Path of Exile |OT| Loot 3.0

haha. I need to buy this issue of GAF. I wanna know about the 10 warning signs of pre order cancelled.
I was actually thinking about the things that people say "preorder cancelled" to...

1) Technical issues such as pop-in, screen tearing, being sub-HD or not native resolution, framerate dips

2) Shifts in gameplay paradigms that hint at the game becoming easier, more 'casual' or 'accessible', including any allegations the game is 'pandering to the CoD crowd'

3) Reboots which fail to acknowledge what made the series popular in the first place, and developers claiming that it's for the good of the series (see Thief: "We'll overcome fan resistance")

4) Repeated delays

5) Media silence, lack of new info/trailers/interviews/screenshots

6) Not giving review copies to media outlets/putting the review embargo on or after release day

7) Senior team members leaving during development

8) The game changing dev teams during development

9) Changing the voice actor of the main character

10) Major shifts in art design, especially when leaning towards a more 'gritty' or 'grimdark' aesthetic

Holy crap, that's 10 already...

Anyone know what the best way to set up voice chat will be once 1.0 is released? I plan on playing in co-op with a friend, and getting voice chat to work with no lag tends to be a pain in the ass for a lot of games. We'll probably download the steam version.

Where is this leaked skill tree!?!!!!!

So fucking excited. Like really excited. Mostly for a chance to reroll in the new leagues. I have like ~50 exalts on Standard with nothing to spend them on--especially with that league pretty much becoming a legacy dumping ground. I'm goin full on Domination--haven't decided on a character yet though. I've done Freeze Pulse, low-life RF Spork (my first real decked out character with 6L shavs) and then most recently a Shadow Physical Wander (using that Shav's again).

I think on Domination I'm going to go a little more tanky/defensive oriented and do a 2hander Scion Spectral Throw with crazy attack speed ala blender build.

Any bros remind me how damage is calculated?

Is it converted, then added, then increased?
It depends on what are you doing.

Physical Damage + Armor

Generally physical damage is mitigated by armor. The more armor you have the less damage you receive. Because damage mitigated by armor is not damage - armor. The more damage is dealt the less effective you armor is. Shots from Brutus at merciless will really hurt anyone having only armor. This works both ways for you and enemy

Summary:

Damage
Physical damage - generally good and best for killing bosses. Supplied with skills can be also good for killing groups of weak monsters. Best use of it is like i said bosses and groups of elite monsters since high damage can mitigate armor and kill them quickly
Magic Damage - Fire/Cold/Lighting. Preatty straighforward + it gives you freezing/shock or burning stack when crit damage is dealt:
Shock - it adds 40% more damage to damage dealt. 3 Stacks of it is worth 120% amazing for single targets like bosses
Freeze - enemy is frozen and don't move or attack. Crowd control mechanic
Burning - enemy burns. It deals Damage over Time % of fire damage you dealt. Good for killing crowds and ton of weak monsters

Armor - It mitigates physical damage. Due to nature of mitigation armor is most
effective on packs of relatively weak monsters that could hurt you in group if they surround you.
Evasion - It gives you chance to evade attack. Something like dodge that completely negates attack values and you are simply missed. It is awesome stat for person taking out boss character since boss also will have to miss your % of evade. Coupled with shield it may make fight like Brutus easy. Evade has big minus though. Fighting one on one with enemy is its strong point but taking out groups of monsters at close range can be problematic. 5 monsters at close range can give you 5 attacks and with 50% evade chance you can get hit 2-3 times at the same time where in case of Brutus 0-1. This is why it is Ranger stat mainly. Because running with bow evades most of malee group attacks and evasion work best on single projectile attacks (that usually are only source of enemy damage for this class)
Energy Shield - Works like additional Life that regenerates after few seconds. It is good for withstanding few first attacks and getting to safe place but it will get you nowhere if you plan to receive a lot of attacks. That is why it is used for spellcasting classes and hybrids such as templar and shadow. Both of those hybrids (if they are build as spellcasting warrior and assasin ) need to stay alive either few seconds to cast spells or hit with poison dagger and move out of enemy range

Don't forget kids ! LIFE IS MOST IMPORTANT STAT to survive wraeclast. Just because you have mage it doesn't mean he doesn't need life to survive. At times there will be situations where you simply won't be able to dodge because for example whole screen will be filled with sparks.

It is good to mix some stats. Pure evasion/armor/energy shield may have problems in end game.

It depends on what are you doing.
Errr I was actually thinking more about something like Cold to Fire, then Added Fire Damage, and Increased Fire Damage passives.

I'm pretty sure it happens in that order because if increased damage passives count first, Avatar of Fire would be pretty OP from that leaked version.

Staff Sweep/leap slam Avatar of Fire Build with Detonate Dead+Ignite+Ele.Profilation Trigger gem sounds pretty good, very good synergie with fire damage and increas AoE Range :D

More info! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/541951

We've previously posted an overview of what's coming at Release and some specific balance changes in 1.0.0. There are still plenty of other changes in the upcoming patch to discuss, so we've highlighted a few of them for today's news update.

In no particular order, the following changes are likely to be in the 1.0.0 version:
* Scavengers have been replaced by Cannibals. In addition to adding new content, we're updating older parts of the game. There are new Buzzard monsters in the Coves, for example.
* Waypoints, quest locations and talking objects have been updated to have nicer graphical markers on the map.
* Several world areas have been renamed to finally get rid of our old internal names and to be more consistent with other names. For example, River Crossings is now The Riverways, * Terraces is now The Coast and Church Dungeon is now The Crypt.
* Players now receive two more life points per level.
* Some monster types now have the Far Shot implicit mod. This is like a reverse Point Blank passive in that they do more damage to characters that are far away.
* Added a new Rogue Exile, Xandro Blooddrinker - the winner of the Well Dressed Exile competition! He's a pretty tough fight.
* Player and monster Shock has been reduced from 40% to 30% per stack.
* 1.0.0 contains three new supporter Uniques, six new Uniques that can only occur in Domination and Nemesis, one Unique only found in Domination and one only found in Nemesis.
* There are eight new end-game Maps that use the new tilsets. They're in tiers: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 13. Tier 13 is a new tier of (level 78!) Maps.
* We're expecting to have Steam Trading Cards available.

These are (obviously) not full patch notes, just a small set of things we haven't yet talked about. We'll post the full patch notes early next week.

New Monsters in old areas are good

2 more life per lvl is great. With lvl 80 and 200% increase life it would be 480life. Less Path of Lifenodes.

Shock nerf is pretty good, shock is just to good.

Many new Uniques are always good

And steam cards, yeahe baby, give me the PoE Steam Emoticons!!

They nerfed shock stacks ! And introduced mod so ranged characters will take more damage than malee characters.

Imo far better would be something like "illusive" where damage deal to monter would scale with distance to it. Ranged characters trying to take it out from affar would deal shit damage.

Shock stacks are now 30% extra damage, down from 40%.
3 shocks stacks even after they nerfed it to 30% will be still very very very dangerous to mob or character.

Problem with shocks stacks is that they work for every type of damage. Its origin is to boost lightning damage so 1-xx damage can become 1-xxx damage. In reality if someone uses it they can switch to freeze or any other type of damage and get shit ton of damage.

Imo it would be good if those shock stacks would work mostly on lightning damage and every other type of damage would get nerf to shock effectiveness.

That's a pretty smart idea. It would encourage people to actually specialise in lightning damage to get the benefits of it. As of now it seems like a token gesture to spam some lightning crits to debuff the enemy before you do your 'real' damage, which doesn't make sense from a role-playing or even a game balance point of view.

Hah i thought up some fun combo for my frost paladin ranger.

double strike + multistrike + flee on hit for groups. Thanks to mi high crit chance + that i she is frost based paladin (aura) and that she is lightning fast, she will freeze group near her and crowd control with flee essentially i won't be able to get surrounded since monsters will either flee or be icy while i will pond them. I need to take that projectile 50% dodge and shit should work like a dream. i am using armor + energy shield (standard templar gear) + ranger shield giving be nice evasion boost. I am relatively low level now 35.

This is what i usually do when i am trying to do some crit based shock stack character. Especially shadow since it already has high multiplier and high chance of crit nodes near it.

Just saw that Kripp will definitely be back in PoE.

He noted that every change they are making is good, and that's what is getting him back.
Blizzard's Hearthstone can't stop this train!

I dunno about that.

Life is more gimped than ever.
I have a life caster with full resist. I can stand in a multiple projectile docks dog and take little damage. They nerf Life with enemy damage. The 2 extra Life per level is pretty significant like Kripp said.

I'm still all for Life builds now that CI is about to get completely destroyed by the Vaal Pact separation. The only way people can CI Dagger Vaal Pact is Scion, but even then Scion start towards Int/Dex area is through a bunch of garbage nodes for CI Dagger.

He always said that he would be back in PoE when the game release and when new races release. He play games to be the best, and ruin the game for himself by doing that I think because you learn every faces, every corner and everything about the game. When gaming is work, then there is a problem for me.

Nah, he had a video where he said he might stick with Hearthstone, but he didn't really have too much information at that time.

He has 10k twitch viewers. He alone can put PoE into #3-4 in the Twitch ranks.

Gaming IS work for him though. He's getting paid to do it and is using it as a job.

That's why I spoke for me. But even for him, he played too much. If you play too much of a game, go to 99 when there is no incentive to do so, do every single map, all that on Hardcore, you are burned out. The scene is also burned out. So he left to do other stuff, and will come back. I could not stand to play POE for how long he did, even if you paid me. If you told me "Okay, I will pay you 20$ an hour to play Path of Exile" I would have done it, but the joy of playing the game would be gone after 1 or 2 days.
It take people that want to do this. He's the kind of gamer that play one game and become the best at it. I'm not. I would love to try Hearthstone. But I will never go in a tournement.
I will play a MMO, but I wont go raiding until I'm Tier 3 and then wait for the next patch to be Tier 4 as soon as possible.
I just cant.

How does Spectral Throw's boomerang effect work with Fork or Chain? Will a projectile also split on the way back? Does it launch another branching boomerang? There are all sorts of crazy variations I can think of.

I might give it another go, I stopped playing ages ago. I'm wondering if the death penalty is still active? Once you got past level 80 dying once would cost you so much time it was disheartening to continue, especially with all the lag issues.
