Nintendo’s ‘Wii Fit’ workout tops the All Formats Chart for a fifth consecutive week despite shedding 10% of sales and competition from new Warner Brothers title ‘F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin’ which debuts at No2. However, ‘F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin’ does manage to reach No1 in the Xbox 360 and PS3 Full Price charts and No2 on PC.

It is Warner’s 2nd major multi-format video game release after ‘Lego Batman’, which also had to settle for 2nd place when it was launched in October last year (behind FIFA 09, but one place above Wii Fit). Released across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, the critically acclaimed sequel becomes the fastest selling in the series with 50% of sales on Xbox 360, 31% on PS3 and 19% on PC. ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ (+6%) slips one place to No4 but moves ahead of ‘FIFA 09’ which is down 3 places to No5.

Nintendo still dominate the All Formats Top 10 with 5 games, including a strong second week for ‘Mystery Case Files: Millionheir’ up from No4 to No3 - sales up 25%. Out of the remaining Nintendo Top 10 regulars ‘Mario Kart Wii’ and ‘Wii Play’ are both non-movers at No’s 6 and 7 respectively, but ‘Professor Layton’ (-24%) suffers in the wake of possible heir apparent Mystery Case Files: Millionheir’s success – down from No5 to No9. Nintendo’s DS/Wii formats are even more dominant in the All Formats Top 10 thanks to another fitness game on Wii, the retailer promoted ‘My Fitness Coach’ from Ubisoft, up from No17 to No8. ‘Mario & Sonic’ (+22%) remains in the Top 10 despite a drop of one place to No10, meaning that it now consists of 7 Nintendo format exclusive games. Outside the Top 10 there are new entries for D3P’s ‘Ben 10: Alien Force’ at No13 and Sega’s Wii gun game ‘The House of the Dead: Overkill’ at No15.

How much sold Wii Fit worldwide? The way it refuses to skip the top spot almost everywhere in the world is scary.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Nice HotD position - those kind of games can sell well on Wii.

HotD launches right between the PS3 and 360 version of FEAR2. Thats not bad I guess?

HoTD 2/3 Returns I think debuted around the same area and stayed for a few weeks (I think they got to at least 100k) so if HoTD Overkill can continue the trend I think it will do quite well

Let's see if it follows the usual Wii/DS pattern and has a stronger second week or if it is indeed too hardcore to do so. :I
It's an awesome game, so if the people who got it spread the word it could do quite well.

We should rename these threads to "doicare shits up the PAL charts thread week 07, 2009", cause that's basically what every thread devolves to.

Wii Fit is a monster waaaaay beyond any reasonable expectations.

Good to see Chrono Trigger sticking at No.10 on the DS Full Price Top 40, especially considering how the No.8 DS game cracked the Top 40 Individual Format (Units) chart. S-E Europe's strongest performing DS game since FFXII: RW!

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
If Nintendo got Layton out in PAL Land sooner maybe it would have had more time to breath before Millionheir came out.

Whoa, you'd expect the 360 version to chart..

WaW 360 charted higher than PS3.

Is that MillionHeir game any good? I've not heard a single thing about it.

Awesome that House of the Dead: Overkill debuted at quite a high rank. Hopefully it stays up there, and I'm thinking with its humour and quirky presentation (not to mention Zombie-themed Wii games being unusually popular) it could manage it.

Ah the 360 version has been charting in the past few weeks, while the PS3 didn't. Guess I just didn't pay much attention to it. Did it receive a price drop?

I know. I thought this was the first time it appeared in awhile and was surprised to see the PS3 version charting and not the 360 version.

The game sounds more like Hotel Dusk then Professor Layton, based around investigating and detective work and not puzzle solving, but it's riding on the popularity of Professor Layton due to the release date. I might pick this up if I hear more positive things about it, but metacritic isn't treating it so well so far (66 based on 20 reviews). Layton and Hotel Dusk got 85 and 78 respectively and I enjoyed those games.

Why would this surprise anyone? Doesn't it use the balance board?

Impressive launches for FEAR 2 and HOTD:O.

And GTAIV now officially has the longest legs of any HD game released in 08, thanks to the expansion.

I doubt this is the reason, anyone picking up the game at this point would be new owners. I'd put it down to one of those rare occasions where more new PS3 owners were interested in the game this week. You rarely ever see PS3 multiplatform games perform better then the 360 versions, if the 360 version debuts higher.

Maybe 360 owners have new games to buy and ps3 owners have less options so they need to buy a year old game...

zing.........? I dunno its possible :p

strange how ps3 has become a shooter console though... its almost more like the original xbox than the 360

I've played that Millionheir game and it is absolutely nothing like Hotel Dusk. I wish it was like that!

It's more like those Where's Waldo books. They give you a list of 15 or so things and you have to find them in a room filled with junk.
When you find them all then you see a bit more of the story and then you do it all over again and on and on.

My Fitness Coach DOES NOT use the Balance Board, it's basically like a journal for your workouts. It was also in the Top 20 in the US as people are using it to keep track of things in addition to Wii Fit

5x? so cod4 sold approx. 2.500.000 in uk (xbox360)? wow impressive...

spwolf said:
5x? nice... i didnt realize it was so much... source?
It's not accurate. In the UK COD4 is platinum on the PS3 and double platinum on the 360.

So that's 600k - 999k for the 360 version and 300k - 599k for the PS3 version. At the absolute max it would be about 3x.

Wait, Deadly Creatures came out? I didn't even see it when I went to pick up Castlevania: OoE and HotD: Overkill.

If it did come out that must've been some really criminally small shipment.

This combined to the upper comment makes things seem fishy : are we talking about an undershipment of a high profile third-party game on Wii again ?

Haven't seen it in Stockholm either.
