PC Gamers Assemble, Let's Demand PC Ports From Sega!

Pretty much this.

I had gotten banned for "port begging" for saying a Mobile Phone game should be on 3DS or Vita instead, so I don't see how this or anything else would be any different.
But then, there's plenty of other similar stuff (like all the Bayonetta stuff) that continues on, so, it just seems kind of hit or miss.
Port begging is bannable when it is deleterious to a thread.
- going into an OT for a game not on a apltform and saying "this should be on a different platform instead!" = port begging, because it is going to derail a conversation
- creating a new thread saying "wouldnt it be cool if game y was on platform x" is just speculation in its own htread, and if noone agrees it will just die.

Hideki Naganuma teased the possibility of a JSRF remake a while back on Twitter.

He also tells people all the time that they should let SEGA know that they want a JSRF port. I feel like if they're not working on a JSRF HD yet we can definitely motivate them to by letting SEGA know that we want it. It's certainly more likely than getting them to release games like Yakuza or Resonance of Fate on PC.

It looks like it has 8 downvotes and 7 upvotes on Reddit right now.
It's sad, but it sounds like people on Reddit aren't supporting this right now.
In my three month ban from GAF, I spent a good deal of time on Reddit.

Reddit's vocal PC community is a cesspit. No decency, no respect, and out for offensive jokes.
Asking them to port 10 games is a little ridiculous. I think this campaign would have a better chance of being successful if you limited the scope to one game, like, say, Vanquish.
Yep.

And Valkyria Chronicles.

I think expecting Xbox ports of obscure games is more than a little ridiculous, but I'm absolutely on-board with this as far as current gen stuff like Vanquish goes.

I'm still annoyed that the Virtua Fighter 5 FS port we got after years of waiting had shitted up textures to fit within the 360's file size limit.

Gotta start somewhere, just giving people suggestions to look at their favorite games.

Likely, Sega will probably just chose one to 'probe the waters' initially. If that game is successful, more would come.

Nice idea Grief, PC port begging is my kinda port begging.

If that is the case, would be nice to get a 100% official noting of it.

Baby steps, try and persuade Sega to at least do Vanquish and Bayonetta first and hopefully when they sell the sales of that then it'll convince them to look more into it.

I support this fully either way, Platinums games would especially benefit greatly from PC releases. I want Mad World too damnit!

If you don't know anything about Valkyria Chronicles, I feel bad for you man. You missed out on probably one of the most unique games this gen.
Unless there's rights issues Sega are mad to not have that up on PSN at least to buy. Would do quite well I reckon.

Well I'm not banned yet and this has been on the top of the front page since I posted it ;)

The official explanation that someone from Sega of America gave is that the Canvas engine apparently shits itself if the entire game is ran off the harddrive instead of twin streaming from the disc and HDD.

Which is madness IMO. It's sequels run fine off of digital download and they use the same engine as VC1.

You're right. Maybe there is a shot at getting Bayonetta and Vanquish.
It should be either that or Valkyria Chronicles. The XCom reimagining has seemingly sold very well on PC, not to mention that Sega pretty much owns the strategy genre. With a little push it would do great.

Wait, they ported Canvas over to the PSP? How? Why? I thought the whole point of Canvas was the lovely watercolour effects, which plain don't exist on the PSP.

I thought they only used Canvas for one game, which would've been a travesty. This almost sounds worse.

(Valkyria Chronicles Trilogy for PC. I will buy Day -1 for whatever you charge. DO IT SEGA.)

I have some difficulties understanding why some cult titles aren't brought to PC.
Being "cult" games, they would have a free big marketing push from the fans (see PC Dark Souls), which would rise significantly their chances to turn into positive conversion ventures.

Japanese companies are really missing here, "withdrawing" franchises into handhelds territory (usually japanese only too) without considering the potential market on PC. Like Valkyria Chronicles: I can see it doing decently on PC (unless the conversion is technically challenging and thus expensive), with also the help-push from the recent success of another big turn based game, XCOM that is (which I consider terrible, but that's another story). Maybe with the PC revenue it wouldn't be a handheld franchise now.

Please don't ban me :(

I went ahead and posted on r/steam, r/games can be finicky at times. Sometimes I will get 5000 upvotes, and others go negative

Actually was my password, finally tweeted!

Perfect! Appreciate the support.

Did my part, don't regret buying it, was a fantastic game and would love to have a sequel for it.
If only we could get less CoD and BF and more of this :(
Did they fully fix the mouse controls? I have the game, but I despise poor M/KB controls.
