What's everyone here use for cell service and what's your level of satisfaction with them? I'm currently on Verizon and have no real complaints other than price. That said, I'm considering making a switch if they won't budge on some of their incentives they state are only for people switching over to Verizon.

I never had issues with Verizon, but I had to switch to ATT for work recently, and their services doesn't seem to reach me in buildings quite as well.

Still had 5 or so Zelda limited editions and 8 or pro controllers.

Website says they still have stock, including Neons. It would take me like 30 minutes to drive there though, and I can't see a way to get them to guarantee to hold one for me.

Edit: NM, I called and they said they were sold out.

If anyone needs a switch in Omaha, the Village Pointe Best Buy has extras.

Interesting. I'll probably be there later today, but I doubt they'll have any left. I'm not in a huge rush at the moment considering my gaming has slowed down considerably and I've got Horizon to play for a while. That said, if it's there when I go I may just get it.

Anybody looking to add just a total shitton of blu rays to their collection by tomorrow? I'm trying to find a good reason to avoid working as a taxi driver tomorrow evening.

Holy shit.

I just found the best Buffalo wings in the world, I'm convinced:

Tracks Lounge' Jalapeño Charbuffed!!

I grew up a few blocks from this place, used to get haircuts at Ben's Barber Shop upstairs, still frequent Jonesys Taco House to this day, and bought many a Dr Pepper from the gas station across the street, but I never once thought about going to Trackside Lounge (as it used to be called). On recommendation from a guy at work, we went there for lunch on Friday and I haven't stopped thinking about them since.

They are crispy on the outside, with fried jalapeño pieces generously ladled over the top of the wings.

Seriously, if you love wings, these put everything else I have tried to shame, including Omaha's wing darling Oscar's, which I have never been too impressed by, to be honest.

How do they compare to Watering Hole in lincoln? I'm always looking for good chargrilled wings in Omaha and nothing compares to Watering Hole.

Oscars are good, but not as good.
Brewsky's are decent.
Lemon Drop bar in bellevue/south o has some good ones but haven't tried
Also just learned that Old Mattress Factory does chargrilled if you ask, so I have to try them.

On a food tangent, I tried some deep dish pizza somewhere in west O tonight that was pretty good. My wife broiught me some while I was boardgaming at Sparta, so i don't know the name.

The Watering Hole is excellent, but these are better. Worth the drive for me, and I love out by Zorinsky.

Tanner's are the best as far as I'm concerned. That said, always looking for new places to check out. I've always found Oscars to be wildly inconsistent and generally small.

Yeah, I only really do Brewsky's cause they're close, and they have very big wings. I'll have to try Tanners and Trackers.

I also like Buffalo Wings and Rings, but I just get garlicque bonesless there.

Oh, someone has mentioned Ollie and Hobbes or something as well. In Papillion, I think.

Been a while since I have been to Tanners, but I will give them a shot next week and see. If they are as good as Tracks, I will be ecstatic, since they are only a few minutes from my work.

Man I live like a mile away from tracks and I have never been there. I might have to stop by and try them. I love oscars wings. Watering hole is better but I'm hardly in Lincoln anymore

hmmm, any local places have killer sauces/rubs though? I end up defaulting to BW3 far too often, because I love the desert heat and Asian Zing. Most of the local places I have tried basically have various forms of buffalo sauce and BBQ only. I need my exotic flavors.

Used to drive 45 minutes no joke on 3 am Alvarados runs back in the day on 90th and Maple in 03. Lol, those were the days!

Chumly: get your ass to Tracks soon so you can back my story up. :p

pretty much any rib place in North O will be very good, but the problem is outside the radius of South O nobody really is into super spice. Usually better off making your own..

2am is abelardo's's time

They are good but De Leons is a bit better, basically the same places but De Leons seasons thier food better imo. Try the surf n turf burrito, you can thank me later ;)

How is the polling data? Does Mello actually have a good shot at beating Stothert?

My wife's parents can't stand Stothert, and they have historically leaned conservative (but voted for Obama and Clinton).

to be honest, Omaha mayoral races are always a coin flip due to the low turnout. Everybody always has a chance.

I used to be a bit more a political nerd/junkie and I remember researching PJ Morgan for a paper in school. I think that was the last mayor we would have had as a political mini-dynasty if he hadn't left office due to wanting to take care of his family situation (officially he left to become president of a company). He won with 76% of the vote in 1993 which nobody has even come close to since then.

I'm not in Omaha proper and can't vote in the mayoral election, but from an outside perspective, I have a hard time figuring out what the difference is between Mello and Stothert (as it comes to city issues... obviously they differ on National views outside of the scope of Omaha Mayor).

Either of them looking to dump the wheel tax (probably not)?

wheel tax never going anywhere

every issue for every mayor:

firefighter contract
police contract
streetcar

repeat to infinity

edit: bonus CWS/NCAA negotations for new stadiums once in a while

edit2: random annexation

The streetcar is dumb as hell. Who needs a streetcar to take them from north downtown to 42nd and Farnam. That is like a 10 min drive, even during rush hour. And unless it's going to be free, it's probably just as cheap to take an Uber.

I'm not sure that Stothert has really fucked up enough to get booted. I'm pretty sure that snow response has gotten worse during her tenure, but we also haven't had any killer winters for a few years.

On a side note, anyone up for a omaha GAF Meetup sometime? Something easy like pinball at Beercade or something. I'll go even if it's only a few people.

we'll eventually need light rail. the streetcar is always a stupid toy project meant to look nice during the CWS and no other time.

It's just a running joke now that the streetcar has been a political football for decades now.

I go up to the Beercade on Thursday nights and rock people on Third Strike. Taking a few weeks off since my wife just had a baby. I will post in here next time I go up.

Sounds good man. I can go up there with a few days notice so I can clear it with the wife. I suck at third strike but pretty good at watching and drinking beer.

Edit: as for light rail, it'd be pretty sweet as I hate driving. But unless it can get me a fair amount of places without driving, I don't have a ton of need for it.

The impetus will really come when traffic gets bad enough to care.

I was with you on Stothert not really doing anything terrible and was probably going to stick with her come voting day, but then she attached herself to Scott Walker. Fuck that guy and anyone he supports.

Also, I'm up for a meetup as long as I have a little notice.

I live in Sarpy, and believe me, I would vote Mello if given a chance. I think Stothert is not a great person, but has not been a complete screwup in her job as mayor, with the relatively narrowly defined responsibilities of such.

Does anybody know of any decent workplaces hiring in Omaha that pay at least $15 an hour for new hires and has decent healthcare?

I would consider First National Bank, if you don't mind working on a phone queue. I believe something like "sr specialist customer care" should meet your requirements.

Worked there before, benefits are pretty decent.

Are you good with computers? Try a help desk job in IT. There are quite a few IT jobs here. I work for one. I could PM you a link to an application if you like.

edit: Omaha Steaks or telesales aren't the best way to maintain $15 or more and healthcare. I had to edit this. Lol

Bank jobs are also good, like FNB was mentioned. They're great to climb up the ladder if you enjoy the job.

Applied Underwriters pays decently and Healthcare is 100% covered for employees. Also free prescriptions and $8/day to use in the vending area.

If you are interested, it would be phone work, shoot me a PM and I can ask our in-house recruiters what is open right now.

Thank you everyone.
These suggestions are wonderful
I PMd you back,in case you're interested. If it weirds you or to give me your info to relay to him, you can hit him up directly on LinkedIn or whatever. His name is Robert Atkins, https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-atkins-018197b8/

Tell him you know Eric Jacob and are interested in the PSR job (38k + bonuses, and the aforementioned benefits) or something else.
Definitely will do :)

Just called Sasse to thank him for actually asking about Russia during the Russia hearing yesterday...

I pretty much disagree with him on almost everything, but at least he seems to be taking this issue semi-seriously.
