My only theory with RAGE - People flooding in to GAME and gamestation for a bargain, seeing RAGE for around a tenner, thing "great closing down sale here lads" and buy it, not knowing it's been that price for a while...

RAGE has been £10 everywhere since just before Christmas. It's a pretty high profile game so I guess it's a no-brainer for a lot of people.

On the other hand, it's yet another signal of Bethesda's power to over-ship absolutely everything.

Why are people still surprised the 360 version of ME3 is above in every country? I bought 2 360 games in the last 20 months since I had to send it to MS to get it repaired and those two were ME2 and ME3. And guess why. The whole save import thing.

I've been trying to get my full set of data for UK from 2008 to the present like I want it. However, I don't understand how "months" were defined a few years ago. If anyone has data sets of their own, would you agree with these figures for 2008?
Code:
	Revenue	Units
Jan	£163.10	7206.325
Feb	£124.60	5197.415
Mar	£161.30	6783.305
Apr	£158.50	5575.62
May	£102.40	4155.232
Jun	£141.40	5578.832
Jul	£107.40	4827.876
Aug	£106.70	4814.866
Sep	£157.20	6123.747
Oct	£157.80	6124.245
Nov	£292.90	11797.904
Dec	£476.68	21779.837
The data was originally given as weekly data, but when I look up the MCV report on (e.g.) Feb 2009 sales, the relative changes they cite from 2008 to 2009 don't match up with mine at all. I figure I either have bad data (even though it's all gleaned from MCV) or my month boundaries are somehow different from theirs...

Same as NPD; 4-4-5, but 2009 was a 53 week year, I think December 2009 was 6 weeks. Previous 53 week years were 2004 and 1998.

I have 2008 running from 30th Dec 2007 - 27th Dec 2008. 2009 running from 28th Dec 2008 - 2nd Jan 2010.

Also remember that the game is cut in Europe, since it's a rather hardcore franchise, the fans will know and might consider importing.

Not to mention that it is stupid to delay a multiplayer centric game in one territory anyway, it makes getting into the game needlessly hard for the region that is late to the party.

Nah, I don't think tha's it, it is just us Europeans do not care for the franchise. No idea why it sells so well in america

Old examples from before 2009, but December was a six week month in 2004. Q4 was a 14 week quarter in 1998 and 2004. So yeah, December should be a six week month in 53 week years (and Q4 a 14 week quarter).
Thanks. Looks like I have my 2008 off by a week. It kind of rubs me wrong to see January start on 28 December.

This also isn't how it is done in the U.S. with NPD, which makes for some sort of weird dissonance in my head. In 2007 we had a 5-week January and we'll have another one in 2013. Otherwise, it's the usual 4-4-5. :p

Gamasutra.
Well, Chart-Track follows the International Standard, but as is often the case US likes to be different and have their own system which NPD uses.
Yeah. I asked the folks at NPD about when the next 5-week January would happen and their first response was kind of like "What is a 5-week January?" Then when they checked, they said they follow some U.S. retail board calendar, and seemed kind of amused that I even knew about it or cared...

Not actually that important
It's official, despite heavy tv advertising RE:R totally bombed in Italy. :(
Curious to see how Inazuma 2 will do, since the first one was a bestseller here.

Uncharted already outselling console versions of Mass Effect 3 in Germany. Pretty impressive. It really has nice legs in Europe as you can see it in pretty much every chart.

PC and VITA need to figure out some sort of letter trade so they can conform to the three-alphanumeric acronym setup of the other systems.

How about this?

[360] - Xbox 360
[3DS] - Nintendo 3DS
[NDS] - Nintendo DS
[PCC] - PC Points Card
[PCD] - PC Disc
[PS2] - Playstation 2
[PS3] - Playstation 3
[PSN] - Playstation Network Card
[PSP] - Playstation Portable
[PSV] - Playstation Vita
[WII] - Nintendo Wii
[XBL] - Xbox Live Card

I hope Nintendo change the name of Wii-U, it doesn't conform to the "three-alphanumeric acronym setup" well at all :p

[NWU] - Nintendo Wii-U?
[WIU] ?
[W-U] ?

What should we abbreviate Wii-U to?

The mainline ones chart better, but this is why they'll probably never bother to release Kenzan.

Yakuza 3 and 4 had the benefit of demos, so it helps build up a little hype. Dead Souls had nothing and no-one even knew it was coming out. But yeah, this is definitely going to kill any chance of Kenzan or Black Panther 1/2 being localised, which really sucks.

Yikes. SEGA is a lovely publisher for still releasing these games.

What sucks is that as a small release with english subs only Kenzan would do much better. I hate that this fucking spin-off which as nothing to do with the series has killed any chance the best spin-off ever won't see a release.
Kenzan is more interesting to me than even the main series.
I mean, fucking Dinasty Warriors games get a release here, I wish Rising Star would publish it as a £24,99 (so £18 online) budget release :/

Resident Evil's mammoth year continues this week with Capcom's Operation Raccoon City.

The multiplayer-focused shooter is the second of three Resi titles arriving on shelves this week, with Resident Evil 6 to follow in November. Operation Raccoon City sees players attempting to contain the zombie hordes in fans' favourite ruined metropolis.

Meanwhile 3DS owners can pick up Nintendo's Kid Icarus: Uprising, a fast-paced fantasy shooter that marks the long awaited return of the NES franchise. Another new Nintendo release is Wii title PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond.

Also out this week is Total War: Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai (Sega), Ninja Gaiden 3 (Tecmo Koei) and We Sing Pop (Nordic Games).

After being the only country last week where "Ski-doo Snowmobile Challenge" charted, Norway is also the only country this week where "Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2012" shows up. Someone really needs to release a Biathlon game for Norway ...

Switzerland is the only country where "Saint Seiya: Sanctuary Battle" shows up, and also the only country where "FIFA Street" doesn't, so I guess it might not have been released there yet for some reason.

Gamasutra.
Sorry, I know I'm always about a week behind... I was looking at BKK's post on the Nordic game industry:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=36047537&postcount=123

The figures don't match the report I have on 2010, so what to make of that?

For example, new report says total €478 million for 2011, which is down 9.04% from 2010. That means 2010 was €525.5 million. But the report from last year says €522 million...

More importantly, the individual totals are off by more. For example, new report says €167.9 million in Sweden for 2011, down by 12.211% from 2010. That would put 2010 at over €191 million, but the old report says €203 million. That's a differential of €12 million...

Anyone got thoughts on this?

‘FIFA Street’ (-44%) holds on to top spot in the Entertainment Software Top 40 this week, helping publisher EA score nine All Format No1s so far this year across 5 different titles. It is an improvement on this time last year, when they managed five weeks at No1 across 4 different titles. Capcom breaks up EA’s monopoly of the Top 4, debuting at No2 with ‘Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City’ – 60% of sales were on XB360 and 40% on PS3 (3 years ago RE5 launched with 55% on XB360 and 45% on PS3). EA has to settle for the next 3 positions with previous chart toppers ‘Mass Effect 3’ (-55%) down one place to No3, ‘FIFA 12’ (+8%) a non-mover at No4 and ‘SSX’ (-31%) slipping 2 places to No5. ‘Modern Warfare 3’ (+12%) is still battling it out in the Top 10, climbing 4 places to No6, while Nintendo’s new 3DS title ‘Kid Icarus: Uprising’ swoops in at No7, re-igniting a franchise dormant for over 20 years. It’s Nintendo’s only Top 10 title this week as ‘Mario Party 9’ (-39%) drops out of the Top 10, down from No5 to No13. Price promotion lifts ‘Battlefield 3’ (+31%) and ‘F1 2011’ (+19%) back into the Top 10 at No’s 8 and 9 respectively, while Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games’ (-23%) falls 4 places to No10. There are only 2 other Top 40 newcomers this week – ‘Shogun 2: Total War – Fall of the Samurai’ at No17 and ‘Ninja Gaiden 3’ at No19.
