Overwatch Uprising Event Available Now | Trailer | Info

Does anyone else find it a bit too samey?
I don't like that I've played 4 or 5 rounds of it and seen what it has to offer.

It is enjoyable for what it is.

I got to say, the sound team must've had a blast creating those new Omnic voice samples, as half of them are pretty freaky.

Especially Bastion's revised "charge fanfare".

I finally got the Widow skin I wanted today, in my 25th box.
I was becoming suspicious that the game was holding out on me in regards to that costume, because it knew Widow is my most used/favorite character.

I'm pretty damn sure the game has a system where the less you play, the more rewards you get when you come back. Because I'm 20 boxes in and I've only gotten the Reinhardt epic skin on the 19th. Meanwhile someone I know that pretty much only plays on events has gotten 3 event legendaries in 4 boxes. The three from arcade and one from leveling up.

In my 25 boxes I got...

1. Genji Uprising Legendary
2. Mccree Uprising Legendary
3. Orisa green and white Legendary
4. Zenyatta bird face Legendary
5. Widow Uprising Legendary

I havent played since the Chinese event and I was only playing now for the Widow skin, so Im happy enough.
You may be right about the game giving better boxes to players who dont invest a lot of time. I have heard of this happening in other games too. A guy on gamefaqs the other day, claimed to have gotten zero Legendaries in 25 boxes. I feel bad for him, if thats true.

I'm new to the game, started like 3 weeks ago but I wish PvE was a constant thing and like you I wish there was some more variables in it. Maybe it's something they can work towards in the future?

Did they make Legendary easier? I hope so cause if not man I don't think I can do it with out the glitch.
Nope, couldn't find any difference except maybe for the Torb turret. It feels like it takes less damage, but don't quote me on that. I also happened to have found a group that was willing to stick to a plan.
and stick behind Rein.

ARGGGGGGGG we kept getting so close on the last 4 orisas.

Unless you're a comp team who all main those characters (torb main lul), I don't think you can ignore the 1st orisa to rush down the bastions, theres too much fodder and not nearly enough time.

I can SEE the ending, with all the parts coming together, but like 1 mistake and you're toast, or if you get unlucky on spawns or timings or enemy engagements. Bleh

Its a blast, but jeez

Is there a reason to play the higher difficulty levels other than wanting it to be harder? Does it give a noticeable higher amount of XP?

There's achievements tied to beating the "canon" Uprising (the one with Tracer/Torb/Rein/Mercy) on Hard, Expert and Legendary.

I dont think higher difficulties give any EXP bonus if u beat them (at least I did not see any mention of it in the EXP tally screen), however given you are very likely to spend more time beating them vs Normal difficulty, in a way, you are getting more EXP....(from the time EXP count)

The team I ran it with had a self-described bad Tracer, despite Tracer probably having the hardest role in the mode, the guy did pretty good. The most important thing when rushing the Bastions is that the Rein knows what he's doing and everybody staying behind his shield when it's up. Tracer bombs the Bastion whenever possible and Torb doesn't waste time building a turret.

Agreed on rein but that torb turret can be a lifesaver

As I've played I've been pretty impressed with how well thought out the mode is, in regards to playing to characters strengths while still being stupid challenging.

I can't pin down who has the most important/hardest job, its a split between tracer and reinhardt, and hell even torb can come in clutch at some points. But I think overall if you have a competent rein you can make it to last, but you need a tracer that can poke and distract the turret bastions w/o taking much if any damage if you want to clear the bastions out quickly. And a mercy who knows when to pull out her gat at the right time, cause that headshot damage is insaaaaaaaaaaane

It took like 20 play throughs in a row for our group to beat it on Expert last night, how the shit are we supposed to do Legendary? Haha

The reason behind Torb not building a turret during the Bastion portion is that it's a waste of time. When Rein charges the Bastion, everybody should be shooting at it. Once it reaches the Orisa portion is when smart placement of the turret really helps though.

Didn't think this warranted it's own thread so I'll post it here: http://kotaku.com/blizzard-gives-overwatch-car-wheels-ruins-game-forever-1794427691

Apparenly Overwatch's new PvE mode has become "completely unplayable!" because there has been a car discovered that has wheels on it.

You'd think this is a stupid thing to point out, but there are people that are really trying to ride this as hard as they possibly can. So much so that the conversation has continued onto Reddit.

Of course, you can say that it is everyone acting silly over something irrelevant, but hey, this has been the first "legit" issue that the has had since launch, right? /sarcasm

Pretty obvious they're just joking though... And honestly I find "flying cars only" pretty stupid, considering it's this ONE REALLY campy thing in an otherwise mostly semi-camp/semi-serious aesthetic and tone.

And as far as I can tell, the only fiction I can think of having flying-cars prior is American Exceptionalist crap from the 50's/60's.

And these cars, they don't even fly! They're just lame hovercrafts which probably use far more energy than wheels would.

Yeah for sure. I think Blizzard still has a long way to go with these PVE modes, but they're improving. I thought outside of the whole aesthetic, Junkenstein's Revenge was really boring. Uprising is definitely better, though.

They added a car with wheels? =/

WTF Blizz. Absolutely disgusting.

So no reason for console owners, lol.

60+ hours put in, still cant beat this on legendary on xbox. This is ridiculously difficult. If one person makes any little mistake, its over. Worst event confirmed. And some of this isnt even about skill. The tank bastions at the escort are completely random. Sometimes they will charge at you head on, and other times you wont see them for awhile. And by that time the next one has spawned so u have to fight two at the same time. Its not fun. Its bullshit challenge. Its not fair.

All that is obvious after the first attempt. Why the 60+ hours?

Lmao 60+ hours. But anyway, if you skip the first orisa, you can kill all the base tank bastions before the remainder of the orisas spawn. They will still randomly spawn but the first ones will be dead.

You mean turret bastions. Tank bastions spawn on a timer after the 1st orisa is killed

Most groups I've jump in with agree clearing the turret bastions first is the best route. Came close again, pretty sure the optimal strat is to VERY quickly rotate around killing turret bastions before getting the 1st orisa.

But the tank bastions are an absolute nightmare. Usually you'll find yourself finishing the 2nd orisa with about 2:00 on the clock. Very soon after, you're faced with a new wave of shield bots, the final 2 orisas and their shields, plus a tank bastion. That combo seems unbeatable, I can't see a way to beat that combination of enemies w/o all ults AND somehow no shields being up AND torb's level 2 turret SOMEHOW being alive in the perfect spot. Your tracer will be down before she can dismantle the shield bots shields, and your rein's shield is toast soon after.

The group I played with had 1 person who cleared it already, and we subbed in another random who also cleared it, but with me on torb our dmg output was never ideal

i think you are getting bastions confused. The general strategy everyone agrees on is killing the turret bastions first, all 4 of them. Then going back to the first orisa, then going in the U shape room to take care of the first tank. Then thats when shit hits the fan.

If anybody hasn't played Heroes of the Storm, you can use this referral link to get a 5 day stimpack (increases gold and xp) and Raynor for free (I know he's in the packs, but free is free). You also get Sylvanas for free at level 10.

https://battle.net/recruit/WGNXSHT782

I used a friend's link to get into HotS just for the stimpack so I figured I'd share the love with GAF if anybody else is looking to get into HotS just for the overwatch stuff. I'll be playing games for the next month for the loot so hit me up if you're looking to group. If you play with 5 people together you get an XP bonus so it's best to roll in groups of 5 if you can. :)

Err right sorry turret bastions.

Pretty disappointing that the higher difficulties are just enemies with more HP and hit harder. Would've been better if they had different enemy placements or had more tougher enemies in some spots to mix things up.
