‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’ (-42%) hits a hat-trick of weeks at No1 despite strong competition from 3 new games making their debuts in the Top 5 this week.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 title ‘Alan Wake’ enters at No2, only 1,000 sales behind FIFA. First announced back in 2005 and developed by Finnish Max Payne developer Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake also tops the Xbox 360 chart almost 12,000 sales ahead of Capcom’s newcomer ‘Lost Planet 2’. Although released early (on Tuesday rather than Friday) and on both Xbox 360 and PS3, ‘Lost Planet 2’ has to settle for No3 in the All Formats Chart. Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’ falls to its lowest position for 7 weeks, slipping to No4 but maintaining its position as the week’s top selling Wii game despite a 19% drop in sales. EA have this week’s third new entry at No5 with ‘Skate 3’ and is the most represented publisher in the Top 10 thanks to a 5% rise in sales for ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’ at No6.

Xbox 360 and PS3 newcomers ‘Lost Planet 2’ and ‘Skate 3’ enjoy most success on Microsoft’s format with 66% of sales on Xbox 360 for ‘Lost Planet 2’ and 68% for ‘Skate 3’. ‘Modern Warfare 2’ (-14%) slips down from No3 to No7 after 3 weeks of promotion at retail. Final Fantasy XIII bounces back into the Top 10 after 8 weeks outside it, up from No14 to No8, boosted by price promotions which push sales up 90%. Nintendo’s regular big hitters ‘Wii Fit Plus’ and ‘Wii Sports Resort’ fall to No’s 9 and 10 respectively. Neither title has been out of the All Formats Top 10 since they were launched in July (Wii Sports Resort) and November (Wii Fit Plus) last year. There are a large number of re-entries this week thanks to strong price promotions at retail, notably ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ back at No15, ‘Nier’ at No23, ‘Lips: I Love the 80s’ at No25, ‘Bioshock 2’ at No30, ‘Bayonetta’ at No31 and ‘Napoleon: Total War’ at No35.

I wonder what Alan's total sales are. 50k units sold should be good...

-edit-

Oh, just read the other thread. AW sales are around 36k. Slow week. :/

So Monster Hunter Tri is going to bow out of the charts at ~80k or so

No. 38-42k at best

Launch Week: ~17K (estimated based on NSMB's weekly sales)
Second Week: 10-12K (estimate based on MKWii average sales and chart position)
Third Week: ~8K (estimate based on MKWii average sales and chart position)

Not "hard" numbers, but probably a good estimate.

This is the fouth week and considering Yakuza 3 outsold MHTri, the game will probably be closer to 38k

After browsing the last thread it seems GAF worked out that Alan Wake did a maximum of 36k, though I wouldn't know if that's good or bad around these parts.

And Forza's made that 21 spot its own god damn.

‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’ (-42%) hits a hat-trick of weeks at No1 despite strong competition from 3 new games making their debuts in the Top 5 this week.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 title ‘Alan Wake’ enters at No2, only 1,000 sales behind FIFA

so they combine FIFA's sales? seems a little unfair.

Alan Wake must've done ok it's only 1,000 behind.

Oh well, I had to come down off the PSP high eventually. Better sooner than later.

I hadn't realised Alan Wake was out. I feel a little silly. Better grab that bad boy on the way home.

Silent Hill goes up a spot to 28 in the Wii Charts. Keep going Silent Hill. Slow but steady... (actually, not bad considering it debuted at #11 on the Wii Charts).

So anyway, keep buying Silent Hill people. Needs more sales.

Just following up from the other thread, as I see someone found the figure I was looking for - Since Heavy Rain, new IP, potentially very niche appeal, did 86k in it's first week, I think 36k is pretty disappointing for Alan Wake, which by all means should have had greater appeal than Heavy Rain to typical gamers. MAYBE it has legs, based on my playthrough of episode 1 it should received some excellent word of mouth, but that's not a great start, even if it IS number 1.

Lost Planet 2 360 at #3! Awesome it didn't bomb.

Looking at it i would say it had a fairly big budget so im not sure coming 3rd in the UK means much especially on a slow week. Also unless it fairs really well in the US it is going to fall way short of expectations.

I don't know if it will be a bomb but it will be a big disapointment.

PS3 is in 850,000 homes in Australia (includes 150,000 given away with Bravias). 360 was 1m across Australia and New Zealand a few weeks ago. Wii ~= PS3 + 360 in Australia.

Ps3 has certainly come a long way here. I remember when it first released people laughed at the price and were saying how you would have to be an idiot to buy it.

I thought Alan Wake would have sold more then the number people are saying. Its a great game, did it have any adverstising here in UK? I dont watch much tv so i wouldn't know.

Dash Kappei

Not actually that important
Wow, such a disappointment for Alan Wake there... seems the reviews gave Lost Planet 2 the last kick in the teeth, not even the new demo could help it.

That top 10 chart for April 2010 in the UK is a joke... the bottom really has fallen out of the market, hasn't it?

Sales of ~10k a week get you in the top 10 for the month? Pathetic. Easter is supposed to be the 2nd biggest sales period of the year, as well.

Gotta love how the PSP/360 versions of FIFA, or even worse the DS/PS3 versions of Call of Duty are considered to be the same game - but Pokemon Silver/Gold are just too different from each other to be combined in a multi-chart. :lol

Dayum. Just Dance @ ~700k just in 2010.

Given the circumstances we should probably applaud Ubi for their restraint in not releasing Just Dance 2 around Easter time

NPD's started doing the same kind of crazy combining. They didn't used to do that years ago (IIRC). It was only after their partnership with Chart-Track/GfK that it started.

Will they be having DLC for Just Dance 2?

The music track on the first one is small compared to a Rock Band CD, and you can't even add to it with DLC.

Rockstar/Take 2 debut at No1 with the long-anticipated ‘Red Dead Redemption’ for 360/PS3. It is the second All Formats No1 this year for Take 2 (‘Bioshock 2’ made No1 in week 6, 2010) and the first Rockstar/Take 2 All Formats No1 since ‘GTA IV’ back in week 18, 2008.

Overall sales of ‘Red Dead Redemption’ are enough to rank No11 in terms of best ever weekly sales on this particular chart (9th best in terms of 360 titles, 11th best in terms of PS3 titles). EA’s ‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’ (-25%) drops down to No2 after 3 weeks on top and Ubisoft actually climb one place to No3 with perennial favourite ‘Just Dance’ (-13%). Nintendo climb 5 places to No4 with ‘Wii Fit Plus’ (+20%).

Disney Interactive Studios debut at No5 with ‘Split/Second: Velocity’ for 360/PS3 and Ubisoft debut at No9 with multi-format ‘Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands’ – the film of the 2003/2004 videogame ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ has also just been released at the box office. The last of this week’s new releases is Sony’s PS3/PSP ‘Modnation Racers’, debuting at No10.
