EA score a hat-trick with the reboot of ‘FIFA Street’ giving them their third new release in a row to go straight in at No1 (‘Mass Effect 3’ last week and ‘SSX’ the week before). It’s been a long wait with just over four years since the previous title in the series, ‘FIFA Street 3’, and the reboot has got off to a great start outperforming all the other FIFA Street’s opening week’s sales. EA can also claim to hold all Top 4 positions this week, a feat they’ve only achieved before in weeks 48 and 49 2003 (with FIFA 2004, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun and Need for Speed: Underground).

Last week’s No1 and No2 both shuffle down a place with ‘Mass Effect 3’ (-74%) now at No2 and ‘SSX’ (-60%) at No3, followed by EA’s other football franchise, ‘FIFA 12’ (-21%), holding firm at No4.

No5 is also a non-mover with Nintendo’s ‘Mario Party 9’ (-35%) and it’s Mario again at No6 this time teaming up with Sonic in Sega’s ‘Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games’ (-10%).

Bethesda’s ‘Rage’ (+47%) storms up the chart from No20 to No7 with 505 Games’ ‘Zumba Fitness’ (+15%) also making headway up from No10 to No8.

Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed: Revelations’ (+1%) makes it a third week at No9 and Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ (-4%) rounds off the Top 10 at No10.

Also new this week is another reboot of a franchise with Sony’s PS3 ‘Twisted Metal’ debuting at No12.

Why are these charts still referred to as "PAL charts" ?

PAL and NTSC are both SD dying formats.

Why do we still use 'first world' and 'third world'?

Some shit just sticks. It's the easy short-hand for the regions covered (although France should get its own 'SECAM Sales' topic).

I think we say developing and developed now... although that actually still has a somewhat pejorative hint to it.

I wonder if TM will do well enough in Individual Formats to get some idea of its numbers.

As a franchise, Twisted Metal is to the U.S. what Gran Turismo is to Europe - that one region loves it, no one else really gives a shit about it!

Also remember that the game is cut in Europe, since it's a rather hardcore franchise, the fans will know and might consider importing.

Not to mention that it is stupid to delay a multiplayer centric game in one territory anyway, it makes getting into the game needlessly hard for the region that is late to the party.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
Wow at the ME3 CE for 360 outselling the regular version on PS3 in France.
In France being the surprising part.

Forza 4 and Uncharted 3 seem to be almost attached in the UK. Go up and down together.

Cut in Germany you mean?

It was a 360 series first, so it's not that surprising.

Last weeks new releases:

FIFA Street takes no.1 and 2 in the individuals.

Twisted Metal hit no.7 in the individuals and no.3 in the PS3 FP chart.

Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard / Firestorm enter at no.15 and 17 respectively on the DS FP chart.

Yazuka: Dead Souls debuts at no.21 in the PS3 FP chart.

Birds of Steel bombed. Not on any chart. Thank you, Konami.

Bit.Trip Complete also bombed. Not even on the Wii chart.

Bit.Trip Saga MIA.

Blades of Time is another Konami DOA release. Nowhere to be found.

Hmm... is this right?

Last week's thread had ME3 at >160K

ME3 almost 4x SSX opening week.
=>
SSX > 40K?

SSX 2nd week > 20K
SSX 3rd week > 8K

Last weeks new releases:
It's sad what happened to Bit.Trip but it really isn't surprising. I was looking for Saga on release date and Game/Gamestation knew nothing about it (It was on their website at one point then vanished so the likely answer is that they weren't stocking it like most new releases but there was no announcement about Game not stocking it from anywhere including the publisher as far as I know) and I couldn't find either of them in HMV or any of the game selling supermarkets. In the end I had to get it from Grainger Games but if I was living in a town without one of them I would be unable to get it unless I ordered online.
It's the not so popular games like this that are going to suffer most when Game finally shuts.

Eurogamer made it sound like the TM cuts were across all of SCEE:

Posting on NeoGAF, Jaffe explained that the hold up is down to "localisation taking just a touch longer" than expected.

Sony hasn't confirmed a new date, but Jaffe noted that he'd "heard" it will now release on 1st March. He also confirmed that a few cuts have been made to the European release, at the request of SCEE, mostly to the game's cut scenes.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
^ Similar to that, Skyrim is at 14 on the All Formats, but only appears at 38 on the Individual Formats.

Suggests that everything is super close together (and low).

Had a look at last week's thread.

Applying this week's drops to BKK's upper limits from that thread everything below Mario Party 9 on the All Formats is less than 8.5K.

Below Mario and Sonic is less than 7.3K.

Yep. Big publishers with big titles - like EA, Nintendo, Capcom etc. - are going to be largely unaffected by GAME's demise as they have the clout to get their games in supermarkets etc., but smaller publishers will be hoping online retail will make up for the loss of such a major outlet.

Well seeing as the 3DS release cost upwards of £30 online and the superior wii release could be bought for around £15, I fully understand why the 3DS version of Bit.Trip completely failed.

The fact is that even the Wii version is out of its top 30.
It seems that FIFA could become the game to buy with Vita intead of Uncharted, since this week is the best selling game for the platform, with a smaller drop than the ohter two games in chart.

Gamasutra.
I've been trying to get my full set of data for UK from 2008 to the present like I want it. However, I don't understand how "months" were defined a few years ago. If anyone has data sets of their own, would you agree with these figures for 2008?
Code:
	Revenue	Units
Jan	£163.10	7206.325
Feb	£124.60	5197.415
Mar	£161.30	6783.305
Apr	£158.50	5575.62
May	£102.40	4155.232
Jun	£141.40	5578.832
Jul	£107.40	4827.876
Aug	£106.70	4814.866
Sep	£157.20	6123.747
Oct	£157.80	6124.245
Nov	£292.90	11797.904
Dec	£476.68	21779.837
The data was originally given as weekly data, but when I look up the MCV report on (e.g.) Feb 2009 sales, the relative changes they cite from 2008 to 2009 don't match up with mine at all. I figure I either have bad data (even though it's all gleaned from MCV) or my month boundaries are somehow different from theirs...

GAME was never a big shops for smaller games anyway.

It's not particularly commonplace for 360 games to appear in France's charts, let alone above the PS3 versions. 360 just doesn't have a particularly large install base there.
I don't think the install base for the 360 in France/Germany is all that small (despite being in 3rd), but the software sales are generally pretty bad.

Does anyone have end of 2011 ltd numbers for some of these countries?

No, but it at least gave those smaller games some exposure. With GAME going (going, gone) do you think there's much of a chance of non-specialist retailers picking up the slack and starting to stock some of the B- and C-tier titles? Or do you think they'll just stick to what they do just now and play it safe, leaving the rest to the mercies of online retail?

Being accustomed to the Media Create charts where portable consoles systems dominate the market, every time I enter here I got depressed.

Resident Evil: Revelations out of the 3DS top 10, Rayman 3D is still there xD

It looks like Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard / Firestorm did it very poorly compared to Inazuma Eleven.

They'll stick to what they know. Plus they only have limited shelf space.

PC and VITA need to figure out some sort of letter trade so they can conform to the three-alphanumeric acronym setup of the other systems.

Unit 13 doing around 2.5K. Makes the whole handheld situation in the UK seem even shitter.

Admittedly it is a new IP and it wasn't marketed at all (or for what I could see) but it seemed like something that would be a good fit for Vita owners.

Obv CoD will do mega sales but still :(

Amazon UK is listing their own stock as temporarily out, and they're just selling it from third party sellers. Don't know how much that means, but it should mean they didn't buy many copies in the first place.

Will ask again like I asked in an older PAL thread...what the fuck is up with Rage?

Did it only just release there or something?

I love eye game, and I own the borked PS3 version, so that makes the position of the 2 versions even more puzzling than the fact that the game is selling so well.
