‘Grand Theft Auto V’ holds on to top spot for a second week, recording a total of 11 weeks at No1 – the most weeks at No1 in the All Formats Chart for any GTA game.

'FIFA 17’ climbs from No3 to No2, swapping places with ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ which drops to No3. Ubisoft’s ‘Steep’ rises two places to No7, matching its highest position, reached back in W51 2016. ‘Overwatch’ jumps back in to the Top 10, up 8 places to No10. The last time it was in the Top 10 was back in W45 last year when it reached No7. New releases finally start to make an appearance in the Top 40 with a debut at No13 for Square-Enix/Nintendo’s ‘Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King’ on 3DS, while Sony’s ‘Gravity Rush 2’ on PS4 enters at No16. Next week the chart will get invaded by zombies as ‘Resident Evil VII: Biohazard’ is set to break loose.

Poor GR2...

Anyway, in the positive, Rocket League has been out 18 months at this point, was given away through PS+ at launch and had a late physical release... Yet is still way up there <3

Gravity Rush 2 not doing great in the UK as expected :/
Not enough cars and guns, as it seems.

Still, can't wait for Gravity Rush 3 on PS5 ;)

DQ8 enters at number 10 in the individual formats, 13 in all formats.

DQ7 entered at number 11 in individual formats, 12 in all formats.

Would be interested to see sales numbers.

Poor Kat. Oh well, at least it was a fantastic game and a fantastic finale for the series.

Best game this month for me.

Gravity Rush is no surprise. IP is niche. It's nice we got a second game at least!

Vita owners bought more copies of Fate/Extella than Atelier Shallie. You bloody fools. We finally get physical Atelier and this is what you go and do?!

Not surprised about Gravity Rush. I'm part of the problem. Haven't played the first one and I definitely wouldn't shelve out full price for GR2 knowing that its price will plummet within a month or so.

By Amazon accounts, GR2 is also a disaster in the US, and I'm pretty sure Japan will be by far the most successful market for it (between 50K and 100K).

I can't understand how PlayStation gamers can make The Last Guardian a decent success and just after ignore completely Gravity Rush 2. The remastered paved the way, the reviews were excellent, there was a playable demo, the timing was right and the marketing was not nonexistent either with that fantastic ad. A fucking disgrace, no excuse can be found here.

What marketing? At least over here, TLG had a TV spot. GR2 had sweet FA.

I think it's funny how some people on social media or even Gaf are crying about "Sony is making too many 3rd person 'cinematic' story-driven games lately", but they don't buy "niche games" like Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, etc.
You get what you deserve.

Gravity Rush 2 is one of those games in the same vein as Yakuza where the YouTube view counts are almost always assuredly very low and terrible no matter whether or not it was featured in a conference.

Mainstream PlayStation audience don't care about GR IP.

Ouch GR2...well I did my part for what little that was worth. It got great reviews and everything....lack of marketing I suppose? Seems like Sony didn't think the effort was worth it.

To be expected I guess, Japan studio has always been about making weird games to attract people to the system, I don't think Sony expects them to sell like hot cakes but still :(

Hopes for DQVIII doing better in France, Spain and Italy

Dragon Quest VIII was very big in Spain, no other Dragon Quest title gets remotely close to the success of the first title released in Spain (Europe).

Most people had a very good impression of the game so I hope that at least some will grab the remake for nostalgia.

Nah, these games just don't sell well, that's why they are not made these days.

Yeah I want it to continue, but Sony is is not as lenient as they used to be. If you are talking about Japan Studio in general they will be fine.

SCE isn't a charity. It's gamers letting a publisher that is willing to take a risk down by not caring about more niche games. It's sad but that's the way it is.

Crash Bandicoot will sell gangbusters, though.

It's as niche as it gets, it's very Japanese such a shame as it's a fantastic title it looks and plays fantastically.

I feel bad for Gravity Rush 2 since it's a beautiful game in some regards, but let's not lie to ourselves. The mass market appeal isn't there.

It has a female, teenaged lead character inhabiting a colourful and sometimes mysterious world where she goes on slice-of-life style adventures before eventually getting embroiled in some conflict. It appeals to an evangelical vocal minority similar to the Playstation Vita and Sony was savvy enough to see that marketing it would just be a waste of time because anyone who wanted it was likely already aware of it.

Hell, I'm capable of playing games very different in tone and style compared to most mass-market gamers and even I find Gravity Rush a bit slow and mundane.

At least the game got made and people that wanted to see an end to Kat's story got their wish fulfilled, on the PS4 instead of the Vita as originally planned, no less. I think the series doesn't have much hope of continuing past this entry, however.

Slow and mundane isn't how I'd describe the gameplay of gravity rush it's exciting fast and different.
