Tuesday, another IGN update. This time they are detailing the magic system.
There are five schools of magic in the game, but necromancy is not available from the start (it comes with the story, and the player decides if it´ll be available):

I am so ****ing pumped for this game. The day I get the last components to my new rig is the day I get this game. Some of the art is pretty awful but there is some decent looking stuff in there and the animation is very :\ but the online co/op ****ing sold me. This looks like it will beat Hellgate to being the next pseudo Diablo sequel.

The next IGN-2W-Tuesday update is in.
This time they are explaining the stacking and enchanting of weapons.
IGN said:
Imagine, if you will, this typical role-playing game scenario. You're exploring old ruins when you're suddenly attacked by an ogre. You fight a vicious battle and, in the end, the ogre's bloody body falls to the ground. You smile victoriously, then search your fallen foe for some hard-earned loot. There's some gold, a couple potions, and a long sword which happens to be identical to the one you used to slay the ogre. "Great," you think to yourself. "Another friggin' long sword." To make matters worse, you can't even carry it back to sell off because you're already over-encumbered. You slink away empty handed, and wonder why you bother searching felled enemies at all.

In Two Worlds, the above scenario would play out almost identically, except upon discovering the duplicate weapon, you'd be thinking, "Great, another long sword. I can combine that with the one I'm using now, then maybe I'll find another one or some power gems to make it even stronger. I should search around here to see if there's more ogres carrying long swords."

Less than a month to wait! :)

I played the pc version a bit at a friends house (i'm holding out for the 360 version) and from what little I've played I was pleasantly surprised. To be honest it did feel very much like Oblivion, but i'm sure that's just due to limited time with the game. Graphics were nice, but i did notice a lot of glitches and inconsistencies, like houses without doors, chains to a gate kinda disappearing into the wall, small stuff like that. I liked the battlesystem a lot though. It's nothing special, but it worked way better than Oblivion's clunky hack 'n slash system. It should be a nice diversion till the big guns like Bioshock and Mass Effect come out.

To be honest I'm not enjoying the combat that much, it's basically just ramming LMB and casting/using abilities from what I can gather.

Well I've already finished the game a long time now, but I didn't try the online part of the game (since my brother just uninstalled the game). The game has one major issue; you get too strong too fast and it kills the fun.

Online seems pretty awesome. But so far, it's only potential, since none of the other players online seem to speak English :P. Only Germans online. Game must not be doing great elsewhere.

It has been #1 on the PC charts of a couple of european countries - but whatever, let´s wait for the ww 360 release, and the XBL RPG crowd. :)

I find it very strange that only German-speaking people are online then. I spent about an hour trying out servers, and I never found a single English speaking person.

Can anyone give an overview of the multiplayer? How many players does it support? Are there a small, limited number of quests, or can you pretty much explore the whole world that is in the single player? I'd like to hear a lot more about that aspect of the game.

I played it on the PC and I was very disappointed. It's a Oblivion rip off, with horrible voice acting, even worst animations, and a sucky battle system. I really, REALLY, hated the game =P.

I never tried the PC version. But on the english board of the official forum, there are a couple discussions about the mp.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like MP is not all that compelling actually. It says the game can support up to 8 people, but there are a lot of reports of bad lag after 3 people are playing together. Character race in MP is limited to human or elf, but you can be male or female.

Reports are that the MP maps are small and offer 3-5 quests on each map before unlocking another one and moving on to the next section. There are roughly 4 or 5 sections with 3-5 quests each.

One person even commented that you can reach the max level of 30 very quickly.

Hmm...

Let´s get the bad news out of the way first: I got word, that the US release has been postponed another two weeks to the first week of august. The EU release still stands at mid-July.

But now to something completely different... another IGN Tuesday update is in, this time regarding the alchemy system.
For those who want a headstart, here are a couple of recipes:

Wizard's Friend
Ingredients:
2 Lavender shoots
1 Nothern Frostroot

Result:
Permanently increases your Willpower by 1, and your mana points by 20.

Fire Brand
Ingredients:
1 Sulphur
1 Amber
1 Ruby
2 Topaz

Result:
Creates a gem that, when combined with a weapon, will deal fire damage equal to 50% of the weapon damage.

Big Buff Buffet
Ingredients:
1 Wolf Heart
1 Bear Claw
1 Zombie Thyroid
1 Boletus Mushroom

Result:
In addition to healing 20 hit points of damage, this potion increases your Vitality by +16, your Strength by +10, and makes you immune to poison. All these effects, other than the healing, last for five minutes.

Instead of giving another Two Woorlds tuesday update, IGN gave deatils for the contents of the Collectors edition in NA:

"The package will come in a holographic slipcase and includes a slew of the usual bonus items and content, such as…
A map of the game world; a 72-page full-color, pen and paper RPG book; a second disc with bonus music and videos; a web kit with content for fansite creation.
The 360 version will include a 48-hour trial of the Xbox Live Gold service, and the PC will feature exclusive, unlockable in-game items.
For reasons that may always be a mystery, the Xbox 360 version of the Two Worlds Collector's Edition will cost $10 more than the PC ($69.99 and $59.99, respectively)."

Which basically means - no t-shirt for you americans... :P

But the good thing is, no more delays, it´ll be out soon! :D

We hope it will be out soon. But the games had so many date changes its not funny.

ATM it still stands for July 16th in Europe and August 4th in NA. :)
With the official announcement of the CE I don´t think it´ll delay further.

****ing August, though! That's not "soon", it's "soonish".

I'm curious about the highlighted part.

I think we could be surprised by this game: graphics seem ok and animations aren't bad at all. If the RPG structure is well designed we could have a good time with it. Let's wait for the retail version to come in our hands before judging.

It's not often when it's not clear whether or not a game is considered good or not :). I'm still getting it because I really want this kind of game during my upcoming 3-week holiday, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Defcon said:
The game is really bad. Don't get your hopes up.
No it's not, it's not the greatest game ever, but it's certainly not bad either.
It's worth playing, though not worth a ton of hype either.

11 days left... can´t wait!

We hope. Nothing official yet. I wouldn't even trust anyone involved with the game. They have had so many 'official' release date announcments on their site its like a joke we arent getting.

No it's not. So don't get ur hopes down by this guy.

Well if the pc version is anything to go by the game is, in fact, quite bad. Lots of gamebreaking bugs, crap fighting system and nothing feels polished, the whole game is still beta.

IF they can turn it around on the 360 it could at tops be an ok game to kill some time with but comparing it to Oblivion is kind of stupid.

If feels just like an german oblivion copy and Reality Pump being polish and all I guess it's pretty much the same. I have no faith at all that these devs will be able to turn this game around with the limited time from PC release to 360 but if they do props to them.

Just don't get your hopes up.

I'd say unanimity is ridiculously (rightly, inevitably) difficult to find. In fact, I'd say a whole lot of the emotional and (dubiously) intellectual energy expended on GAF directly contradicts this assertion.

I figure this won't be out in Australia for ages - and when it does arrive, it will be in amazingly competitive company (c'mon 360 AAA games). Is the story as substantial / involving as they claimed ? It looks, at any rate, to have slightly cooler monsters than Oblivion.

The bugs and polish are fine now with the 1.4 patch. The fighting system is still far too simplistic and boring for my tastes though. My main problem with the game.

Story is on the same level as that in Oblivion. That is, you won't give a crap about the story. It's just an excuse to do some fightin'.

Tastes are different. Personally I prefer diabloesque hack´n´slay over a ninjagaidenesque combo fighting system in my WRPG´s.

As long as the monsters/enemies/tasks are somewhat cool/interesting/challenging and I get enough freedom to explore a wide variety of landscapes, I´m fine. :)

Still, it´ll be nice to get a MP to try out.

Nice preview by Gaming Target:

- about the MP
And then there's the multiplayer. Don't worry, multiplayer won't be a simple re-hash of the single-player missions, since the multiplayer will take place on different maps from the single player. It'll be a co-op affair in which groups of friends can take on instanced quests on smaller maps than the main campaign. They'll be able together through the quest, and if they don't finish, they can save their progress and pick it up again another time. It looks like players will have more control over the creation of their characters in the multiplayer, with a variety of races and classes to choose from at the outset. And they'll carry these same characters from one map to another, including spells and items that they've earned along the way. It's also worth mentioning that there has been some suggestion that the PC and Xbox 360 players may be able to team up on multiplayer, but no details are available as yet.

All in all, it looks like Two Worlds will offer RPG players a solid single-player experience with some ambitious elements, especially the depth of the storyline and the way the player's should have real effects on the game world. If the combat system looks like it's been simplified a bit to appeal to a wider audience, the depth of the crafting system should make up the difference with the hardcore players. There should be no end to the number of things that players will be able to create with a system this open-ended.

Over here in the UK GAME have exclusive rights to sell the collector's edition. I have it ordered with them. They are stating 20th of July but I never take retailers claims as definate.

My retailer of choice still states July 16th for my pre-order copy of the CE - let´s keep our fingers crossed! :)

Storyline isn't deep, nor does it really affect the gameworld that much. Not more so than in other WRPG's. It is however a very solid single-player experience :). Nice varied world to explore and the storyline is efficient in getting you to most major places in the game. Though I suggest you stray from paths a little to find smaller villages and such for some quests ;).

*weeps out loud*

It has been postponed again, this time to August 21st, dammit. For PAL that is, so I can´t comment on NA (yet?).

though its a bad time to head out with bio-shock and blue dragon rolling too.

I´m optimistic that its qualities will help it to grow some legs... :)

Anyhow, time for some updates:

- IGN had two more "2W-Tuesdays": they gave some info about the reputation system and a "Bastiary". Because some would like tu bully the dragons of the game, here´s some info:
Dragons
Hit Points: 20,000-50,000
Fight with: Lance, Halberd, Earth Magic

Antaloor is home to a variety of these might creatures, all of them deadly. There's the sand dragons of the Drak'ar Desert, the rock dragons of the Badlands, the lava dragons in the volcanic plains of GorGammar, and the one-of-a-kind king of lizards, the White Dragon. Defeating any one of these creatures is a challenge since they'll rip you apart with their teeth and claws at close range, and blast you with their fiery breath from a distance. Your best bet when battling a dragon is to constantly stay on the move, striking and then running to a new position, making the most of your comparatively small size.

- GamesIndustry is talking about 2W being demoed at Comic Con in San Diego from July 26th-29th. Anyone there to check it out?
Learn about Role Playing Games (RPG) and Real Time Strategy (RST) games featuring demo’s from K2 Network (“Sword of the New World”); SouthPeak Interactive (“Two Worlds”); and CDV (“The History Channel® Great Battles of Rome” and “Attack on Pearl Harbor”). Games demoed in the booth will be K2 Network’s “Sword of the New World,” and CDV’s “Tarr Chronicles,” “Sherlock Homes: The Awakened,” and “Attack on Pearl Harbor.”

I completely forgot about this game lately, even though Im really hanging for it. PlayAsia has it listed for August 07 with no more information than that, so Im guess its definitely an August game. Too bad for them Bioshock is also August.... very different market though I guess.
