The Trion Worlds title ‘Defiance’ falls one place to No4, showing strongest sales on Xbox 360 (75%) ahead of PS3 (20%) and PC (5%). There’s little change in the lower half of the Top 10 with ‘Luigi’s Mansion 2’ (-35%) a non-mover at No5 and ‘Black Ops II’ (-35%) and ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (-30%) both up one place to No’s 6 and 7 respectively. ‘Gears of War: Judgment’ (-50%) slips 2 places to No8, but older titles ‘Lego Batman 2’ (-17%) and ‘Far Cry 3’ (-21%) sneak back into the Top 10, up to No’s 9 and 10 respectively. Lego Batman 2’s last appearance in the Top 10 was back in week 39 2012.

Bioshock Infinite 1st Week - 130k
Bioshock Infinite 2nd Week - 32.5k (-75%)
Bioshock Infinite 3rd Week - 18.2k (-44%)

Tomb Raider Week 15 - 15.7k (just over 2.500 unites separating it from BI this week).

Later, reverse calculation for Tomb Raider!

Are gamers just not giving 2 shits about buying video games anymore, or what's going on?

I would've of thought Infinite, considering it's incredible breadth of quality, would be selling more than it is currently :/

4 out of Top 5 are 360 games
6 out of Top 10 are 360 games
10 out of Top 20 are 360 games

Didn't realise the UK market leaned so heavily towards the 360.

It's already been four weeks since New Super Mario Bros. 2 last charted.

Last Mario Kart 7 appearance in the Top 40 was 8 weeks ago.

6 out of Top 10 are 360 games
10 out of Top 20 are 360 games

You mustn't have paid much attention to these charts before :p

Seems Monster Hunter didn't get restocked quickly enough.

Poor LEGO City. It deserves a larger audience.

Given your attitude, I don't know if you're seriously sad for this or not :lol
Seriously, it has still major problems. At least the 3DS version: out of stock on Amazon, available but at 39.99 on Game.co.uk (instead of 31.99, its real price), and suddenly out of 3DS specific top 10.
But the Wii U seems to have a little less problems: same situation on Game.co.uk, but it's available at its normal price on Amazon. And it actually went up from 7th to 5th in Wii U Specific top 10.

At least Lego City Undercover is the only Wii U game that has managed to stay in the charts during 3 consecutive weeks since its release xD

Well, actually Nintendo Land did that too, but the vast majority of its sales came from Wii U Premium model.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Stll a pathetic display of 3DS titles - LM2 is selling but it seems like it killed other evergreen games who appeared on the chart before - no 3Dland,MK7 or NSMB 2.....yikes.

Actually, this week NSMB2 gained 5 positions in the Value Chart, and NSMB2 should be without cuts of any kind. Seriously, the Value Chart is so different: there Lego City is 18th :lol

EDIT: Do we have infos about debuts for past Fire Emblem titles? I searched days ago for the Wii one, and saw it didn't even chart in Wii specific charts. I'll search for the DS one. If that's the case, get ready because FE:A will destroy past Fire Emblem titles' debuts.

Amazing how the DS and 3DS with the exception of LM2 have been completely obliterated from these charts. Time was when they'd be full of handheld games.

Aye, there's no place for handhelds on these fair isles. 3DS ain't got shit on Candy Crush Saga.

Oddly though, the Vita has its highest proportional market share here IIRC.

Given your attitude, I don't know if you're seriously sad for this or not :lol

Eh, I'm not a fan of MH games, but I respect their ability to sell. Apparently not in the UK though!

I wonder what the stock situation looks like. It's better than it was presumably, but I noticed it was out of stock in the GAME that I popped into on Saturday.

Nintendo always show better on the value charts because their games never drop in price.

Yes, Smoky is right. Vita has its relatively best European market in UK: still abysmal low numbers, but not as bad as elsewhere, and some games did better at debut in UK compared to other countries (example: MGS HD Collection or Persona, titles we saw in top 40). On the contrary, 3DS has its worst market by far in UK. Not so much hardware wise (last year it was just behind 360, higher than PS3. And that surprised the shit out of me, given the charts LOL), but software wise. It's a radically different situation compared to the rest of mainland Europe and even US: as an example, in UK Angry Birds Trilogy on 3DS sold far, far lower than on 360 and PS3, while in US it's the best selling SKU with almost 500k sold.

And given the UK situation, seeing Luigi's Mansion 2 doing so well is very encouraging for its performance in other countries, especially US.
If Nintendo decides to stock it well again everywhere and not just on Amazon and random stores :lol

The UK has pretty much gone to smartphones for there handheld fix and I aint sure there is anything which can reverse that.

Thanks for that chart. It's pretty much what everyone who keeps up with this was expecting but it's a great way to get the overall picture on market shares in a matter of seconds.

Damn, there isn't a sinlge 360 game on Spain's 2012 top 20, not even Fifa and CoD made it...

Pretty sad week. Publishers stacked the everloving crap out of March and nothing truly big in April.

Well it was the end of the quarter. The only things that I can see making a dent next are Injustice, Metro and The Las of Us.

Yep it's a done deal at this point.

It would appear so wouldn't it?

Like the Elves, the time of the dedicated handheld is over.

Yeah, at this point the trend is too clear, and I don't know what will reverse it. I don't know what could make UK think again about completely abandoning handheld consoles. Certainly lower software prices, but that's a given. Other ideas?

Nothing will reverse this trend. It's a completely logical progression. Dedicated handhelds will become a niche outside of Japan.

Pokemon, basically.

It's just about the only handheld IP we seem to care about in this country. The PSP survived on the Sony crowd wanting portable versions of console games they like, but that's about it.

Unless we have a huge movement (like say, a Nintendo phone) - the handheld market isn't going to do much. In fact it might end up dying entirely in a generation or two.

I don't even know what that is. And i spend half my day here.
Whatever it is, i don't rate its chances.

Then you are not paying attention. It's the DC fighting game by the Mortal Kombat guys.

I think it will do fine. Warner is pretty good with their marketing and Netherrealm should deliver a quality product.

I can almost completely understand this line of thought for UK, but for the rest of the world it's a giant hyperbole at its best, especially in mainland Europe.

Its going to happen in Japan too, actually its already happening, its just going to be a slower process.

I think it will happen mainland EU as well just slower.

Unless Nintendo games become irrilevant in every country, it won't happen. Reduced sales overall for sure, but it won't happen so soon. Unless Nintendo goes with the hybrid next gen.

Phones are killing it because there's always a new 'next best thing' and that 'next best thing' is usually connected to, or propagated through, Facebook (or other social media). Handheld software comes too slowly, costs too much and doesn't offer the kind of social media connectivity that 'the masses' are looking for. The F2P tide might well be stopped by the OFT though, so we'll see what kind of effect that has on things.

I can't see dedicated handhelds 'growing' again though. They're just going to seem more irrelevant as time goes on.

It's happening in Japan? The general consensus seems to be that the country has gone handheld crazy over the past few years. The 3DS tops the sales charts every week almost without fail, and often by a massive distance. The Vita now seems to be taking 2nd place as well.

I really hope Lego City benefits from some Nintendo ever-green type sales in the long run, when the userbase is bigger... to see it drop off now and not continue to get sales it deserves would be a real shame

It's good to see Bioshock so well received

As handhelds get more powerful the price just works against it.

Just consider the price of the 3DS here in the UK. £133 with £35/40 MSRP games. Or consider from a parent's point of view.

£150 will get you a Wii, Mario Kart and an extra controller that 2 children can play together in front of a TV.

The equivalent cost for two 3DS's and a copy each of Mario Kart 7 would set a parent back around £326.

The whole market is just working against it.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I have to agree that next handhelds need to be more socialized. This doesn't mean they need to be online only like 720 was in the first rumour, neither that every game has to have social integration that implies DRM or anything like that, but they need to have connection with social medias, a pretty good connection: for example, possibility of linking Facebook account with NiN account, so accomplishments / Miiverse posts can be posted on Facebook too. This is another way to start advertising for products, by simple word of mouth. Miiverse on Wii U is a big step in the right direction, as well as PS4 social features: next handhelds need them more connected with social medias and more improved.
