This looks absolutely awesome.

The big question is "Do I buy it for my NES or my Master System?" .

Playing the demo now, will update with impressions.

EDIT1: This is hard and feels like a NES game. I'm liking what I've played so far, controls incredibly well.

EDIT2: VERY hard. As someone who sucks at NES-level difficulty games, I'm finding it quite the challenge, but I know every time I die it's my fault.

The art in the cutscenes can be a little questionable, but the quick clips of the stages put this over the usual "indie" platformer garbage. Might check this out, especially if I hear good feedback from someone I know of that's buying it to check it out.

I could grab the demo, of course, but if it's a solid game I'd rather just jump right in.

I think the 8-bit indie game is only surpassed in tedium by "Run Into the Screen" genre that's popular on iOS device

but this looks like a legit 8-bit action game, where a lot of 8-bit indie go for something unique or artsy. It has been done before, sure, but it's not like "8-bit action games that are true to the 80s time period" is a closed off genre that's not accepting newcomers.

"8-bit indie" games pretty much never play like classic 2D action games.

Pretty much this. There's a lack of polish/balance that's always missing but swept under the rug with the "Nintendo Hard" excuse. Nintendo Hard only applied to the crappy games and earlier unrefined versions of Megaman1/Zelda1.

Everything else worth playing on NES/Master System was nowhere near as hard except for the occassional Ghouls N Ghosts.

Can't get gamepad to work either. Saturn USB doesn't work, DS3 via MotionInJoy doesn't work and either of them via x360ce results in no improvement. Guess I'll just bind my pad to keyboard buttons instead.

for those of us who are clueless (me) can you point me to a place that says how to do that?

I have a generic USB Dualshock controller and it just works does the full version not have this settings manager?

Xbox 360 controller just works also.

You do not need Motion joy or XboxCE to get a game pad to work.

Like I said, for me, the game did not detect either of my gamepads. Game was pretty damn good and is definitely an authentic NES-like experience.

The demo was nice. 8-bit old school action that controls well for the most part.

In for 5 McDoubles.

And for anybody having issues let me suggest Joy2Key. Awesome free program that lets you bind keys to joystick buttons.
