‘Bioshock Infinite’ debuts at the top of our All Formats chart this week with the Tuesday release becoming the second biggest launch of the year.

In taking top spot it also sets a record as the biggest week 1 for a Bioshock title with almost nine thousand more sales than predecessor ‘Bioshock 2’ which took the No1 back in Week 6 2010. Despite its success it’s unable to become 2013’s biggest release with Square Enix’s ‘Tomb Raider’ (+45%) in No2 still holding the honour following its release in Week 10. ‘Tomb Raider also sees a strong boost in sales this week with price promotions ensuring it easily holds second place ahead of several other new releases.

It means ‘Gears of War: Judgment’ (-63%) slips to No3 above EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ (+86%) which benefits from strong sales to retain the No4 spot. There’s a debut at No5 for developer Next Level Games and ‘Luigi’s Mansion 2’ landing on 3DS. It’s the second ghost hunting outing for Mario’s little brother following on from ‘Luigi’s Mansion’ which landed at No3 on Nintendo’s Game Cube back in Week 18 2002. The first of two new entries for EA in our Top 10 sees ‘Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel’ land at No6 with just over a hundred sales separating it from ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (+67%) in No7. At No8 ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14’ is the second of EA’s new releases and along with ‘Crysis 3’ (+64%) at No10 it means they have four titles in our Top 10 this week.

Elsewhere in the chart Wii U exclusive and developer Traveller’s Tales new title ‘Lego City Undercover’ lands at No12. There’s also the return of Sly Cooper with developer Sanzaru Games bringing the light fingered raccoon back for his 4th outing in ‘Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time’ at No31 for PS3 and Vita.

Good showing from Lego City. Everyone of my friends who took advantage of the amazing HMV deal bought Lego City this week.

I'm still waiting on mine. Damn you Zavvi! Damn you straight to hell.

When do we find out about console sales? Eager to see how Wii U did in UK after MH, Lego City and HMV price cut.

I don't think that £199 did much help at all. Slight boost last week but Nintendo Land is absent from the charts this week, meaning it's dropped a fair bit. MH3U dropped off completely, at 4th in Wii U chart. Back to normal, really. That 125% was made out to be a big boost, but it really wasn't.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
MH did not last too much, lol

As said in the other thread

I'm fairly sure it's due to shortages.
On Amazon, 3DS SKU was priced at 31.99 initially, Wii U one at 39.99. Now they're respectively 35 and 49.91, sold directly from Amazon.
Moreover, looking at European 3DS eShop Charts at least, it charted in 3rd places as highest result in most of them, but in UK it obtained to be even first for some days in the Current Releases Charts, even after Luigi's Mansion 2 released. Yesterday it was 2nd, only outsold by Luigi itself. Reaching such a big achievement for a title that isn't that popular in UK, especially compared to countries much more Nintendo friendly like France and especially Germany means that something not as big, but similar to Fire Emblem in US is happening.

On a serious note: I defended the performance of the game in UK, but this week showed that the game tanked horribly. We'll see if it will chart again but I'm doubtful at this point.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Not surprised about Nintendoland not charting. According to HUKD commenters the £199 HMV Wii U deal is now over, and they're selling it at normal price again.

Pleased to see Lego City doing well though.

Amazon increasing prices instead than...cutting them as always are a big signal there are problems in getting copies, especially combined with the eShop chart position.

The problem with the £199 deal is there was hardly anywhere you could get it, I think someone else said there are only 116 hmv shops left in the whole country now and not all of them had any stock anyway

MH was in short supply on 3DS from the day after launch. I had to buy it from the eShop. I'm guessing the same happened with the Wii U version not long after.
eShop sales for both are probably pretty good, it's the type of game I can imagine of people being willing to pay the premium for. Expect exactly the same with Fire Emblem.

That probably doesn't help matters. Shame other retailers didn't price match it. It'll happen again, though, I'm sure.

With this talk of eShop sales, isn't it about time we got sales data for digital versions? Surely the retail charts become less significant the longer we go on, even if they do probably still give a good indication right now. But things are changing, right?

This is what happened with me at the local HMV; I was going to grab one for Lego City but there was no stock available.

Bioshock with another UK best in franchise launch. Adds more doubt to the blanket "UK market in decline" excuse that people use when a game or system tanks.

A new Army of Two came out? What.

Sly didn't even come close to repeating its NA success, ouch.

I honestly never expected GoW and GeoW to "bomb" like this. Sony and MS better hope that NA welcomed those titles a lot better.

great debut for Bioshock, I wonder if anyone can extrapolate those numbers with that info?
Pleased to see Lego City too

Glad Army of Two bombed.

Not mainline entries, While they'll care about the less than impressive showing, it's not a sign of series fatigue nor is anything to worry about.

Exclusive posters if ordered direct from Ghostlight store which isn't tracked and where it's currently sold out. So it probably didn't do too bad for Ghostlight.

It never has, this is the first ever one to chart in the UK.

ah ok not so negative yet, unless i add the its a holiday week everything sells better so it should've done better spin lol

Didn't BS2 release just before a bank holiday weekend that led into half term? Or maybe it was the one after. There was definitely a bank holiday weekend followed by a half term very close to its release.

looks like it may have released near the half term school holiday but nowhere near a bank holiday
