It’s time for the market to explode, as EA’s ‘FIFA 13' debuts at No 1.

It joins the select club of titles that have sold more than 1m units in their opening week, the others being Call of Duty series Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 & 3. ‘FIFA 13’ outsold previous best ‘FIFA 12’ by +27% in units and +31% by revenue (based on opening week sales). Week 39 total market units climb 196% over the previous week (+282% by revenue) to become by far the biggest week of the year so far and the curtain-raiser for the much hoped for Q4 revival.

‘FIFA 13’ accounted for an astonishing 71% of all units and 80% of all entertainment software revenue this week (up from 62%/72% for FIFA 12 last year), revealing an even greater polarisation of sales towards triple A product. Finally, in a comparison between week 39-12 vs. week 39-11, this week is up 11% in units and 18% in revenue. Last week’s No1 ‘Borderlands 2’ drops to No2 (-60%) and Codemasters also drop one place to No3 with ‘F1 2012’ (-38%).

But it’s not just a FIFA festival this week as Activision Blizzard’s ‘World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria’ debuts at No4, a mid-week release from Tuesday 25th September. Also debuting this week is Ubisoft’s innovative ‘Rocksmith’ at No7, Tecmo Koei’s ‘Dead or Alive 5’ at No11, Rovio/Activision’s ‘Angry Birds Trilogy’ at No16 and Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 5 Academy Edition’ at No17. In the console hardware world Sony’s PS3 ‘Super Slim’ 500GB debuts this week and immediately sees PS3 hardware sales rocket 138% over last week – the 500GB variant accounted for 37% of all PS3’s sold.

PS2 Version of Fifa 12 charting haha

In the console hardware world Sony’s PS3 ‘Super Slim’ 500GB debuts this week and immediately sees PS3 hardware sales rocket 138% over last week – the 500GB variant accounted for 37% of all PS3’s sold.
Nice

A bit surprised Fifa 12 sold more on 360.

Are game bundles counted ?

There are more 360s in the UK than PS3s and Fifa 360 sales more every year. Ads make no difference. The game has come out for like 7 years on both consoles no one is going to be confused by console specific ads.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
Looking at the last few years of FIFA sales:

FIFA 08 - PS2 44%, 360 26%, PS3 20%
FIFA 09 - Up by 37.5%, 360 42%, PS3 40%
FIFA 10 - Up by 48%, 360 48%, PS3 46%
FIFA 11 - Up by 21%, 360 50%, PS3 47% (821k total)
FIFA 12 - Up by 18%, 360 54%, PS3 44%
FIFA 13 - Up by 27%, 360 56%, PS3 42%

Sourced from previous week 39/40 threads.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Really surprised by Little Big Planet. Good second week.

FIFA 13 for 3DS is present in the Top40 Individual Value SKU, where it's higher than PC version ( 22nd), while both PS2 and PSP SKUs are absent. Not surprised about the PS2 SKU, it was something like 16 Pounds, so many units sold but not a big amount of money earned.
But it seems the PSP FIFA audience already shifted to Vita and much less to 3DS.

@user_nat

So:

FIFA 12 - 969k , 360 - 484.5k , PS3 - 455.43
FIFA 13 - 1.230k

3DS is the platform of choice for Angry Birds and FIFA, it seems. How... pathetic.

And a nice Dead or Alive bomb.

Actually, looking at all the other countries (Amazon.com , Toysrus, Walmart, Amazon.fr/de/it ), it seems ABT is doing MUCH better on 3DS than on other platforms. And...it was the same on Amazon.uk, being higher than 360 SKU, but then "Sign up when the item becomes available", no page anymore basically...so strange.

EDIT:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008YUSMX0/

Oh, ok, it's back, even if in extremely limited supply from another retailer and not Amazon. What the hell?

Moshi Monsters...is a monster. Literally. I can't believe this brand is so famous in UK XD
Both Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 have steel legs, it's impressive despite the low positions.

I'm not so impressed with the Mario games and Moshi as they are the only games that have been selling at all on their respective platforms. But Forza and Skyrim have done really well.

GT5 still doing well nearly 2 years after launch. Uncharted 3 is in the charts too.

Okay they're new editions but still the same games that released in 2010/11

Moshi monsters is crazy, its been in the chart for like a whole year nearly, the game itself doesn't even have a Wikipedia page ffs??? Be interesting to see how the 3ds game will do next month

Yeah, it's amazing how low key this game is. A no-show on Metacritic, the only reviews you find are blogsites, e.g http://goodconsolegamesforkids.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/moshi-monsters-ds-recommended/

Can't imagine the 3DS one being anything short of a stormer as well.

The next Moshi Monsters is for both. So, it's better to lower the expectations, given there's still the DS version.

Ah didn't realise there was a ds version too, well I guess the ds version will probably hold the title of being the last release on the system to make the chart

Wow at Fifa, great numbers. Wish we got 360 HW increase too, I'm betting PS3's increase was more down to Fifa ...

Where's the 3DS version of FIFA 13? Even the PSV version charted on 18 (below LBP, lol)

Edit: Damn, even the PS2 version? And Angry Birds Trilogy is (luckily) way lower than I expected.

3DS is dead.

This is a joke
It kind of is in UK, though. Mario is obviously selling, but third-party wise, if not even FIFA w(hich is probably the biggest brand there) can chart in the top 40 while it does on every other platform, it makes you think.

Football game with no online. And 3DS is the less atractive platform for playing sports games.

But yeah, if Fifa doesn't even chart I don't expect many 3DS games to chart this year.

Well, FIFA haven't set the charts on fire on DS neither. PSP version did always much better than the DS ones, at least in UK. It seems we're seeing this happening again, and PSP FIFA audience has suddenly disappeared, shifting on Vita and in a much lower profile on 3DS...
...and actually the DS games had online. :lol

Soulcalibur, Tekken and now DOA bomba. Dead genre. ;_;

It's a niche genre at this point.
Who wants to learn a huge list of buttons combos to play a game properly these days?
Btw I did my part with DOA5 and I'm pretty happy with it.
Also I'm positevely surprised with LBP and FIFA for Vita. September should have been a much better month for the platform than the terrible summer months (July-August).

10 (07) New Super Mario Bros. 2 (Nintendo)
11 (__) Dead or Alive 5 (Tecmo)

Last week New Super Mario Bros. 2 sold 6.149 units, this week's numbers are probably very similar so Dead or Alive must have sold around 5.000 - 6.000 units.

EA has earned a deservedly bad reputation on Nintendo systems with their sport brand hence the abysmal sales for most of their releases. On top of that Nintendo users aren't too receptive to these kind of titles.

Btw I did my part with DOA5 and I'm pretty happy with it.
Also I'm positevely surprised with LBP and FIFA for Vita. September should have been a much better month for the platform than the terrible summer months (July-August).

I'm not so surprised.. there should be .. what.. 250k ? ( more ? less? ) of ps vita in Uk, and checking from the position of Fifa and LBP on the chart, let's say... 10K of Fifa sold and 30K of LBP ( counting also bundle pack ) in two weeks ?

it's seems just the expected sales for a very low userbase

FIFA managed 5k on Vita first week. LBP is up to 11k total after 2 weeks
